Flash Marriage Husband is an Alpha-Chapter 29: Expressive...
~Stella~
I stepped out of The Palace Hotel lobby with mixed emotions. Every arrangement had been made and perfected yet I couldn’t feel at ease until the last puzzle was fixed.
With slow, steady steps I took to the road. At this moment, I needed this short stroll to ease the tension while the fierce countenance of someone in control was peeled away and strewn out into the street.
At this moment, I was just the useless, helpless, and embarrassing daughter of the Norton family.
A lie I had lived and had come to love so much over the years ...hopefully tonight, it would be my winning ticket against Phina.
A few meters away from the hotel, a car swiftly pulled up, rightly blocking my path. My lips parted to curse the reckless driver, but the door slid open slowly.
My breath caught, my pulse quickened, my brain spun with calculations, my gaze swept the area for the possible means of escape.
I wouldn’t want to take any chances at a fight now... not now... not when I’m about to win this fight with Phina and victory within my grasp. I took a step back, eyeing the car warily.
The next moment, a long leg stepped out of the car first, the charcoal shoe glistening under the evening sun.
My gaze narrowed, and I gulped. My nostrils twitched at a scent that felt oddly familiar, yet I couldn’t recall where I had met such.
I felt a cold shiver sweep over my body, my heart tightened at the chill . "Stella, have you offended someone you shouldn’t?" I whispered to myself, though I couldn’t find the answer to that question.
With his face still hidden inside the car, my thoughts raced through every possibility and worst case scenario... but none made sense.
And when logic failed, instinct took over and I did the one thing anyone could have done.
Slowly backing away, ready to run, but just a few steps away, his body emerged from the car, his hand slowly buttoning his suit with unhurried confidence..
My gaze lifted to see the face, but then it was eyes locked with that familiar face I had woken up to yesterday, and my breath caught.
My brow furrowed, my gaze narrowed, my lips parted to ask how he got here, but then I remembered the car that had sped past the café leaving a gust of dust in its wake.
My heart raged with fury, my fist clenched by my side.
If he was that fast to speed away, why should he block my way now?
I huffed and turned to leave, but he seemed to have predicted my course of action, or was it that he was faster than I had anticipated... I couldn’t say, but his hand shot forward, and effortlessly he pulled me into his embrace.
His cologne hitting my nostrils—mint, cold, and refreshing. My heart drummed against my chest with emotions I couldn’t quite place.
"Let go," I said coldly, my hand pressed against his chest to push him away while the other clutched tightly at the envelope.
He chuckled softly. The low rumble of his voice seemed to ignite a flame. My eyes stopped on his Adam’s apple, watching it roll up and down; my thoughts flashed with a question I never imagined I would ever ask all my life...
How would he feel when I kissed him on his Adam’s apple?
I felt my nipples harden. "What?!" I screamed loud in my head, my cheeks flushed, a slight shiver coursed through my veins.
The alarm bells snapped off in my head to step away from him as fast as possible, but then I couldn’t... not when his closeness and his embrace were all I wanted at the moment. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
A calmness I craved, a heat I desired, a touch I wanted to feel so much. His hand slowly pressed my head down to his chest... his heart drummed hard and steady against my ears.
I know I had to leave at this moment.
I can’t be seen with him, not until I was through with the Nortons’ family.
I can’t bring him into the picture.
With the time ticking away, I knew I had to return to the Nortons’ family to set the third stage in motion.
Yet, I found myself reluctant and unwilling to leave.
"Why are you angry?" his voice rumbled above my hair, his voice vibrating against my ear.
I took a deep breath and slowly stepped away from his embrace. "Nothing," I answered; my expression might be calm, but my heart was anything but calm.
He slid his hands into his pockets. "Little wife, you don’t have to deny it, it was written in bold letters across your face." He smirked.
My heart skipped a breath. "Was my face that expressive?" I muttered to myself.
"Clearly expressive," he responded. My cheeks flushed in embarrassment; I didn’t know he could hear such a soft murmur.
"I have something to do... I will go first," I said and turned to leave, but my hand was clasped in his—gentle yet firm.
"Let’s go together. I would drop you off," he said, his eyes twinkling with that golden fleck that seemed to tug at my heartstrings.
I found myself rooted to the spot...unmoving and yet I couldn’t take my gaze away from his eyes.
"What?" he asked after a brief moment.
"Your eyes," I murmured, but not as a question.
He chuckled but offered no comment. In a trance, I was helped into the car, and the car slid shut.
My heart raced as his scent engulfed every one of my senses, keeping me trapped in a thought I couldn’t believe was mine.
He pulled me into his arms so that my head was resting on his chest, his hand circled my waist, and the other slowly traced the bones of my fingers.
Being in such a close proximity, all I could feel was the heat radiating off his body, the fire that coursed through my veins, and the desire that pulsed through my mind.
His head lowered as he placed a few light, feather-soft kisses on my forehead. Clouded with desire, I lifted my head, giving him the opportunity of capturing my lips—hot, domineering, and needy. He devoured every inch of my mouth, setting my whole body ablaze.
