Fortunate to Have You This Lifetime-Chapter 858 - : Spring Triangle_1
Chapter 858: Chapter 858: Spring Triangle_1
“What happened after that…” Purple Summers asked curiously, “Why did you break up?”
“On the way to Snow Mountain, my dad and uncle caught us with some men they brought along.”
Christopher Simonson reflected on the past with none of the passion of his youth, realizing that back then he indeed wasn’t mature enough. He thought he could soar freely in the vast outside world, yet he overlooked how frail his own wings still were.
“By that time, I was already with Meredith Richards. Although my dad was angry, he couldn’t do anything about it. He took both of us to Kingsley to prepare for the wedding.”
If things had really gone that smoothly, Meredith Richards wouldn’t have left in a huff.
Purple Summers asked, “The old lady didn’t like her, so she made things difficult for her?”
Christopher Simonson laughed wryly. It seemed that the old lady’s bad temper had left a deep impression on Purple Summers, leading her to assume that it was the old lady who had driven Meredith Richards away.
“The old lady thought that a woman who would elope with a man must have questionable character. Moreover, Meredith Richards was four years older than me. The old lady believed I shouldn’t marry a woman older than myself; she indeed didn’t like Meredith Richards. As for making things difficult…” Christopher Simonson chuckled and said, “You’re underestimating your mother. Meredith Richards brushed off the old lady’s difficulties with ease while remaining unscathed herself, leaving the old lady fuming instead.”
Purple Summers also smiled. The old lady did have a sharp tongue, but when it came to smartly making life difficult for someone, she probably couldn’t manage it.
Christopher Simonson gazed at the distant scenery, sighing softly with a look of fond recollection.
“Meredith Richards left on her own,” Christopher Simonson said. “She said she decided to burn her bridges and leave with me because she believed I could give her a different life. But she realized she was wrong, that the life she now had wasn’t what she wanted. To have the woman he loves belittle herself to nothing, I was deeply hurt and angry at the time…”
Christopher Simonson lowered his head to look at Purple Summers and said in a deep voice, “But I really didn’t know she was pregnant with you. If I had known… I would never have let things turn out the way they have today.”
Purple Summers didn’t make a sound, her eyes gazing at the stars filling the sky.
Perhaps Meredith Richards didn’t know either… realizing she was pregnant on the way back, and with her prideful nature, she refused to go back. In the end, she fell into a depression from which she couldn’t escape.
It could only be said that fate plays tricks on people.
The father and daughter quietly leaned against the balcony, not speaking, the surrounding air tranquil and slightly cool.
Perhaps to break the silence, Christopher Simonson pointed at the starry sky and asked in a light tone, “Do you know what star that is?”
“The Big Dipper,” Purple Summers smiled and said, “That’s the only one I recognize.”
“In the spring night sky, the most prominent and visible is the Big Dipper,” Christopher Simonson said. “To find other stars isn’t hard; extend the line linking the two stars at the end of the Dipper’s bowl five times further, and you’ll find the fairly bright Polaris; trace the line from the other two stars of the Dipper’s bowl southwestward, and you’ll find the bright Regulus. Following the curve of the Dipper’s handle extended, you can draw a large arc, and along this arc, you can find the bright orange star Arcturus…”
Christopher Simonson’s hand moved slowly following his explanation, pointing towards the starry sky: “Keep going south, and you’ll find another bright star, Spica, and continue southwest, and you’ll come to a quadrangle formed by four small stars – that’s Corvus.”
…Corvus?

Purple Summers froze, murmuring after a while, “So there really is a Corvus constellation…”
“Yes,” Christopher Simonson said, gazing at the starry sky, “this great arc that begins at the handle of the Big Dipper and ends at Corvus, that’s what’s known as the ‘Spring Triangle’.”
The Spring Triangle encompasses the brightest and most beautiful stars of spring. Purple Summers remembered last spring, when she and Alexander Summers were celebrating her birthday at the mountain villa, and he pointed to the dazzling stars above, whispering endearing words in her ear: That’s the Purple Summers constellation.
Tears suddenly fell, and Purple Summers immediately lowered her head, saying bluntly, “I’m going to the restroom.”
