Chapter 438: 438. Warehouse

So as it turned out, there was no phone, not in our room, not in the bathroom, and Henry told me he didn’t find it in the cursed bathroom either, after I refused to take even one step in there and he went in there for me while chuckling.

I had probably lost the dead phone while fighting with Ren in that place, and we now knew that there was nothing there we could charge.

So that was it.

Henry went to Ethan to get a new one, while Kitty and I had a staring contest in my room.

The kid hugged me and napped beside me while I told the tiger,

"I can’t right now; don’t you see how fucking weak I am?" I raised my arm with a tremble that I didn’t even have to fake.

But the red eyes were unbudging in their reproach.

Letting my arm fall again, I raised three fingers instead.

Kitty got the message and went to the corner where some blankets still were and lay down.

The tiger shot me a warning glance before closing his eyes, as if there would be consequences if I didn’t provide him with what I promised.

I pressed my lips together...

Threatened by someone called Kitty, by someone who was knocked out by one punch the last time...and all that for a thirteen-year-old carp.

Alright.

Henry entered the room and held a new phone in his hand; he jumped on the mattress and showed off as if he had just assembled it himself.

I wanted to take it, but it was held hostage; with his head lowered, Henry was very clear on what he wanted in exchange.

"Pfft. Thank you very much." I combed through his fur for some time before he finally gave it over.

He shuffled behind me and held me from behind to look over my shoulder, at the same time becoming a very comfortable backrest.

So many forms my puppy can take on; it was fucking mind-boggling.

I turned on the phone and noted there was a SIM card already in it. After declining a bunch of updates that would have taken forever, I first went online.

Mhm, there was still the warning, just with a few additional lines that stated that using the water from the South Lake as drinking water was dangerous and prohibited.

I broke into laughter, thinking of what Ethan had told me last time.

Henry laughed with me.

"Don’t blackmail people with water if you have filled up a huge hole with... water."

"BAHAHAHA! True, what a shitshow." I could only agree before asking Henry for his number, which he recited effortlessly.

"Alright. Leave your phone on vibration, and keep it in your pant pocket so you notice me reaching out for you."

"Mhmm~" The way he hummed before nuzzling my neck made it seem as if I had just suggested something dirty.

"Really? The words ’vibration’ and ’pant pocket’ get you to make such a sound?" I asked speechlessly.

"I am a young and vigorous man, and the last time I was bathed was sooo long ago ~"

"Wasn’t that just yesterday?" I chuckled.

"I am a young and vi—" He repeated when I stopped him.

"Yes, yes, yes. Shut up now." I looked into the contacts and found that ’puppy’ was the only one saved now, so I asked the laughing Henry for Ethan’s number.

When he got a grip again, he could recite that one as well.

"Not bad," I praised.

"You got the number of one of the guys memorized as well?"

Henry went silent until I elbowed him a few times, and he finally recited a number that was apparently Jordan’s.

I directly sent a message, and before I could look, I was pulled into a group chat with all of them welcoming me warmly with a few ’FINALLY’s,’ with Danny sending joyful crying GIFs, and Omar asking if this was really me, as if he feared that Henry was pulling a prank on them.

"Your reputation isn’t the best with my friends."

"Oh... Oohhhh noooo..." He couldn’t sound more fake, so he didn’t seem to mind.

So I wrote them to stop their bullshit and asked them to not come today to the warehouse in case they had planned to.

There was no reason to get them any further on the government’s radar.

The other two said they hadn’t planned to, but Omar stayed silent.

After a bit of back and forth, he told me that he had asked Ethan if he could be present because he had a feeling that someone from the Lawrence family would show up.

That was good to know.

However, Ethan did decline, and I did too:

K: How will you find out shit secretly if you show so clearly on which side you are?

I showed the message to Henry and heard him hum before sending it and got his promise to not suddenly show up.

"Don’t go kill any Lawrence people today in case they really come. Stay chill as long as we don’t know more about them and this mysterious superpower," I told the puppy.

"I know. I won’t." Henry sighed.

"Very good. Show me your phone." I sent him a message so that he got the new number and watched him put my name in, ’Kenny,’ and then a bunch of hearts...

Well, I cringed, but not too hard, because I suddenly found that cringy behavior somehow cute?! We have another clear sign here that I had now fully lost it.

"...Alright." I tapped on his phone that he held in front of me and checked that he was really on vibration, then I noted the time.

"Get contact lenses and a mask, and change clothes," I ordered, and he started to whine.

This gave me a moment to also check his phone’s power level, and seeing it full, I was relieved, as he was apparently someone who charged his phone.

"Come on, I will watch over you the whole time." I placed my phone in my lap and pulled Henry’s head to me to kiss him, though I held it relatively chaste, as there was also a kid sleeping not far away with his arms around me as well.

Henry licked his lips, showing an expression that said he was not satisfied at all, and whined some more before finally standing up and leaving the room.

The moment the door closed, Kitty yawned in the corner and groggily stood up to sit beside the mattress.

"....." I raised my trembling arm again, speechlessly.

"We talked not even thirty minutes ago. I am still too weak."

The tiger looked at me with equal dissatisfaction to my puppy, which was a bit insulting because it put me on the same level as thirteen-year-old carp.

I thought about how cats didn’t like water and conjured up a little water gun from my childhood. It looked like a little neon see-through red pistol with a bit of water in it.

I pointed it at the tiger while holding back laughter and found him unimpressed by being held at gunpoint.

It should have just been a joke, but the tiger seemed to belittle me, and what started as fun and games ended in a fierce confrontation.

In the end, the tiger yawned cockily, as if to underline his boredom, so I fired.

Kitty’s snout was met with a few droplets of water; part went into his mouth, and he clammed up to look at me in absolute shock and insult.

"..." Now I felt a bit sorry, but it was really just a few droplets because these small water guns tend to be garbage....

Before I could apologize, Kitty turned around and went into his corner to groom his face.

I looked at the water gun in appreciation. This really worked.

Hmm...would this also help with dealing with horny puppies?

Not bad to have that up my sleeve.

I let the water gun disappear and waited for Henry, who seemed to be taking a shower with how long he needed to come back.

I patted Ren’s head, still baffled that we would really go through with this shit, and stared into nothingness.

Everyone worked so hard for this to happen...damn, I feel a bit touched. Maybe I should give a chief-worthy speech or something?

When Henry came back with his hair half wet, a black mask covering his mouth and nose, and his overall tight-fitting blackout fit, he looked ravishingly handsome.

It seemed he got these clothes from the attic or something, because I hadn’t seen them before.

"Wow," I applauded quietly.

It was just a pity that his eye color was dimmed down to a human blue; if not, he would have looked even more godly... though there was no need to top that handsomeness up when he would go outside.

Henry seemed ready to pounce on me after receiving my praise, his eyes curling as he laughed deeply, but he stopped himself with the kid sleeping and just returned to his position behind me to hug me to death.

"Handsome?" he asked again.

"Lock-you-up-Handsome," I agreed and conjured up a towel to place on the puppy’s head resting on my shoulder.

"Which is the best form of handsome." Henry happily growled into my ear, the mask muffling a bit of his craving voice.

"Do you have a gun?" I asked after patting his head.

The worst case would be that he had to use his power.

But in a bad case, he should have a gun.

Henry bent to my side to lift the dark jacket he already had on, showing me an equipped gun holster.

Fuck... This looked so fucking hot on him.

I hummed and grabbed his face to peck his lips again while rubbing the towel over his head.

"You like my gun?" he asked.

"..." Why did this sound so explicit again when coming from his lips?

Was now a good opportunity to test the water gun?

"WE ARE LEAVING! COME OUT!" The old dragon yelled, stopping the puppy from getting sprayed.

I peeled the kid off of me without waking him up before I pulled the laughing Henry up, which ended with him pulling me up because I didn’t have any strength.

He helped me out of our room, and upon seeing my grandmother, he instantly told her,

"I can just teleport there."

"No! You are driving with us!" My grandmother sported a long violet dress that was much more suitable for an opera, but the shoes on her feet looked like military boots that came in the same violet color.

.... So she knows that it’s good to be able to run in the worst case.

The old violet dragon looked at Henry after announcing her part before looking at me, as if she were waiting for me to say some greeting words before their departure.

"Thank you, please be careful." I would have worried about her, but with Ethan and Henry coming along, the former extremely tactical and good with words, the latter overpowered as fuck, I didn’t have to.

Additionally, pictures and words would be delivered by me through the laptop.

"Ha, as if these little men could do anything to me." She scoffed, and I sighed.

Don’t let her rope you into another fight. She had looked at me expectantly, so I wanted to be a good grandson. The next thing she did was belittle my whole gender, just for her amusement.

"Please be careful." The staff sergeant came down the staircase with Ethan and said the same thing to her I did, just that my grandmother did not answer him the same degrading way.

She didn’t answer at all and just pressed her lips together before evading his gaze, WHICH WAS SO MUCH BETTER THAN HER ANSWER TO ME?!

Anyway, the staff sergeant would apparently stay with us, the rest were ready to go, and my grandmother turned away to first walk out of the door unfeelingly.

"Just teleport there," I told Henry.

"HE IS DRIVING WITH ME!" The dragon yelled from outside the door, and I was ready to yell back at her when Henry put his arm around my neck and pulled me to him.

"It’s alright."

"Please remember to—" Ethan had his hair slicked back and wore a suit that looked much more expensive.

"I won’t show up, don’t worry. And thank you."

Ethan nodded before also leaving, and Henry hugged me for a long, crushing time before asking me if he should bring me back to the kitchen.

"No, it’s alright. I can still manage the two meters myself." I patted the puppy and hugged him back before he finally let go.

He went out of the door before reappearing in the entrance and blowing me a kiss, and while I cringed internally and looked back dumbfoundedly, he left for good.

The staff sergeant cleared his throat uncomfortably and went into the kitchen first, and I followed him.

We ended up sitting together, with me on the bench and him on a chair, with just an empty chair between us, in even more uncomfortable silence, while staring at the laptop where we just looked at the warehouse with nobody in it.

Well, it took more than an hour until they finally arrived, with Henry blowing a kiss once again at one of the cameras, and it took even longer until the other participants arrived.

Ethan managed everything formidably as always, and it seemed that everything went well when the surprising guests arrived, making a bit of chaos.

I chuckled when I saw a face I hadn’t seen for a fucking long time, or better said, quite a few faces, and instantly grabbed my phone to send a message to Henry when I saw him taking a step forward, as if he wanted to attack.

"Who is this prick?" The staff sergeant asked, pointing at the yelling man on the screen.

"My grandmother’s son," I answered with a laugh, before clarifying,

"My father."
