From Imp to Demon God: Conquering the Demon World With a Succubus-Chapter 39: Noctyriss City
The Commander said, "He’s a duke of Crimson Contracts. He belonged to the Vampire race, and thus, made the whole city emphasizing blood contracts, binding, and fate enforcement. The city here is very strict. Even when the Royal Academy, especially some students, are an exception to his city ordinance, once they are involved in something that is outside in the Royal Academy, they are still bound to the blood contracts."
Myles asked, "Even if they are demon nobles?"
"Even if they are demon nobles. They can’t do anything anyway. As a Demon Lord, his innate demonic art, Crimson Oath, makes it difficult to fight against it, not even the other Demon Lords."
Myles was intrigued. "How?"
The Commander was silent for a while and replied, "The Crimson Oath innate demonic art is able to bind bloodline loyalty and noble legitimacy to a demon noble. Once they commit something that questions their bloodline loyalty directly to the Demon King, the Crimson Oath will instantly take effect and their noble legitimacy can be revoked. At that point, even if they are the kids of the Demon Lord, since it already involves the law of the Demon King that is enacted by the Lord of Contracts, the conclusion is already inevitable.
That’s why most of the Demon Lords are distant and very strict to their kids. That also explained why the Lady of Chains and Whisphered Vows didn’t prefer the Mistress to come here."
The Commander paused for a while, smiled, and said, "However, the Mistress is already mature. That’s why I think she will perform well in the Royal Academy."
He turned towards Myles and said, "That’s why don’t disappoint her. Make her proud."
Myles was speechless. He was deeply intrigued by the innate demonic art of the Demon Lord and wanted to focus on such a topic and yet the Commander was instantly distracted.
He was about to continue the topic when they were already getting closer to the gate and the Blood Knights, guarding the gate, was in clear view.
He mumbled. "Blood Knights?"
The Commander nodded. "Although Vampires focus on contracts, they also have an affinity with the Law of Blood. And thus, they prefer Blood Knights as their knights."
"I see."
The Blood Knights glanced at the royal carriage and paved the way for them, by saluting on the sides.
The royal carriage halted inside the gate for a while as the Blood Knight, currently taking the management of the city gates in the west, greeted the Commander.
"Commander of the Blood Knights. We are pleased to meet you."
The Commander nodded. "Likewise. I also wish to meet your Commander, but I assume he’s busy?"
"He is, indeed. Preparing for the Royal Academy enrollment. He also had not gotten a rest since a week ago, after the sixth year batch graduated."
"I see. I’ll meet him next time, then. Can someone guide us to the Guardian of Scarlet Bond’s private quarters? She’s inside the royal carriage."
The Blood Knight was surprised. As the manager of the west gate, he was aware of the updates from the Royal Academy.
The Guardian of Scarlet Bond replaced her mother as an instructor of the Bloodline Mastery Studies in the Royal Academy.
Hence, he was also aware of her private quarters.
The Blood Knight contemplated for a while and glanced at his subordinate.
He said, "Brother, you are temporarily instructed to manage my current position. I’ll be back after guiding our guest. Don’t disappoint me."
The Blood Knight was taken aback, nodded, and walked towards him.
The Blood Knight near the Commander glanced at the latter and said, "Is there still space there?"
"Certainly," said the Commander. He glanced at Myles and said, "Ride the horse. Don’t tell me you don’t know how."
Myles was speechless. Thankfully, he learned how to ride a horse once.
Without hesitation, he jumped at the horse back in front of him and grabbed the reins.
The Blood Knight stared at Myles in wonder, as he instantly thought he might be the knight of the noble student attending the Royal Academy.
He was familiar with the Commander of the Blood Knights in the Succubus race, under the Lady of Chains and Whisphered Vows.
Since there was a blood knight beside the Commander, the Mistress of the Velmoryss City was obviously inside the royal carriage, as well.
Without hesitation, the Commander swung the reign and the horses moved forward, in accordance with the direction the Blood Knight gave.
...
Myles admired the view of Noctyriss City. He would have to spend his next six years here.
He swept his gaze and scrutinized the elegant, gothic architecture with a cold, aristocratic feel.
He was still getting used to his new environment.
He glanced at a far distance, as it caught his attention.
It was a black obsidian spire reflecting the eternal twilight, blood red skies. For some reason, Myles saw the image of the Eiffel tower in the black obsidian spire.
The Blood Knight behind him said, "That’s Grace’s spire. He resided there."
Myles thought. I thought it’s a library of the Royal Academy. Well, that’s kind of different from the story of the vampires I heard from the earth. They usually reside in a castle, not a spire.
Myles then glanced at the northwest direction and finally saw the Royal Academy, the heart of the Noctyrris city, towering all over the districts.
Despite being able to scrutinize it with a clear view, Myles felt the Royal Academy was shrouded in mystery.
As he continued to admire the structures of the city, as well as encountering different demon races with various appearances, ranging from repulsive to he barely calls a proper face, they eventually arrived in the residential area, where instructors had their private quarters outside the Royal Academy.
Myles learned that the students had dormitories inside the Royal Academy and it was where they stayed, while instructors had an office inside the Royal Academy and a private quarters for them outside.
The royal carriage halted in front of the gate of a black obsidian villa with crimson headlights, draped in flowing scarlet banners.
Myles glanced at what seemed to be floating runes orbiting above the roof, glowing slightly.
He mumbled, "Those runes.. .seemed to be alive."
"Those are not runes," said the Commander, as they jumped out of the box seat, followed by Myles who landed beside him.
Myles asked, "What do you mean?"
"They are sigils."
