Chapter 48: She Needs to Rest

Yu Xi asked Jian Yiling, “Do you know how to use those two books you’re holding?”

Jian Yiling’s appearance made Yu Xi quite worried.

He was worried that she would carry the books in her hand to argue with He Yan. With He Yan’s shrewdness, there was no way for Jian Yiling to nail He Yan’s crime just with these two books.

If Jian Yiling were to do this, it might cause her even more trouble.

“I know how to.”

Jian Yiling’s tone was calm and confident.

However, her appearance still gave off a soft and cute impression.

Yu Xi still felt that she was unreliable in these aspects. “Why don’t you keep these two books with me? If you need them, come back and see me.”

“There is no need.” Jian Yiling replied. She refused his suggestion without hesitation.

“Then... Then be careful.” Yu Xi warned. He was incredibly worried that Jian Yiling would do something silly and end up being the one who got into trouble.

Zhai Yunsheng glanced at Jian Yiling before saying, “Do you want Yu Xi to find a room for you to rest in?” 𝒇𝔯e𝚎𝘄𝑒𝑏𝙣𝑜𝚟𝗲𝑙.c𝘰𝚖

Once again, Jian Yiling looked at him with a puzzled expression.

“What’s wrong? Do you want to join the fun at the party instead?”

“I don’t want to.”

Zhai Yunsheng’s tone wasn’t gentle. However, he was quite patient. “Then go and rest. Your eyes are bloodshot. Do you really think that you’re a rabbit?”

Only rabbit eyes were red. f𝘳𝚎𝐞we𝐛𝑛𝐨𝘃e𝘭.co𝘮

Zhai Yunsheng was the second person besides Grandma Jian who had noticed that she was lacking sleep.

“Bloodshot eyes? Is that so?” Yu Xi moved forward to take a look at her eyes.

Yu Xi had brought Jian Yiling from the Jian Residence to the Yu Residence. Along the way, he hadn’t noticed that Jian Yiling’s eyes were red.

When Yu Xi inched forwards, Jian Yiling backed off instinctively.

Jian Yiling felt uncomfortable when anyone got too close to her.

And thus, Yu Xi didn’t have a chance to look at her eyes before Zhai Yunsheng pulled him back.

“Why aren’t you arranging for a room yet?” Zhai Yunsheng asked. He narrowed his eyes and his expression became displeased.

“I’ll go ask the housekeeper.” Yu Xi replied hastily. Immediately after, Yu Xi called for the housekeeper and asked him to take Jian Yiling to rest in a guest room.

Yu Xi stayed behind and sat down beside Zhai Yunsheng. Out of curiosity, he asked:

“Master Sheng, I’m quite puzzled. Why are you helping the little girl so much? You even cared about whether or not she was tired.”

“She looks like a pet I raised.”

Master Sheng had a pet?

Yu Xi took a while time to recollect his memories before asking, “You mean that white rabbit?”

Yiling indeed looked like a little rabbit. Her face was small and her hair was silky like rabbit fur. It made people want to pat her on the head.

Yu Xi had seen the rabbit that Master Sheng had raised. However, he distinctly remembered that Master Sheng didn’t care much for the rabbit.

It wasn’t just that he didn’t care. It was that...

Yu Xi suddenly remembered, “Wait, Master Sheng. Why do I remember that you fed sweet potato leaves to the rabbit? The rabbit was incredibly strong and sturdy. And in the end, didn’t you eat him?!”

Jian Yujie had rushed to get to the Old Jian Residence early.

After the car stopped, Jian Yujie immediately began to move his belongings out of the car.

When Grandma Jian came out of the house, she saw Jian Yujie carrying numerous bags.

“Yujie, did your mother say that you could live here for a long time?”

Grandma Jian didn’t think that He Yan would allow for such a thing to happen.

Although He Yan hoped that Jian Yujie would be adored by the elders of the family, she wouldn’t let Jian Yujie be brought up by them.

She knew that once she let Jian Yujie live there, she could no longer stop him from becoming a magician.
