Flash Marriage Husband is an Alpha-Chapter 23: She is my Luna...
Stepping out of the club, the moon seemed to glow brighter, the cold air of the night grazed our skin, yet could not calm the heat crawling over my body.
My arms tightened gently around her petite frame, which was weightless. Like a kitten, she nudged her head against my shoulder. I almost laughed at her actions.
"Handsome, can you put me down? I want to go home," she said sluggishly. Her eyes threatened to close.
I was surprised she could still be calm after taking such an amount of wine. I must praise her alcohol tolerance level.
"Where is your home?" I asked.
But she shook her head lightly. "Not that home," she said.
My gaze narrowed as I looked down at her face. "Which home then?" Though I asked, I could not be any happier.
Karl stirred. "Do you not have a home? Or what were you planning?"
"Karl, can you just understand this is human and has a family that could be expecting her home?"
As though she heard me, she stirred. "Can you take me to your home?" My breath caught.
"My home?" I asked again, trying to be sure she knew what she was saying...Moreover, I should not hope for anything from a drunk lady, but I still hoped it was the truth.
She nodded against my shoulder. "They are heartless, they all planned it all... I do not want to go back and stare into their faces... I am done being nice." She gulped.
The driver, seeing us approach, was already standing anxiously by the car, the door wide open.
Carefully, I laid her into the back seat, just about to straighten, but she pulled my neck, her lips crashing on mine. I froze.
My eyes widened as I stared at her face, which was without blemish, her tongue pushing its way into my mouth. My groin tightened, her soft breasts rubbed against my chest.
I could barely hold back myself, but the fact she was drunk and definitely was not clear-minded tugged at my sanity.
I took a deep breath to calm my racing heart. I held her hand to stop her and then pulled away, hoping to put distance between us.
Seeing her struggle to be free, I sighed.
"Stop, or we are not going home," I whispered into her ear, and she stilled, but it was just for a moment.
"She is a disaster," I grumbled.
"Much better," Karl answered.
I slid into the car beside her, the driver taking the wheel. "Where?" he asked, shooting me a glance through the rearview.
"The mansion," I smirked.
I have spent most of my days in the penthouse because of its small space and limited number of staff, but now, with her clamouring to go home with me, it is best to go back to the mansion.
I took a deep breath and closed my eyes. I had to gather my thoughts together and examine the situation carefully.
But the next moment, she threw herself at me, totally clinging to me like an octopus, her head resting on my chest, her hand trailing across my body.
"Comfortable," she smirked quietly. My heart thudded harder, and Karl stirred. I wanted to hold her tighter, to roam my hands across her body, but no... I cannot, not now.
"Stop," I said, but rather than obey, she became more restless. "Do you know what you are doing?" I asked helplessly.
"Hmmm," she clipped. I was stumped. She had admitted it too fast.
Karl purred. "She is beautiful."
"More like too much Luna’s Kiss," I replied dryly.
"Adrian, you do not say that about her. You refused to stop her."
I chuckled softly.
"Yes, I did not stop her, but does she not know when to stop drinking? Pray the heat does not set ablaze."
"Adrian Carter, you do not treat her like that."
"Definitely," I mocked as I looked down at the small figure in my arms.
Throughout the journey, she was mumbling under her breath, her words incoherent and inconsistent, but then I was able to make out a few meanings.
She was supposed to be engaged, but it was disrupted by her sister, who seduced her fiancé, accusing her of infidelity.
I was glad the engagement did not hold. Maybe it was fate at work. If the engagement had gone through, then she would not have been here.
I sighed. "What is your name?" I asked.
"Stella Norton," she slurred. Her soft, seductive voice had me lower my head to capture her lips, and she responded with unmatched fervour.
I broke away from the kiss. I have not forgotten we are in the car. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
I was thinking she would have slept off, but then she was wide awake as the car turned towards the mansion.
Her phone buzzed, but she simply picked. "You do not call my number anymore. We are done," she muttered into the speaker.
I looked down at the phone screen, then smiled. She had not even picked the call. She is really wasted.
When the car stopped at the mansion gates, I had the guards stand down and gestured for the driver to leave.
Carefully, I lifted her into my arms and made my way into the mansion amidst the welcoming and greeting of the staff, who were surprised to see me home with a lady in my arms.
Their gazes darted between me and the lady in my arms inquisitively.
"She is my Luna," I said.
Their knees fell to the floor as they welcomed her home, but then Stella could only stare at their faces with confusion.
I walked past the living room and made my way to my bedroom. I would have taken her to the guest room, probably until she was in her right mind to understand the situation, but Karl would not have it.
Settling her on the bed, she lay down peacefully, in contrast to the restless lady in the car. I sighed with visible relief. At least that saved me from another round of torture.
But just as I spun on my heels to freshen up, she sat up. Her gaze, cold and piercing, shot through me like arrows.
"Let us get married," she said.
"Ahh!" Her words were like a thunderclap striking through the sky unexpectedly.
My breath caught, my heart raced, Karl growled in approval, but I was not ready to listen to such approval.
"Get married?" I asked with disbelief and doubt.
"You are unwilling?" she asked, her voice icy, her gaze glacial, an expression that left me wondering if she was really drunk.
"We can talk about this in the morning," I said, hoping she would understand.
"There is nothing to talk about in the morning," she smirked.
"At the moment, you are not just yourself alone... you are drunk."
"Does it matter? Besides, I might change my mind if I wait till morning," she said, her voice firm.
I shook my head. "You are not making a clear decision now, and..."
"If you are unwilling to get married, then get out of the way while I go out to search for someone ready to marry."
I stared at her for a while. My heart dropped and then accelerated. Karl growled furiously. "If she leaves..."
"Karl, this is not as simple as you think. She might wake up in the morning and accuse us of taking advantage of her." I tried to explain, but he simply huffed and went quiet.
I understood how he felt. Being without a mate has taken its toll on us over the years. The council and the packs were restless despite how I strived to manage them well.
"Stella, you do not just get married on the spot," I tried to reason.
But the next moment, she broke down in tears. My heart clenched, Karl, furious, wanted to come to the surface, but I could not let him. "Adrian?"
"You let me handle this."
"Am I not beautiful enough?" she asked, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"I never said so," I answered anxiously and helplessly, but she continued. "He feels he is the only one in the world, so I must surprise him. While he spends his time preparing his wedding, I want to be a step ahead."
My gaze narrowed. "Was she embarking on revenge?" I mused.
"I must prove to Phina she would not always be better and be chosen over me," she murmured.
I looked at her one last time. "Stella, are you certain you must do this?" I asked.
"Very certain."
I bent down slightly to meet her gaze, staring into her eyeballs, which met mine unwaveringly.
Karl purred. "She has already made the decision. Do you still need to ask? Are you hoping she will change her mind?" he taunted.
"Then, what about this..." I began.
The next moment, she pulled my tie, which I had just loosened, her arms swiftly snaked around my neck, and together we fell on the king-size bed.
