Forced to Marry the Sickly Billionaire-Chapter 372 Familiar Figure
Chapter 372: Chapter 372 Familiar Figure
The butler asked in a low voice, "Master Shaw, are you still going to intervene?"
"Let them do as they please. None of them are easy to manage. I think they’re just trying to anger me to death for their satisfaction."
Master Shaw tiredly waved his hand at the butler, signaling him to leave.
The butler, helpless, stopped trying to persuade him, and quietly opened the door to leave.
However, as soon as he opened the door, he saw a familiar person standing outside.
"Mr. Nathaniel."
Hearing this address, Nathaniel Shaw’s expression stiffened for a moment, but he quickly returned to normal.
The Shaw Family didn’t really follow generational titles.
In theory, he should be called Second Master, as he is an elder.
But ever since Lucas Shaw took over the business, people outside started calling him Little Second Master.
Over time, even the "Little" part was dropped, and he was just called Second Master.
Since Nathaniel Shaw didn’t set foot in the business world, few people in the circle knew him.
Even at home, he was called Mr. Nathaniel.
"Mr. White, I’m here to see Dad. Is he resting?"
The butler glanced into the room and then stepped aside to let him in, "Please come in. Master hasn’t been feeling well lately, so please spend more time talking with him."
"Not feeling well? What’s going on? Last time I came, he was fine."
Nathaniel Shaw furrowed his brow with worry and walked inside.
Mr. White glanced at him and then slowly explained, "It’s really an old ailment, he’s had it before. But Master didn’t want to worry you, so he didn’t mention it."
Everyone in the Shaw Family knew about Master Shaw’s health issues.
Nathaniel Shaw spoke as if he was completely unaware.
Nathaniel Shaw realized he misspoke and his expression faltered, "I thought Dad might have developed a new condition I wasn’t aware of."
Master Shaw, leaning back in his chair, with eyes slightly closed, slowly opened them when he heard the conversation.
"You’ve come?"
His tone was indifferent, showing no hint of emotion.
Nathaniel Shaw crouched in front of Master Shaw, held his hand, and asked with concern, "Dad, the butler said your old ailment flared up again? Shouldn’t we go to the hospital for a checkup?"
"No need, Serena’s medicine is helping a lot already."
This illness mainly stems from a broken heart, starting two years ago from the news of Lucas Shaw’s accidental passing at sea.
If it weren’t for Serena Summers taking care of him, he’d probably be underground by now.
Nathaniel Shaw remained uneasy, continuing to persuade, "Why don’t we do a full-body checkup at the hospital? If everything’s fine, I’d feel relieved."
"Really, no need. Just handle Clara better, don’t let her cause trouble. It’s more effective than any examination."
Nathaniel Shaw’s gaze flickered, "Dad, you know everything?"
Master Shaw let out a cold snort, "You all made such a huge scene; it would be hard for me not to know."
Clara Shaw has turned out this way, and Nathaniel Shaw can’t shirk his responsibilities as her father.
He’s always been obsessed with photography, ignoring the family and leaving everything to Evelyn Hart.
And now? A perfectly good child is almost ruined.
"I opposed you being with Evelyn Hart before, and look what’s happened?" Master Shaw gave him a cold glance.
It wasn’t really about Evelyn Hart’s status; he just felt her intentions weren’t right.
When Vincent Shaw was managing the company, Evelyn Hart would cause a scene at home every day, accusing him of favoritism, caring only about the eldest.
But she didn’t consider that Nathaniel Shaw insisted on studying a different major in college and wanted to become a photographer after graduation.
Her husband had no aspirations, yet she blamed him for giving the company to someone else?
If it were really given to Nathaniel, the family fortune accumulated over generations would probably be destroyed.
He wouldn’t rest in peace even in death then.
Nathaniel Shaw lowered his head, a trace of guilt rising in his heart, "Dad, I was too headstrong when I was young, I failed to guide Clara properly."
"It’s still not too late, focus more on her; don’t wait until she makes an irrevocable mistake and come begging me for forgiveness. I won’t buy it."
"Alright, I understand."
Master Shaw slowly exhaled, leaned on his cane, and stood from his chair, "Alright, let’s head down. It should be time for dinner."
"Sure, let me help you."
Nathaniel Shaw reached out to support Master Shaw’s arm and headed toward the door.
On the way downstairs, they happened to meet Serena Summers and Adrian Holt also going down.
"Grandpa, the butler said you haven’t been feeling well again today. Let me check your pulse after dinner?"
"Alright, thank you, Serena." Master Shaw’s stern facade softened into a faint smile.
Serena’s lips curled slightly, the dimples on her cheeks slightly showing, making her look endearingly sweet and gentle.
Just seeing her smile warmed people’s hearts.
"It’s no trouble. Your good health means we will be better too."
Serena playfully blinked, her gaze particularly sincere.
Master Shaw was tickled by her, shaking his head helplessly, "Little mischievous one, just knows how to make Grandpa happy."
Serena’s eyes curved as her smile deepened, "I’m only speaking the truth. You treat me well, so I treat you well too."
Adrian Holt stood by her side, watching the scene, unable to resist a faint curve lifting his lips.
His Serena always knew how to cheer people up.
The usually serious Master Shaw couldn’t help but burst into laughter in front of her.
Nathaniel Shaw watched this scene silently, giving Serena an extra look.
At this moment, a chilly gaze suddenly shot toward him.
Nathaniel Shaw turned and met Adrian Holt’s deep, unseeable eyes.
He paused, then nodded with a smile at Adrian before turning back. "Dad, watch your step, don’t just focus on talking."
Adrian Holt, walking at the back, fixed his gaze on Nathaniel Shaw’s retreating figure, his expression clouded for a moment.
Serena, noticing he didn’t follow, halted and looked back.
Seeing Adrian standing there in a daze, she asked puzzledly, "Adrian, what’s wrong?"
"Nothing." Adrian withdrew his gaze, letting Serena lead him downstairs.
Liam Shaw was called back for a meeting at the company, while Adrian Shaw was rushing back from an event, arriving by noon.
The two met just at the doorway and then walked in together.
Only when they arrived did everyone truly gather.
Master Shaw instructed the servants, "Start serving the meal."
The servants nodded and then headed to the kitchen.
Soon enough, the dining table was filled with dishes.
The second and first houses sat on each side, with Master Shaw at the head seat.
Serena sat next to Adrian Holt, directly facing Clara Shaw.
Clara glanced at her, then dramatically rolled her eyes before quickly lowering her head, pretending to eat.
Faced with her provocation, Serena chose to simply ignore it.
She picked some of Adrian’s favorite food and placed it in his bowl, "Honey, eat more."
"Sure." Adrian gently smiled, reaching out to ruffle her fluffy hair.
