Flirted Wrong, Married Right-Chapter 796: Killing Two Birds with One Stone
Returning to her room, Evelyn Clayton shut the door tightly.
She walked to the balcony, lit a cigarette, and began to smoke silently.
Amidst the swirling smoke, Evelyn’s brows were furrowed tightly.
Regarding the Sinclair family treating her as a replacement for Aaron, Evelyn actually didn’t mind.
It wasn’t that she didn’t care about the Sinclair family or didn’t regard Pauline Warren, Silas Sinclair, and Shane Sinclair as her own family.
It was just because Evelyn understood very clearly—
She and the Sinclair family met by chance and she accepted their help for so many years. To put it plainly, she indeed enjoyed the wealth and luxury provided by them.
Moreover, the Sinclair family treated Sharon as one of their own.
For this reason alone, Evelyn’s gratitude towards the Sinclair family had reached its peak.
She didn’t express it because she knew that the Sinclair family would never want her gratitude.
Because to some extent, they already considered her as their daughter, Aaron.
Being good to Aaron, how could Aaron ’repay’ them?
Therefore, what Evelyn could do was to create as much profit for Apex as possible, and when the time came to take action, ensure that the Sinclair family wouldn’t be implicated.
Thinking of this, Evelyn lowered her gaze.
Principal Shaw’s death signified that the person had officially declared war on her.
This blatant car accident might have been his provocation.
If so, there was no need for her to be overly cautious anymore.
Evelyn took out her phone, and in a moment of inspiration, found the number that the mysterious person had called from and sent a text message.
She wasn’t sure if the mysterious person would receive her message, but Evelyn wanted to try.
If by chance, that person had ’mysterious powers’, who could say for sure.
Five minutes after the message was sent, Evelyn’s phone lit up.
A call came in from a long, unfamiliar number, and Evelyn didn’t rush to answer, instead, she opened the anti-tracking software.
After confirming there was nothing abnormal, Evelyn answered the call.
This time, without waiting for the person on the other end to speak, Evelyn got straight to the point.
"You said you have that recording. What do you want in return for giving it to me?"
A familiar, eerie laughter came through, "Have you thought it through?"
Evelyn responded with a hum, "Do you want money or something else? Or is there something you need me to do? As long as it’s within a reasonable scope, I can consider it."
The mysterious person’s laughter was full of pleasure, "Don’t worry, what I ask will definitely be within your capability."
"Please, go ahead."
"I want you to, under the identity of Shannon Sinclair, appear in Aethelburg’s high society, and then find a way to expose the relationship between Arthur Chandler and Summer Monroe."
Upon hearing Summer Monroe’s name, Evelyn felt a sudden sense of dizziness.
It seemed like meeting Summer was something from a past life.
Evelyn’s expression grew more somber, and she slowly said, "I need to think about your request."
The mysterious person wasn’t offended and chuckled lightly, "Take your time, as soon as you accomplish this, I’ll immediately give you the recording."
"How do I know you’re not deceiving me?" Evelyn bit her lip slightly.
The mysterious person’s rough voice gave a mocking sigh, "Evelyn Clayton, the initiative is in my hands now. Without me, you might need to pay a steep price to get leverage over Arthur Chandler, but now I’m offering it to you for free, and you still want to negotiate terms with me?"
Evelyn wasn’t about negotiating terms.
She merely wished to glean more information about the mysterious person’s identity from his words.
"I’m not negotiating with you, but if I accomplish this for you, Arthur Chandler will certainly give me trouble. And Summer Monroe, they’re not easy to deal with. If something happens to me then, wouldn’t that be killing two birds with one stone for you?"
