Flash Marriage With Mr. Sheffield: Go Away, Cheap Man!-Chapter 197: Returning to Valeria
In early August, Silas Sheffield, having finished his work at the company, finally had some time to give himself a break.
He booked a flight for August 10th to fly to Valeria to take Clara Sterling to visit her grandmother.
At 12:30 PM, the plane landed in Valeria.
Valeria was the hometown of Zeke Sheffield’s late wife, Sharon Sherman, and Zeke had established several companies there in the early years.
Silas Sheffield wrapped an arm around Clara Sterling as they walked towards the exit, "The person coming to pick us up is Marcus Bishop, the general manager of the Valeria branch."
Clara Sterling nodded, "Okay."
The two had just reached the exit.
"Silas, over here!"
Clara Sterling followed the voice and saw a girl with a high ponytail, wearing a white dress, waving at them.
"Why is she here?" Silas Sheffield was also a bit surprised to see the girl.
"Who is she?" Clara Sterling asked.
"The younger sister of a childhood friend," Silas Sheffield said calmly.
Clara Sterling asked, "Why haven’t you mentioned her before?"
"There’s nothing much to say," Silas Sheffield replied indifferently.
Clara Sterling didn’t ask further questions. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
In the meantime, the two had walked up to the girl.
Next to the girl stood a man in a suit, likely Marcus Bishop, the general manager of the Valeria branch, as Silas Sheffield had mentioned.
"Silas, you finally came back to Valeria. I’ve missed you so much," the girl said with a reserved smile, her eyes fixed on Silas Sheffield.
Hearing such straightforward words, Clara Sterling felt slightly uncomfortable but didn’t show it.
"This is your sister-in-law, Clara Sterling," Silas Sheffield introduced to the girl.
The girl hadn’t even glanced at Clara Sterling earlier, but hearing Silas Sheffield’s words, she reluctantly looked at Clara Sterling and greeted with a smile, "Hello, Sister Clara."
Clara Sterling wasn’t sure if it was her illusion, but she felt that though the girl was smiling at her, the smile didn’t reach her eyes and didn’t seem sincere.
Moreover, Silas Sheffield had already referred to her as the sister-in-law, yet the girl didn’t follow his cue to address her as "sister-in-law" but instead called her "Sister Clara."
Clara Sterling’s intuition told her that the girl seemingly didn’t welcome her.
"This is the younger sister of my childhood friend, Shannon Langley," Silas Sheffield introduced.
"Hello." Clara Sterling pulled her lips into a faint, indifferent smile in response.
Marcus Bishop took the suitcase and carried it.
Shannon Langley, smiling, reached to link arms with Silas Sheffield, "Silas, it’s been so long since I last saw you. How long are you planning to stay in Valeria this time?"
Watching Shannon Langley’s action, Clara Sterling’s eyebrows slowly knitted, a hint of displeasure flashing in her eyes.
Silas Sheffield subtly avoided Shannon Langley’s hand, "We’ll see."
He then distanced himself from Shannon Langley, holding Clara Sterling by the shoulder with one hand while carrying her bag with the other, "It depends on how long your sister-in-law wants to stay."
Shannon Langley’s outstretched hand froze mid-air, and she retracted it nonchalantly, "Oh, I see."
"Silas, I booked a restaurant, the one that you like with Valeria’s home-style cuisine," Shannon Langley, seemingly unembarrassed at all, smiled sweetly and obediently.
"Okay," Silas Sheffield replied, his tone indifferent, "Just right, your sister-in-law hasn’t tried Valeria cuisine. Take her to taste it."
"Wanna try?" Silas Sheffield turned slightly, his tone becoming softer when he looked at Clara Sterling, "The food here is quite spicy, if you don’t feel like eating spicy food, we can have something else."
Clara Sterling’s injuries had already healed, allowing her to eat freely now.
Silas Sheffield’s gesture made Clara Sterling feel much better.
She nodded with a smile, "Sure, I haven’t had spicy food in a while, I’ve been eating too bland lately, just craving something spicy."
Shannon Langley pursed her lips silently, her eyes downcast as if deep in thought.
They arrived at the parking lot.
Marcus Bishop put the luggage into the trunk.
Shannon Langley sat first in the back seat.
It was a Maybach S680, with four seats, the back having two independent seats.
"Sister Clara, would you like to sit in the passenger seat?"
Shannon Langley smiled sweetly, her voice soft and gentle, appearing completely harmless.
"I haven’t seen Silas in a long time, I have so much to say to him."
Clara Sterling stood motionless, quietly looking at Shannon Langley, saying nothing.
Silas Sheffield, however, frowned, his eyes flashing with a hint of coldness.
"Get down and sit in the front."
"No," Shannon Langley softly bit her lower lip, looking aggrieved.
"I just want to sit with Silas, it’s been so long since you contacted me or visited me. I just want to talk to you more. Why can’t I sit in the back with you?"
"It’s just sitting side by side." Shannon Langley’s eyes brimmed slightly with tears as she looked at Clara Sterling, "Sister Clara wouldn’t be so petty, right? I can’t even sit next to Silas?"
Clara Sterling found it amusing, "I never said you couldn’t."
Saying this, she opened the passenger door and sat in.
Shannon Langley lowered her head, hiding a fleeting and barely noticeable smile.
The next second, Shannon Langley looked up again with a bright smile, "Thank you, Sister Clara, I knew you’d be so generous."
Silas Sheffield saw that Clara Sterling had already sat in the passenger seat.
He wanted to scold Shannon Langley for a few lines, but when he thought of her brother, he swallowed the words back down.
He spoke coldly to Marcus Bishop, "You go to the back."
"Huh?" Marcus Bishop was a bit confused.
He was here today to drive the boss, yet the boss told him to sit at the back?
The boss driving and him sitting at the back, wasn’t that turning the world upside down?
But seeing the coldness in his boss’s eyes, Marcus Bishop dared not ask any further, immediately got out of the car, walked to the back, opened the door, and sat inside.
Shannon Langley’s smile stiffened, "Silas, do you really not want to sit with me? Did I do something to upset you?"
Silas Sheffield coldly responded, "No, I just want to sit with your sister-in-law."
Clara Sterling said nothing, turning her head to look out the window.
Silas Sheffield noticed she seemed a bit unhappy, so he told Shannon Langley, "Shannon Langley, I’m married now, and you’re no longer a child. Don’t cling to me like you used to."
Shannon Langley’s voice became dejected, "I understand."
Silas Sheffield quietly glanced at Clara Sterling.
She still looked out the window, showing no intention of engaging with him.
Little did he know, Clara Sterling felt even more annoyed after hearing him say that Shannon Langley used to cling to him as a child.
