Chapter 176: Chapter 176: Fighting for Food (2)
What’s his deal? Going crazy?
Mi Wan glanced at the ribs sticking out of her bowl, then lifted her gaze and looked at Ji Dongquan with a hint of strangeness in her eyes.
"Don’t tempt me, be careful or I’ll eat you up." Ji Dongquan leaned closer to Mi Wan’s ear, whispering suggestively, as if he hadn’t noticed the odd look in her eyes.
Upon hearing this, Mi Wan calmly withdrew her gaze and continued to eat her meal indifferently, feeling speechless towards Ji Dongquan’s flirtatious antics.
"Aunt Wanwan, the ribs you stewed today are really delicious." He Zerui said with a faint smile while chewing the rib meat, intentionally giving Ji Dongquan a sidelong glance.
"Then eat more." With that, Mi Wan added some more ribs to He Zerui’s bowl, making Ji Dongquan almost unable to resist swallowing.
Damn brat!
Ji Dongquan glared at He Zerui, then grabbed some shredded meat and focused on his meal.
"Why aren’t you eating the ribs?" Mi Wan noticed that aside from giving her a bowl of ribs, Ji Dongquan hadn’t touched the pot of ribs again. She wondered if he had lost his appetite or if his taste had changed. She clearly remembered that the stewed ribs she made were his favorite dish, no doubt about it.
"Not in the mood for them today." Ji Dongquan replied perfunctorily, but in his mind, he was thinking he definitely needed to make up for not eating ribs later with Mi Wan.
"Then eat more vegetables." Despite his indifferent response, Mi Wan wasn’t angry. Instead, she gently put a large serving of greens into Ji Dongquan’s bowl.
Instantly, Ji Dongquan’s face darkened, his expression stiff as he stared at the vibrant greens.
Why is this?
Because he doesn’t like vegetables!
"Wanwan..."
"I put effort into each dish, so no, picking, food!" Mi Wan blocked Ji Dongquan’s words firmly, and Ji Dongquan, determined to eat meat later, gritted his teeth and didn’t make a sound.
Seeing Ji Dongquan’s restrained look, He Zerui smiled subtly as if watching a show. And being laughed at by a little kid, Ji Dongquan felt uncomfortable. In a huff, he dumped all the ribs into Mi Wan’s bowl, leaving He Zerui unable to laugh anymore.
"I can’t finish this." Mi Wan thought Ji Dongquan was deliberately making things difficult, smiled helplessly, and stared at the mountain of ribs in her bowl, unsure how to proceed.
"You eat first, if you can’t finish, I’ll help you." Ji Dongquan said cheerfully.
Looking at Ji Dongquan’s smiling face, Mi Wan wanted to facepalm. Is this man really acting crazy today? Could you even call this a meal!
"Aunt Wanwan, I really, really like the ribs you stewed." He Zerui said while looking straight at Mi Wan, drawing her attention. He then stared longingly at the bowl in front of her.
"I’ve eaten this already, maybe I could..." Over the time they’ve spent together, Mi Wan realized He Zerui seemed to have a serious cleanliness issue. He loved cleanliness and had a sensitive nose. Even when washing dishes, he rinses them several times.
"I don’t mind." He Zerui said emotionlessly. However, his longing eyes blatantly revealed his deep craving to Mi Wan.
"No, I mind." Isn’t this indirectly eating his woman’s leftover food? Ji Dongquan thought and opposed firmly with a stern face.
"Mr. Ji, are you disgusted by me?" He Zerui said calmly with no emotion in his tone, making it impossible for Mi Wan to guess what mood he was in saying that.
However, she knew children’s thoughts were quite sensitive, especially a solitary and smart child like He Zerui, even more so.
"Zerui, don’t overthink, your Uncle Ji definitely doesn’t dislike you." Mi Wan smiled, trying to smooth things over while moving the ribs from her bowl into He Zerui’s, saying, "Eat up, I’ll make more for you next time."
"Great, it’s a deal." He Zerui immediately smiled softly, his slight smile unexpectedly making Mi Wan feel relieved.
Ji Dongquan sat on the side, observing He Zerui’s act with a cold eye. He could hear the warning embedded in his words, and could only play dumb.
Soon, the atmosphere at the dining table grew quiet. The three of them focused on their meals. Ten minutes later, as soon as Mi Wan put down her chopsticks, Ji Dongquan, who had been quietly watching her, also put down his chopsticks.
"Come upstairs with me, I have something to tell you." Ji Dongquan took the tissue Mi Wan handed him and wiped his mouth. While holding Mi Wan’s hand, he said with a serious and solemn expression, as if there was something important to discuss.
Mi Wan also had something to say to him, so she obediently followed him upstairs.
Bam—
As soon as they entered the room, Mi Wan was pinned against the door by Ji Dongquan, and the door closed behind them.
"Ji Dongquan, you dared to trick me?" Caught in his grasp, Mi Wan suddenly realized she had been deceived.
"I wouldn’t dare." Ji Dongquan propped one hand on the door while holding Mi Wan with the other, and pecked her cheek, saying, "I do have something to tell you, but it’s just a simple sentence."
"..." Mi Wan didn’t respond, knowing that under such circumstances, Ji Dongquan wouldn’t say anything serious.
"Wanwan, baby, I want to do what we both love." Ji Dongquan tucked Mi Wan’s long hair behind her ear, revealing her fair ear, and his lips moved from her cheek to her ear. As his warm breath brushed against her, he revealed tempting words.
"Are you sure what you love doing is the same as what I love doing?" Mi Wan turned her head, avoiding Ji Dongquan’s lips, and raised her hands to cradle Ji Dongquan’s handsome face, softly asking him.
"Are they different?" Ji Dongquan looked into Mi Wan’s eyes, teasingly asking.
"If I say they’re different, you wouldn’t believe it. But truthfully, I don’t like to do that with you..." At the crucial point, Mi Wan paused, seeming troubled or perhaps intentionally ambiguous, leaving Ji Dongquan’s heart hanging.
"Say it! Why didn’t you finish?" Ji Dongquan maintained his composure and urged loudly.
"Nervous? Tsk tsk, Ji Dongquan, how worried are you? Your heart is racing!" Mi Wan removed her hands from Ji Dongquan’s face and lightly placed them on his chest, feeling his rapid heartbeat.
Only by caring enough would one feel tense. Mi Wan managed to outwit Ji Dongquan due to his high IQ precisely because of this.
In those long waits, he repeatedly imagined their reunion scenes and life afterwards, thinking about how to relive the playful moments of the past, and how to start spending the remaining days together. No one knew that during those sleepless nights, all he could think about was her. Because he loved her too deeply, he couldn’t ignore every expression and feeling of hers, thus his cautiousness and heightened tension.
