Floating Island - Triple S Talent-Chapter 503: Side effects
However, despite the pride in his voice, Lein could detect a trace of sorrow hidden within.
Lein gave a slight nod. No wonder Zanthor possessed such knowledge about this matter. "By the way, what would happen if I entered the law zone without supervision?" he asked while gazing toward the center of the island.
In the distance, he saw a transparent dome protecting a rocky area that resembled fragments of an asteroid. Deep cracks adorned the rock's surface, while glowing streams of energy snaked through them in a mysterious rhythm, constantly flowing without end.
Zanthor smiled, but there was a certain firmness in his voice as he answered, "The immediate effect might be negligible, Elder Lein. But at worst, there's a risk of soul damage if one lingers too long in an unstable law zone."
Lein furrowed his brows. "Soul damage?" he muttered, feeling a slight discomfort at the thought. That was not something to take lightly. He lifted a hand to his chin, contemplating the information. "Quite fatal."
"Such cases are very rare, Elder Lein. With your strength, I'm sure there won't be any problems," Zanthor continued, his tone filled with confidence, even a hint of flattery. However, Lein sensed that Zanthor was deliberately trying to please him, something he found intriguing.
Curiosity drew him closer. Lein walked toward the shimmering dome, its glow faint yet persistent. With a slight burst of energy, his body shot forward, swiftly arriving at the entrance to the manifestation zone.
Standing before the grand silver gate, he swept his sharp black eyes over the interior. A small smirk formed at the corner of his lips. "The same zone… They really kept their word," he murmured, satisfied with the professionalism of the Invictus Sect.
Beyond the gate, the rocky terrain looked identical to the manifestation zone he had once seized. Floating land fragments drifted in the void, intersected by high-speed energy currents forming patterns that appeared chaotic yet strangely orderly. Lein could feel the power emanating from within, like threads of law pulsating with their own rhythm.
"Let's take a look," he said as he approached the gate.
Beside the door, a special mechanism was embedded for activating access. Lein retrieved his token with a casual motion and pressed it against the designated panel.
Immediately, the edges of the door lit up with a bright blue glow, intricate lines forming along its surface. Slowly, the gate began to open with an almost inaudible hum, revealing the interior of the manifestation zone.
"A transition area?" Lein whispered, slightly surprised by the security system in place. A buffer zone stretched before him, separating the outside world from the manifestation zone itself. The air in the chamber felt heavier, filled with a subtle yet unmistakable pressure of energy. Lein narrowed his eyes, trying to understand this mechanism more deeply.
"Is the manifestation zone not supposed to mix with the outside air?" Lein mused, recalling Zanthor's earlier words.
From afar, Zanthor could be seen rapidly approaching, the thin yet wide wings on his back flapping at a swift rhythm. His face was brimming with excitement, like a child afraid of missing out on a great adventure. Lein raised an eyebrow, his lips curving into a faint smile. "This guy really doesn't want to be left behind," he muttered.
In a blink, Zanthor landed before Lein, his body trembling slightly as he took quick breaths. The moment his feet touched the ground, his wings vanished instantly, reabsorbed into his body. Slightly out of breath, he exclaimed, "Elder Lein… wait!" His voice carried urgency, as if he feared losing the opportunity.
However, before Zanthor could make his request, Lein had already given him a flat look. "No."
Zanthor froze. His previously excited expression turned blank, his eyes widening slightly, as if he couldn't believe he was rejected outright without consideration.
Lein ignored the reaction and continued in a casual tone, "The manifestation zone shouldn't be exposed to the outside world?"
Zanthor exhaled slowly, regaining his composure. In a calmer voice, he answered, "Yes, Elder Lein. If exposed, the essence of the law will deplete significantly."
Lein nodded in understanding. "Alright, stay here and don't come in." His tone was light but firm.
It wasn't that he didn't want to let Zanthor enter. He simply wanted to test something first.

"The essence of the law, huh?" Lein smirked slightly. If the essence of the law was something that could be treated as an object, then theoretically, he should be able to duplicate it.
With a composed demeanor, he pressed his elder's token against the panel beside the second door. A blue light flickered momentarily before Lein heard the sound of mechanisms shifting behind him. The first door shut tightly, isolating the transition area. Then, the second door opened smoothly, revealing a familiar sight.
Massive rough stones were scattered irregularly within, forming a landscape that resembled an alien world. The air felt denser here, containing something unseen yet perceptible. Lein took a deep breath, his eyes scanning every corner of the manifestation zone.
As he stepped inside, a sense of familiarity washed over him. This environment was exactly the same as when he had fought to seize a manifestation zone before.
He released a bit of his essence, allowing his consciousness to spread throughout the area. For a moment, he felt an instability in the air, as if this world pulsed with a rhythm different from the outside world. Thin strands of energy flickered rapidly, too elusive to track with the naked eye.
"Is this what they call the essence of the law?" he murmured, his brows furrowing slightly. This energy was so delicate that it seemed almost impossible to grasp with ordinary senses.
Five minutes passed, yet Lein had not managed to capture a single strand of law energy. His brows furrowed deeper, his eyes sweeping across the rocky terrain, searching for an area with a higher concentration of energy.
Without hesitation, his body lifted off the ground. With a swift motion, Lein soared like a low-flying eagle, crossing the vast gap between two floating land masses. Within the crevice, streaks of lightning energy crackled wildly, creating sparks that lashed out in every direction. Lein slowed his pace, gazing at the flashes of energy with both curiosity and caution.
