Chapter 69: 69:New Guest

Shouts rose from the front courtyard, followed by a strange vibration in the air as if a wave of pressure had passed over the estate.

Janet’s heart skipped a beat. "What now?"

Erina stood up immediately, her eyes narrowing. "That wasn’t normal."

A maid rushed in, panting. "Madam! Something is... something is happening in the training hall! The guards outside felt a wave of energy, like a storm erupted inside!"

Janet’s eyes widened and she muttered in shock"He’s breaking through..."

Erina arched an eyebrow. "He?"

"Roland," Janet froze.. "He’s.."

"This isn’t an ordinary breakthrough?"Erina spoke, shooting herself from the seat.

......

Outside, the guards were already forming a perimeter, unsure whether the explosive aura from the training chamber was a threat or miracle. Animals all across the village paused. Even the wind held its breath.

And at the heart of it, surrounded by protective formation circles and walls soaked in layered runes, Roland sat cross-legged, his body shimmering with energy. His clothes rippled as the surrounding Qi liquefied and rushed into his core.

It was no longer a gentle cultivation session. It was a transcendence as he carried over the break through not knowing about the guest.

Erina stepped out slowly, her gaze drawn toward the east wing like iron to a magnet.

"What rank...?" she muttered, feeling the residual aura leak through.

Janet knew she can’t hide anymore. Also she was quite afarid.Rumour say that this woman was unruly. What if she went crazy.

Fortunately she had already hidden others.

Janet took a deep breath, calming herself before she whispered softly, "He’s... reaching the threshold of Master Knight—Tenth Rank. Perhaps more."

Erina’s lips parted slightly, heart skipping a beat. He’s younger than me... and this strong?

Her fingers tightened into fists as a flutter of excitement passed through her.

"Oh Goddess," she muttered. "Maybe father was right... Maybe Roland Weiss is a hidden dragon after all."

And as the sky pulsed once more above the estate, everyone in Apus knew things were about to change.

....

Inside the secluded training chamber, a sudden flash of light erupted.

A golden aura barrier burst outward, wrapping Roland in a shimmering cocoon. His body radiated like a star, encased in swirling Qi that churned restlessly around him. The air grew dense, the ground trembled, and then—

BOOM!

A deafening explosion rang out, not of destruction, but of release.

In the next instant, a massive vortex formed above the chamber, pulling the surrounding Qi from every direction toward Roland like a raging typhoon. It was a rare phenomenon, a sight few ever witnessed in their lifetime. The wind howled. Dust and leaves scattered. The sky above the estate shimmered as if responding to a divine signal.

In Apus Village, everyone froze.

Farmers dropped their tools. Mothers clutched their children. Even the guards stiffened with awe and fear. Animals wailed. Chickens scattered. Horses neighed and pulled at their reins. Every living being felt the pull of something powerful and new being born.

Within the training hall, Roland sat at the eye of the storm, his body absorbing the swirling force. His mastery over Gale Sword Techniques turned the turbulent wind into ordered channels, drawing all Qi into his being with perfect efficiency.

Then, all at once, the cocoon cracked.

With a deep shudder, it shattered, sending one final wave of pressure outward. Every ounce of Qi rushed into Roland’s body like floodgates opening into a deep sea.

He opened his eyes slowly.

An invisible pressure radiated from him. His long white hair floated in the air, blown gently by the currents of his own power. He raised a hand and closed it into a slow fist.

Even that simple act sent out a faint shockwave that trembled the space around him.

"So this is it," he muttered under his breath, staring at his hands with disbelief and quiet reverence. "I didn’t expect the difference to be so... massive."

He took a moment, breathing slowly. The air seemed fresher. His senses had sharpened. He could feel the minute twitch of insects crawling on walls meters away. He could hear the guards’ confused murmurs at the gates.

Everything had changed.

"Now I understand why so few reach the tenth rank in Kingdom Jin..." Roland whispered. "The barrier is just too high."

He frowned slightly. "One minor internal flaw, one sliver of restlessness in the soul, and it all collapses. And then there’s the Qi... this land is too poor. Without the system rewards, I never could’ve gathered this much energy here."

He laughed quietly, but the sound carried an edge of bitterness.

"The Kingdom can’t even compare to a border Barony of the Empire. What a joke."

But he shook off the thought. Now wasn’t the time for frustration.

He had broken through. After years of waiting, fighting, and staying low key, he had stepped over a major threshold. He wasn’t just a mortal anymore. His body, his soul and everything had evolved.

Yet he knew better than to be arrogant.

"Compared to the Empire," Roland mused, eyes narrowing, "a tenth ranker is nothing. In their armies, even a sixth rank foot soldier is common. Still, in Kingdom Jin... I should be unrivaled. Even facing an eleventh or twelfth rank, I can escape alive. That’s enough for now."

He stood and stretched. His body felt light, flexible, and brimming with strength. He glanced down at himself, patting his chest and abs.

"No changes in height, huh?" he muttered, relieved. "Thank the gods. If I got any taller down there or up here, my wives might start thinking I’m a monster."

At 207 cm, Roland already towered over most people. Another growth spurt might’ve tipped the balance from handsome to terrifying.

Still grinning, he turned toward the sealed exit.

But suddenly, his senses flared.

His newly enhanced perception pulsed like a radar sweeping the surroundings. Within moments, he felt it—an unfamiliar presence. Not just strong... but very strong.

"Who’s this?"

His expression hardened. He could feel the red-haired woman stationed just outside the estate. She wasn’t alone—an entire unit of well-trained troops waited nearby. They weren’t attacking, but they weren’t idle either.

"Tch... Did someone notice the breakthrough? Or is this something worse?"

His mind raced.

"No... don’t panic yet. Assess the situation. We will consolidate the power later."

Drawing in a slow breath, Roland gathered his robe, his aura still fluctuating slightly as it settled. His eyes gleamed, sharp and watchful.

"Let’s go meet our guest."

......

Apus Village Weiss Estate Grounds

The sky was still rumbling when Erina Wellington walked out into the open, her boots crushing the scattered leaves blown by the sudden storm of Qi that had engulfed the area just moments ago. The swirling energy had calmed, but its lingering pressure still hung in the air like a memory refusing to fade.
