Forever Destined to the Silver Shadow-Chapter 242: Have they all lost their hands?!
Aaron’s POV:
Lyra was napping on the cold surface of the cavern while I was pacing next to the stony door anxiously. It has been a long time since my boys went through the door. They have still not arrived here.
I started to get anxious. What if something had happened to my boys? But Lyra wasn’t even a bit worried about the whole thing; she was lying down peacefully beside the fire torch that was providing her warmth.
Now that she was sleeping, I wasn’t scared of her anymore. Without my knowledge, I started to admire her. The pale yellow light from the fire torch elegantly showed off her beautiful features.
Her body had curves at the right places. Since she was wearing a semi-transparent short gown, I was able to see through her beauty. And I instantly felt guilty for lusting over another woman who wasn’t Lilin.
Still, I wasn’t able to restrain myself from admiring her pretty face, which was now partially concealed by her green hair. She might be dangerous and venomous—but she is pretty. It is no wonder how she was able to slay so many men with her venom.
If she can make the Prince of Incubus sway, then she can seduce any man. Just while I was admiring the venomous yet pretty girl, I heard a banging noise on the stony door. It must be my boys. Finally, they are here!
But why are they just banging the door instead of opening it by themselves? The noise woke up the sleeping beauty too! She groaned slightly and up from the surface slowly.
"What the heck is that?" she grunted while rubbing her eyes to wipe off the tiredness from her face.
"My boys have finally arrived, but they are just banging the door instead of opening it," I said to her.
She glared at me and yelled, "Then why are you standing still instead of opening the door for them?"
"Okay, my Queen! I will open the door," I said and paced towards the door. I liked her better when she was asleep. She became mean as soon as she woke up from her slumber.
The stony door was unlocked when I pulled it open. Why can’t my boys do such a simple thing like pushing the door? Have they all lost their hands?!
As soon as I saw my brother, I was filled up with horror. He really had lost a hand! Blood was seeping out in the place where he had his right hand.
"Anakin....." I shouted out. "What happened to you?"
"Silver Shadow happened," he said in a feeble tone. "He killed four other Incubus and chopped off my hand—"
My head started to spin. "They are dead?!" I gaped. "This is impossible—"
~~~~~~~~~~~
Anakin was in so much pain. Lyra made him lie down on the surface, and she tied up his injured right arm with his own shirt fabric. Even though he didn’t stop bleeding entirely, the fabric suppressed the flow scarcely.
I was entirely shocked. My brother doesn’t have a hand anymore! And four of my boys are dead. What will I tell my father when he comes to know about this? What will I tell the family of the dead?
Once Anakin got a bit stable, I started asking him questions.
"Anakin, now tell me how Silver Shadow was able to kill four of them?"
"Because he is an Anti-Angel," he shouted out so loud that his voice made a continuous echo in the cavern. "He killed four of the Incubus in a snap, and he was about to kill me too! But luckily, a pretty Siren girl saved me."
He tried to kill Anakin too! What would have happened if he had perished just like others?! Then my father would have slaughtered me; he always favored Anakin as he is the youngest and cutest one.
"This whole thing was a big mistake," Anakin went on. "We were aware that the Dawn is always protected by her Shadow. Still, we all went on to that dangerous quest just because you instructed us to do so. You are the one responsible for this disaster. You made me lose my hand, and you killed off four men for a cold-hearted woman who doesn’t even love you anymore—"
His statement had both truth and false in them. He was right about the part where he said that I was at fault. I take full responsibility for the loss of my boys. I should have known better than to let my unskilled boys mess with Dawn and her Shadow.
But he was wrong about the part where he said that Lilin doesn’t love me anymore—because she does love me. And Anakin had no right to call her a cold-hearted woman.
I decided to let it slide as Anakin was in misery. He is saying out these things as he had lost his hand. Instead of arguing with him, I must do something to heal his wound—but I had no idea how to do that.
Lyra seemed to know her way around. Once she covered up his wound, she asked him where his detached hand was, for which Anakin just blinked.
Then after a while, he blurted out, "It is now in the stream banks of the Mageland."
"Why didn’t you take your detached hand with you before you came here? I could have fixed it with the help of my tool kit and little powers—"
Anakin sighed. "If I had stayed there to pick up my hand, then my life would have gone too. I am so fortunate to be even breathing the air right now—"
I was now intrigued by Silver Shadow as Anakin explained to us how he had chopped off his hand just with his energy. It was too hard for me not to get envious of him. How cool it would be to blast off the fire from my palms, just like him?!
Now I get why Lilin was fascinated by Silver Shadow. Even while we were together, she would constantly tell me how she had a good time with him and how he broke her heart for a blonde-haired girl.
I should somehow try to become powerful like him—only then Lilin will acknowledge me. But I have zero confidence that I can even gain the skills of a Mage warrior. Maybe I should look for another way to win Lilin back.
Lyra and I took my brother back to her cottage that was made up of mud. I can’t take him to Ash castle now; my father can’t know about this.
Leah started sobbing when she saw my brother’s condition. She sat beside him on the bed in which my brother was lying down.
Anakin wasn’t bleeding too much now. If Lyra gets his detached hand now, she can fix him up in seconds. But he is not going to get his hand back. It must be now in possession of Silver Shadow.
Leah now rested her head on my brother’s chest and listened to his heartbeat. "You might not have a hand, Anakin. But you still have a heart—so I am not planning to leave you anytime soon.
I was so much melted by her phrase. Perhaps I should not be in this room anymore. I should give this lovely couple some privacy. I was about to leave the room, but Anakin halted me.
"Aaron, you need to know something," my brother shouted out. "The Anti-Angel said something serious to me before I escaped from that place—"
I turned back to him and faced my brother. He tried to get down from the mattress with much difficulty, but he did it as Leah helped him with that.
He stood before me and said, "The Anti-Angel told me that he was going to burn down the entire Ashland—"
For a moment, my mind was blank; this couldn’t be true! If the Anti-Angel comes here to attack us, then none of them would be able to stop him. We are just creatures of lust!
"You can’t be serious!"
"Yes, I am! And please do something to save our lands from the Anti-Angel."
I was completely dazed. It is so unjust that Ashlanders are going to die because of my stupid decision.
"Nothing like that is going to happen," Lyra came to the scene and said. "No commoner in this land has to die because of that Anti-Angel—"
"And how exactly you say that you can save the land from a wrathful Anti-Angel?" I turned to my side and asked her.
"There are many ways to it, Prince! The first thing you have to do is confess everything to your father before he comes to know about this through someone else. "
"Isn’t there another way?"
"No," she replied and disheartened me.
I would rather face the Anti-Angel instead of confessing the truth to my father.
"Just do what I said," Lyra yelled out. "Once you do that, I will show you the way to obtain what you desire—"
I still wasn’t happy about confessing to my father—but I will do it for the sake of Lyra.
