Chapter 715: Caught by the Parents After Beating Their Son

Micah brushed both of his hands over the front of his shirt and down the sides of his pants as he stepped away from the hallway. The motion was unnecessary. There was no dust, no wrinkles, yet he still did it, as if smoothing invisible creases could erase the evidence of what had just happened.

A moment ago he had been kicking the shit out of Leo. Well... that might be a slightly dramatic description. But berating him relentlessly? Yes. Absolutely.

Micah cleared his throat and walked toward the living room, trying to look calm and composed, as though he had merely taken a short walk down the hall instead of disciplining someone else’s son like an angry older brother.

The moment he stepped into the living room, every sound seemed to vanish. Then every head turned toward him. Micah froze for half a second. The sensation was like déjà vu; twenty minutes ago he had stood here under the same gazes.

A room full of people, all staring at him at once with complicated expressions that he couldn’t immediately decipher. Some looked shocked. Some looked thoughtful. Some looked... impressed?

Micah blinked. Only then did the horrifying realisation slowly sink into his mind. They probably heard everything.

Leo’s room wasn’t that far away from the living room, and his voice certainly hadn’t been quiet. The sounds of Leo stumbling backward, Micah’s irritated scolding, and perhaps even the occasional thud of a kick had likely echoed more than he realised.

A slow wave of heat crept up the back of his neck. Then the heat spread to his ears. Micah felt his face warming as he understood that he had been caught completely red-handed by Leo’s entire family.

Wonderful. Just wonderful.

Still, stopping now would only make things worse. Micah forced himself to keep walking. But the confident stride he had when leaving the hallway was gone. His steps were suddenly stiff and awkward, his shoulders a little too straight, like someone trying too hard to appear dignified while walking across a stage.

Leo’s parents were staring at him in particular. Their expressions were... odd. Neither angry, nor offended. If anything, they looked thoughtful. Even respectful. Micah felt even more uncomfortable.

The McKay couple exchanged a brief glance with each other. Their three sons had always been exceptionally good-looking boys. That blessing, unfortunately, came with a long list of problems. Wherever the brothers went, people flocked to them. Admirers, sycophants, social climbers, people who wanted to be friends with them, impress them, or gain something from them.

No one ever told them no. No one scolded them. No one dared to set them straight. Especially Leo.

As the youngest son, Leo had grown up surrounded by indulgence. His parents loved him, his brothers tolerated him, and outsiders treated him like some kind of precious treasure.

The result? Leo had become spoiled. Not malicious, perhaps, but stubborn, proud, and completely unwilling to listen when he was wrong. Nothing could get through that thick skull of his.

At least... that had been the case until today. Because now, standing in the hallway behind Micah, Leo was silent.

He had finally stepped out of his room willingly and stood there with his head lowered, watching Micah’s back quietly.

The McKay couple noticed this immediately. They had never seen Leo look like that before. Perhaps... Perhaps their parenting methods needed some adjustment.

Meanwhile, Luca had quietly moved two steps away from Micah. Then another step. Just in case. His eyes were filled with deep suspicion, as if he were worried Micah might suddenly turn around and kick him too.

Micah pretended not to notice.

Across the room, Seth stood beside William with his arms loosely crossed. The corners of Seth’s mouth were lifted slightly, clearly amused by the entire situation.

Then his gaze shifted. He noticed Leo standing in the hallway. "Finally," Seth said, pushing himself away from the wall. He walked toward Leo and casually draped an arm over his younger brother’s shoulder. "Finally! You’re out."

Micah heard Seth’s voice and instinctively glanced back. Leo stood there looking... pitiful.

His head was lowered, his shoulders slumped slightly, and his expression was strangely subdued, almost like a scolded puppy that had just been wronged.

For a brief moment, Leo’s eyes lifted and met Micah’s. There was something complicated in them. But Micah didn’t look long enough to figure out what it was.

Because honestly? He felt zero sympathy right now. If Leo wanted pity, he should have behaved better in those countless timelines or at least have apologised to Darcy earlier.

Micah’s only goal at this point was simple. Escape. Get out. Leave this awkward place before the embarrassment killed him.

And as if the universe decided to reward his silent prayer, His phone rang. The sound was so sudden in the quiet living room that everyone instinctively glanced toward him again.

Micah had never been happier to hear a ringtone in his life. He pulled out his phone almost immediately and answered it. "Hello?"

"I’m right in front of their porch," Clyde’s calm voice came through the speaker.

Micah nearly sighed in relief. Perfect timing. "Good! I’ll be out in seconds," Micah replied quickly.

He hung up and looked up at the McKay family with a polite smile. "Well... I should get going."

He gave a small nod toward them in farewell and began moving toward the door.

"Wait!" Leo’s father suddenly spoke up.

Micah paused.

"Stay a little longer," the man continued, stepping forward. "Why are you leaving so soon?"

Leo’s mother also hurried forward, looking slightly flustered. "Yes, you’re leaving already? We didn’t even properly thank you yet. I was just thinking of asking what food you like so I could cook something for you." Her tone was sincere.

Micah blinked, slightly surprised. "Oh... that’s very kind of you," he said politely. "Unfortunately," he continued apologetically, "I already have somewhere else to be. I’m afraid that won’t be possible today." He offered them an apologetic smile. "But thank you for the offer."

Before anyone could argue further, Micah made a quick beeline for the door. He walked briskly across the porch and down the path. The cool air outside immediately felt refreshing.

And then he saw it. Clyde’s car. It was impossible to miss.

Even among luxury vehicles, Clyde’s car stood out like something from a showroom display. The sleek design, the polished finish, the unmistakable aura of exclusivity, it practically screamed limited edition.

Micah spotted Clyde just as the man stepped out of the driver’s side. Clyde walked around the front of the car with unhurried steps and stopped beside the passenger door. Then he opened it. For Micah.

Micah couldn’t help smiling.

Meanwhile, behind him, the McKay family had followed him out onto the porch. They were clearly still trying to convince him to stay. But the moment they saw Clyde standing there...

Their words died instantly. The man’s presence was... overwhelming. They didn’t recognise him, but it was immediately obvious that he wasn’t some ordinary person. Everything about him radiated quiet authority. His suit was perfectly tailored. His posture was straight and confident. Even the way he stood beside the car made it seem less like a vehicle and more like something belonging to him by right. He looked like someone from a powerful, wealthy family. Someone important.

And then there was the way his expression changed when Micah approached. The sternness softened. His gaze warmed.

Clyde even extended his hand slightly, clearly intending to help Micah into the car, as though Micah were someone delicate who needed careful handling. The contrast was obvious. Whoever this man was... He clearly adored Micah.

And Micah, for his part, responded with an easy, warm smile.

Clyde gave the McKay family a polite nod of acknowledgment before stepping back into the driver’s seat. Moments later, the car engine hummed softly. Then the vehicle pulled away from the house and disappeared down the road.

For several seconds, the McKay family simply stood there watching.

Finally, Luca let out a long, exaggerated sigh. "Huh..." He wiped imaginary sweat from his forehead. "Thank God he’s gone," Luca groaned dramatically. "I was so scared!"

David McKay immediately shot him a sharp glare. "Talk properly!" he scolded. "He has helped your brother several times!"

Luca looked unconvinced. "Yeah, but he also likes to get physical," Luca muttered. "The beating from last time still hurts whenever I see him."

"That’s probably because you deserved it," Seth said lazily.

Luca turned to him with an offended expression. "Lucky you! Why does he always treat you politely?" Luca complained. "But every time he sees Leo and me, he beats the hell out of us!"

Seth shrugged. "Maybe you should reflect on your life choices."

Luca huffed.

Before their argument could continue, Leo’s mother clapped her hands lightly.

"Alright, alright. The show is over," she said with a tired smile. "Everyone go back inside." She began ushering the family toward the house.

One by one, they followed. The last person still standing on the porch was Leo. He hadn’t said a single word the entire time. His gaze remained fixed on the road where Clyde’s car had disappeared. His expression was dark and distant.

Seth noticed. He paused beside his younger brother and gently patted his shoulder.

"Move on," Seth said quietly. "It’s not the end of the world."

Leo didn’t respond immediately.

"You’ll meet someone who likes you too," Seth added.

Leo let out a short, humourless scoff. Someone who liked him? He knew that wasn’t true. Because lately... He couldn’t even look at himself in the mirror anymore.

Still, Leo simply nodded. "Yeah," he murmured.

Seth studied him for a moment, worry flickering briefly in his eyes. But in the end, he said nothing more. He turned and walked back into the house.
