Forever Destined to the Silver Shadow-Chapter 277: Brother, are you alright?!!
Edwin’s POV:
I have never been this stressed out in my whole life. It is not like I have never gone through serious challenges in my life. But this one seems dangerous as hell. He can read everything that I think in my mind!
I am not even allowed to think about Celestia anymore. I clenched my jaw when I thought about her again. I am out of the castle now, and that trickster is not around me. Still, I tried to keep my mind blank. What if he hears me out again?! I took a deep breath and tried to clear out my head.
Now the trickster had summoned the members of the court. I wonder what he is planning to do. And for heaven’s sake, he is the acting King of the Celestial Realm! He can do whatever he wants, and no one can stop him.
The worst thing is that I am not able to do anything to stop this disaster from happening. I can’t let that trickster win! I would have to do something.
Suddenly, someone hit me on my shoulder and said, "Brother, why are you standing in this hot sun instead of getting inside the castle? The court session is going to start soon—"
I turned to my side and saw the jovial guy Laris who was smiling at me. I just stood still without giving him a reply. I so wanted to tell him that Silver Shadow is the one who is going to be on the throne! But I can’t risk his life too; if he knows the truth, then he is in danger just like me.
"Brother, are you alright?" he asked me when he realized that my silence didn’t seem to end. "Or are you still having daydreams about Celestia?"
My entire body stiffened up in horror! I immediately ran away from the spot towards the direction of the castle entrance. If I stay here any longer, then he would get me killed!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The courtroom was full when I reached there. All the Fae Lords were present in the room. The only seat that was empty in the whole room was the throne of the Fae King. I stood in the corner of the stage and viewed the crowd before me. All of these people are unaware that they are going to face the trickster soon.
After a while, Laris came running to my spot and stood beside me. "Brother, what the hell happened to you?" he whispered to me.
I let out a sigh. Why does he have to stand next to me? The courtroom is vast; still, he didn’t find any other spot than this?!
"Brother," he called me again. "Tell me, why run away from me like that? Do I look like a vicious manticore to you?!"
"Shut up, Laris!" I said and looked at the entrance to see if that trickster had arrived or not. "Please don’t talk to me until the session ends—"
"But why? Are you upset that I teased you with Celestia?"
I am dead today! Silver Shadow is going to kill me, and Laris is going to be the sole reason for my death. Perhaps I should go away from him and stand somewhere else. But it was too late for me! The trickster in the disguise of the Prince entered the courtroom right when I had that thought.
The entire courtroom got up from their seats and bowed down to the fake Prince. I was disgusted to see that he had the Ivory crown over his head. It doesn’t belong to him! He doesn’t deserve this respect!
The fake Prince stared directly at me, and a smirk formed on his lips. Just with his eyes, he was telling me not to mess with him. I leaned back over the wall behind me and gritted my teeth. Keeping my mind blank is so essential for me too! The rest of the court got back to their seats only after the fake Prince sat on the golden throne. He got exactly what he wanted!
It was a real challenge for me not to think bad about the fake Prince. I reminded myself a lot of times that he could hear me. Why would Sirens have the potential to hear the thoughts of others?! This is all the creator’s fault!
"My dear subjects," he shouted at the crowd before him. "You all must be aware that our King is sick."
"The King is sick?" the Wisdom Fae Lord Ethan yelled out and got up from his seat. "We never got the information about that—"
"Well, you know the information now," the Fake Prince replied and glanced at the entire crowd. I realized that he could read all of their minds! He waited for a moment before speaking out again. It looked like he was calculating what to say next in order to turn the court to his side.
The Fake Prince then got up from his throne and moved to the edge of the stage. "I am saddened to say that the Fae King has constantly been sick lately. Lord Aeson is trying his best to heal the King; still, the King isn’t completely cured."
Everyone’s face darkened at the revelation made by the Fake Prince. Some of them were even discussing among themselves about their beloved King.
"Silence," the Fake Prince raised his hand. "No one has to panic! I am the son of King Oberon, and I am the rightful heir to this throne. Until my father gets cured, I will be your King. You all can rely on me for fair justice! I will do my best to establish a secular in the Celestial Realm—"
Then I understood the actual reason why he gathered the court. This is like his coronation! He had assigned himself as the King of this realm! I wondered what he was going to do next.
"You are going to establish a secular rule?" the Wisdom Fae Lord Ethan raised a question. "But King Oberon was already doing that—"
"No, he didn’t," the trickster crossed him. "My father was partial to everyone—"
The entire court got frozen! I secretly hoped that someone would find out his real identity, at least now. He has openly said that Oberon is partial. Prince Darius would never say such things about his father! Come on, people! Wake up and see who he really is!
But the people were too blind to see through the enchantment. Some of them seemed to be even convinced that Oberon was partial to them. Oh no! Now, this trickster is trying to turn everyone against the Fae King!
"My father created five houses and separated all of you! This was really unnecessary! You all are fighting among yourselves because of the barriers that my father had set for you. So I have decided to break the barriers first—"
At least now try to see who he is, people! Will Prince Darius ever go against his father’s orders? I eagerly waited for someone to comfort the Fake Prince, but no one seemed to have an idea about it. Why are these court members dumb? Except for the Spirit Fae Lord, everyone seemed to be agreeing with the trickster.
"I think that the Prince has a point," the Perpacious Fae Lord Samuel said. "Since we are divided into five houses, we are fighting among ourselves instead of bringing our enemies down. We are losing ourselves because of these barriers. I vote positive for the act of bringing down the barriers—"
The Fae Prince and Lord Samuel smiled at each other. So Celestia was right about them. Samuel and Silver Shadow are allies! Yet, he acted innocent before us—and he got his name cleared.
Suddenly, the expression of the Fake Prince got darkened. He then stared at the crowd and said, "The Fae Lords alone don’t get to vote anymore! Each and every one of my court members have to vote—"
My head started to spin after that. Is he actually saying that every one of them should vote?! He is changing the entire law of the court that Oberon had dearly built and maintained for these many years.
"Members of the court! Now tell me how many of you insist that the barriers among the Faes must be broken?"
I was surprised to see a majority of them raise their hands. So there are going to be no more Fae houses?
The Fake Prince was so happy with the results. He beamed at the court and said, "Since the majority of you want to break the barriers, there won’t be any Fae houses from now on—"
This is going to be a disaster! The Fae houses were created by King Oberon for a reason. He had envisioned that if the people of the same capabilities are given a separate identity, then there won’t be internal conflicts in the Kingdom.
There were disputes between the houses in the past few years; still, the situation could have been worse if there were no houses at all! That is what the Fae King had told us.
This trickster is going to wreck this whole realm soon!
