From Ignored to Adored: The Heiress Melts the Self-Restrained Boss-Chapter 170: Hurry Up and Get Married
Rosalyn Quinn’s words made the Sutton Family parents feel even more heartache for her, and even more dissatisfaction with Zachary Sutton.
Mrs. Sutton glared at Zachary Sutton and said, "Look at Rosalyn, how considerate she is. And then look at yourself, no sense of responsibility at all. Today, you must give Rosalyn an explanation, or we will not recognize you as our son."
Zachary Sutton felt helpless, knowing that no matter how he explained now, his parents wouldn’t listen. He glanced at Rosalyn Quinn, feeling even more suspicious of her motives. But in this situation, he couldn’t expose her directly and could only stabilize the situation first.
"Mom, don’t be angry. I will take responsibility for Rosalyn Quinn, but I need time," Zachary Sutton said.
Rosalyn Quinn was delighted to hear Zachary Sutton’s words. She knew that her plan had taken another successful step; as long as Zachary was willing to take responsibility, she had a chance to be with him.
"Zachary, I know you’re not sure about my feelings for you now, but I believe you will slowly accept me," Rosalyn said softly.
Zachary Sutton didn’t respond to her and just stood there silently.
Mr. Sutton said with displeasure, "What are you still considering? Things have already happened, and you’ve done what you shouldn’t have done. I think you should just marry Rosalyn as soon as possible!"
Zachary Sutton was surprised; now his parents weren’t just forcing him to get engaged but to marry Rosalyn Quinn directly?
Rosalyn Quinn’s eyes flashed with joy; as long as she married Zachary Sutton, she would become Mrs. Sutton and enjoy endless wealth in the future.
Mrs. Sutton chimed in, "I think your dad is right. Just marry Rosalyn. I think she is quite nice, gentle, understanding, and well-mannered. I’ll invite her parents over tomorrow to discuss your wedding."
At these words, Zachary Sutton frowned with dissatisfaction, "Dad, isn’t this too fast? Don’t you want to ask my opinion?"
Mr. Sutton’s face darkened, "Your opinion? What opinion do you have? After doing such a thing, you should take full responsibility. Now is not the time for you to be picky; get the wedding done quickly and put our minds at ease."
Zachary Sutton felt annoyed. He didn’t want to rush into marriage, especially with someone like Rosalyn Quinn. He tried to argue further, "Dad, Mom, marriage is a lifelong matter and shouldn’t be decided so hastily. Rosalyn and I need time to understand each other."
Mrs. Sutton didn’t agree, "Understand what? It’s already like this; hurry up and get married. Do you want to let Rosalyn be wronged? Besides, both our families are happy with this match, so stop making excuses."
Rosalyn Quinn spoke at the right moment, "Zachary, I know you might feel it’s too fast, but I really like you. I’m willing to face the future with you. We can slowly get to know each other, and I believe we will be happy."
Zachary Sutton looked at Rosalyn Quinn, filled with resistance in his heart.
"Dad, Mom, marriage isn’t a trivial matter, and I hope you’ll consider my position."
"We are considering your position. If you’re this irresponsible and unwilling to marry Rosalyn, then I won’t recognize you as my son," Mr. Sutton threatened harshly.
"Dad..." Zachary Sutton furrowed his brow tightly, wanting to say more, but Mr. Sutton interrupted him, "Alright, this is settled."
Zachary Sutton felt helpless, knowing that further protests wouldn’t help. He glanced at Rosalyn Quinn, who had a look of pride and expectation on her face.
Zachary Sutton secretly resolved to find out the truth quickly and not stumble into marriage blindly. He couldn’t let someone else dictate his life, especially someone he didn’t like.
After a moment of silence, he said, "Alright, since you’ve all decided, I have nothing more to say. But I hope we can have more time to understand each other before getting married."
Seeing Zachary Sutton relent, Mrs. Sutton’s expression softened a little. "Fine, we’ll give you some time to get to know each other. But don’t delay any longer; settle the marriage soon."
Rosalyn Quinn was secretly pleased, knowing she was a step closer to becoming Mrs. Sutton. She looked softly at Zachary Sutton and said, "Zachary, I will try hard to show you my sincerity."
Zachary Sutton didn’t respond to her and just turned to leave the living room.
He needed some quiet time to think about what to do next.
In a high-end cafe.
"Riley, you’re here!" Lucy Ford saw Riley Hawthorne and quickly waved at her.
Riley Hawthorne walked over and sat across from her.
"Lucy, why did you ask me out? Is there something?"
Lucy propped her chin with one hand and said, "Nothing important, just heard you were sick the past couple of days. Are you feeling better?"
"Much better; otherwise, I wouldn’t have come out," Riley Hawthorne smiled.
"By the way, after you dropped Zachary Sutton off that night, your brother called me to ask where you were."
At this, Lucy’s face turned curious, "What exactly happened between you and Zachary Sutton that night? It was so late, and you didn’t go home."
Riley Hawthorne’s face slightly changed, and a hint of panic crossed her eyes. She didn’t want Lucy to know what happened between her and Zachary Sutton, especially the awkward and painful experiences.
"Nothing, nothing happened. I just sent him home and left," Riley Hawthorne said, pretending to be relaxed.
Lucy clearly didn’t believe her words, frowning and looking at Riley Hawthorne in confusion. "Riley, are you hiding something from me? We are best friends; you can tell me anything."
Riley Hawthorne bit her lip, not knowing how to answer. She knew Lucy meant well, but she really didn’t want to bring up those things again, fearing she would fall into pain once more.
"Lucy, really nothing. Don’t overthink it," Riley squeezed out a smile.
Lucy looked at Riley, more convinced she was hiding something.
But she didn’t want to push Riley; she knew Riley would tell her if she wanted to.
"Alright then, if you don’t want to say, I won’t force you. But if you have something on your mind, do tell me. I’ll always support you," Lucy said gently.
Riley Hawthorne felt warmth in her heart and looked at Lucy gratefully. "Lucy, thank you. It’s great to have you as a friend."
Lucy smiled and then changed the subject, "By the way, Riley, do you have any good travel recommendations? I’m thinking of relaxing somewhere."
Riley thought for a moment and said, "I think Seryn is nice. The scenery is beautiful, with lots of fun places. You could visit Vorian, Lyra, Eridan, and other areas."
Lucy’s eyes lit up, "Sounds great; I’ll think about it."
They chatted about other topics, and the atmosphere gradually lightened. Riley also temporarily forgot her troubles, enjoying her time with a friend.
