Flip the Coin [BL]-Chapter 387. Waves and Tides
"If not, we will get Jeyjey and some DMT here," Henry said somberly.
"Yeah. I can’t tell if they came directly from the sewer, but we’ll go down there." I tapped the little cement block with my foot.
I can’t tell exactly where the portal had been, because my rat counterpart moved fast; for him, everything was foreign, and the viewpoint was off.
"I’ll go first," Henry started.
"No. We’ll teleport, and I’ll go first." I didn’t want to discuss this at length, but I feared that by some off chance the sewer had been filled up, and Henry would be stuck between concrete if he went first.
I heard neither water nor anything else inside, so I couldn’t tell what was down there.
I gave Henry a look that didn’t allow any refutation after taking off my sunglasses and mask.
He did the same and clenched his jaw but then closed his eyes to concentrate on his ears.
"Okay." He gave in after a few seconds of not hearing anything dangerous.
I chuckled and teleported into the sewer.
The first thing down there I noticed, besides the fact that the tunnel was indeed intact and not filled up, was the stench of blood and decay.
The next thing I felt was pain in my neck.
My hand snapped to the spot, and I felt chicken-like skin that was as cold as dead rats, but this thing was moving.
The shock of getting attacked so much faster than I had anticipated made me halt for half a second, but then I crushed the body in my hands and ripped it from my neck, together with a bit of flesh and blood.
Henry appeared behind me the next moment.
"SHIELD!" I commanded while looking at the thing that had attacked me.
A pink rat that, however, looked more like a ferret.
"What happened?" Henry snarled, the see-through shield already surrounding us.
Usually, there would be water inside this tunnel because of sewage and stuff that would have hinted about the space inside the tunnel, but it was absolutely dry in the canal beside our feet.
There was also no breeze or anything—and the typical sewer smell was fully covered by the stench of blood and decay.
"Get rid of my blood," I said while looking at the ground. We already saw with the crystalline figure that had turned red what my blood would do to monsters.
"Wait!" I stopped Henry.
He luckily hadn’t already acidified my blood and stopped timely, now putting his hand on my already healed wound.
"It’s alright. Nothing here can hurt me."
"It already did." He scoffed.
"Shut it." I waited inside the shield with bated breath, as I became fidgety, this whole thing turning into something exciting.
It would really make everything so much easier if we had something that attracted them more than fresh flesh had, and I had already thought of testing it with my blood.
This was a good opportunity, not bad at all.
"Get me a wet towel," Henry hissed into my ear, so I conjured it up for him, and he took it upon himself to clean up my neck while he dissolved the pink ferret on the ground.
Then I could hear something like water rushing toward us, and I thought for a moment that some wave of shit and piss was heading our way, but the sound didn’t really grow as loud as you would expect from water rushing forward.
But it definitely came closer, and the ground started to vibrate slightly.
Henry stopped his actions and let the towel fall as we looked ahead.
However, this tunnel had evidently two sides, and the sound came from both sides, so we turned our heads while we waited.
And it really came—a wave rushing toward us from one side, and soon after from the other direction as well.
A wave of rat-like, ferret-like, cat-like, and dog-like little pink and brown monsters—the latter a color I hadn’t seen on them.
Different-looking eyes, from small to protruding, but each and every rat had the unsettling pupils that weren’t round or oval but like a festering wound.
They moved along the ground; they moved over each other; they moved on the walls, on the fucking ceiling. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
Just one thing was clear: they all came because they had indeed been lured by something they couldn’t resist.
"Hahaha!" I felt some excitement rise and overshadow my disgust as they came closer rapidly, coming closer in an instant.
"HENRY, POWER OF DESTRUCTION!" I yelled against the rising tides that closed in on us.
"Where did your compassion go?" He jabbed while he raised his hands to each side of the tunnel before spreading the shadowy energy.
I made a step to my right to touch the crystalline surface as I watched this tremendous power up close, tide against tide, from living to destruction, and I noticed that he was right.
That there was no pity inside me anymore, but only a clear goal accompanied by a deep fascination.
The clear goal was to eliminate everything that could harm Henry and the other people important to me.
The fascination directed itself at Henry and his power.
I fell in love anew with the absolute ease with which everything in its way was destroyed, and I freshly remembered how it felt when I wielded it at my fingertips while controlling him.
The shadowy tide annexed everything in its path; both sides of the tunnel were mercilessly eradicated of every bit of life that came at us.
I chuckled while I watched before turning to Henry and seeing him breaking out in a light sweat. He hadn’t stopped for a moment, constantly sending more shadowy energy outside because the rats didn’t stop coming, and that was while he still upheld the shield.
"Poor puppy." I stepped in front of him with a grin.
"Want a kiss?" I asked him, tapping my lips before tapping his.
"You know I do," he grunted.
"Mhm. I know you do." I heard my own voice deepen, satisfied with his answer and with his obedience when it really mattered.
I bit my tongue hard and felt my mouth fill with blood before I grabbed his neck and forced him down to me to let him taste the giant’s blood and to let him taste me.
Very satisfied, very happy, I suddenly felt elated with this outing.
But I also felt a bit unhappy at the impulse to bite down on the tongue that was pushing itself against mine.
Because I remembered the rabies-like symptoms that would befall people that were bitten by pink rats, and I felt a bit strange right now—a little overexcited and aggressive, to be specific.
And maybe it wasn’t that good to spread my blood to him during this state.
I backed up instantly.
"Do you feel excited and aggressive?"
"Constantly," Henry answered while licking his lips, looking down at me hungrily.
"Pfft, no, the rabies," I chuckled while I touched my neck.
Henry’s face fell at my words, and he instantly yelled at me to stop when I clawed at my skin.
I felt something under my already healed skin.
It was really unsettling to feel something like this.
So fucking unsettling that I grabbed the part and ripped it out, seeing blood spurt out of my throat like a waterfall.
"...fuck." I looked at the piece of flesh in my hand and felt very thin, needle-like little teeth inside, along with something squirming.
I knew there had been something under my skin.
Not just something like fucking teeth, but there were little worms in my hand that looked awfully similar to the worms the rats had hunted down to eat, and they grew rapidly, probably because they were consuming my blood.
I turned back to Henry, who looked at me with absolute horror; his face was contorted terrifyingly as he watched me bleeding worryingly much, and I think the squirming worms in my bloody hand that just came out of my body didn’t help.
I crushed the worms; I had a feeling that the reason these things lived long enough to survive against a rapid healing body had been the teeth that had stuck inside my neck.
The worms were dead, but blood flow didn’t stop at all. It was not only like I had clawed at an important artery, but also as if my body wanted to flush out the shit that had entered.
Now we had a tide of destruction, a tide of never-stopping monsters, and a wave of blood.
"I think a lot more rats will come," I chuckled, seeing black spots in my view.
I could already feel how my body repaired the wound, but I knew I would black out soon nevertheless.
"Take care of the rats; I’ll take a nap. I am alright."
I took a look at Henry and saw him nod shortly as his terror-stricken face grew stoic, cold, and expressionless, a silver hue flashing across his eyes that his contact lenses couldn’t conceal.
I think he is a bit angry... I already have a headache thinking about his nagging when I wake up.
I partly sat down and partly fell in an attempt to rest on the ground and lean against Henry’s legs while I conjured up the shawl again and tied it tightly around my neck to help stop the bleeding, given my body was already finished with flushing out, and I had started healing.
My last thought went to my poor angry puppy, who had just been traumatized again, as well as to that damn idiot who not only sliced his own throat but also strangled himself in an attempt to stop the bleeding he had caused.
