Future Beast World: Becoming A Pampered Beauty-Chapter 228 - 172: Do You Want a Child?
Sang Luo’s expression darkened. Her biggest worry was Little Qi. Demon Beasts were violent and temperamental; how could she possibly feel at ease leaving her child with Caesar?!
"No! I have to go back and bring Little Qi here," she declared. "If he’s really fallen and become a Demon Beast, I absolutely cannot leave my child with him! What if he goes berserk again and hurts Little Qi?!"
"With your current strength, you can’t just snatch the child from the Southern Beast Emperor. You’ll only infuriate him more, and he’ll hunt you down relentlessly."
Fei Yuan grabbed Sang Luo’s hand, his disapproval evident. "Even a vicious tiger won’t eat its own cub. He may be ruthless to you, but he values his offspring immensely. He probably won’t hurt him. The real danger is that if the young snake stays with him, over time he could be inadvertently tainted by Demonic Qi. His personality would subtly change, becoming cold and violent, and he’d be assimilated into a Demon Beast... If that day truly comes, you and your son will find yourselves on opposite sides."
"I will bring my child here and raise him myself," Sang Luo said, her heart burning with fury. "As for him, I’ll just pretend I never met him! We’ll go our separate ways and never see each other again!"
"Little Luoruo, calm down." Fei Yuan took out a scroll. "I have some good news. I’ve successfully restored the Elixir Recipe for the Reincarnation Pill. We just need a few more rare Spiritual Materials, and we’ll be all set. I won’t keep you waiting for too long."
Sang Luo glanced at the Elixir Recipe. "...Haven’t you always wanted a child? When we get back, I’ll bear you a child. What do you say?"
’I need to break through to the Emperor Rank as soon as possible.’
Fei Yuan gazed at her, his Adam’s apple bobbing. "Have you thought this through? Are you truly willing?"
Sang Luo stepped forward and hugged Fei Yuan, wrapping her arms tightly around his waist and resting her head against his chest.
Fei Yuan felt a dampness spreading across his chest, and a tremor shot through his heart. He slowly wrapped his arms around her waist, unable to utter a single word.
...
Mi Xing clutched his head as he fled back to the Southern Region in a pathetic state.
Countless black threads connected his detached head to his severed neck. He had managed to save his own life only because he’d fled fast enough, preventing Fei Yuan from destroying the Demon Beast Crystal Core inside his body.
He was filled with immense regret.
Last night, he had used the cover of darkness to launch a surprise attack on the Western Beast Emperor, only to be unexpectedly intercepted by Fei Yuan and Lou Tian. It was only then that he’d discovered the Central Phoenix Emperor had already recovered most of his power!
He was no match for him at all!
’Unless I join forces with Quan Jin and take down that menace, the Phoenix Emperor!’
But Quan Jin was preoccupied and kept refusing to cooperate. So, Mi Xing manipulated the palace servants and, through various clues, discovered that Quan Jin secretly cared a great deal for that foreign female.
Not only did the foreign female know the son Quan Jin secretly protected, but the young snake even called her "Mother." Their relationship was obvious.
Mi Xing had dispatched Demon Beasts for an ambush, not expecting to capture Fei Yuan, but hoping to seize Sang Luo in the chaos. He planned to use her to threaten Quan Jin into an alliance.
Ahead, a colossal Soaring Snake several hundred meters long materialized. It resembled a dragon, its power so immense it seemed to shake the very heavens and earth.
The colossal snake’s body wasn’t physical flesh, but was formed from countless wisps of condensed Black Qi. The wings unfurled on its back were large enough to blot out the sky.
A portion of its body had been seared by true fire, revealing the stark white bone beneath.
BOOM!
The Soaring Snake thrashed violently among the mountains, sending countless rocks tumbling down as it tried to rub at its injury.
Its eyes turned completely black, and the malevolent Black Qi shrouding its body spiraled almost out of control.
The eyes on the blood-soaked head Mi Xing held in his hands lit up. The head flew into mid-air and shouted, "Quan Jin, come with me! Let’s go kill that Dead Phoenix! Let’s get our reven—Ah!"
The black snake spotted Mi Xing. The next instant, it lunged into the air, opened its massive maw, and swallowed him whole—body and head alike.
The wound where the bone had been exposed healed in an instant.
Then, the Soaring Snake vanished, leaving no trace.
...
After returning to the Phoenix Palace, Fei Yuan began searching everywhere for the Spiritual Materials needed to refine the Reincarnation Pill.
Several of the Spiritual Materials were nearly extinct and extremely difficult to find.
Fei Yuan posted a huge bounty throughout the Central region, traded with the other Beast Emperors and the Beast Kings of various races, and mobilized nearly the entire East Continent for the search. Half a month later, he finally gathered all the necessary Spiritual Materials and went into seclusion to begin the Alchemy.
The Reincarnation Pill was a top-tier Divine Pill capable of nullifying Rule Power. Even with the Elixir Recipe, it was no easy feat for Fei Yuan to successfully refine it. His first attempt failed in under three days, destroying all the Spiritual Materials in the process.
Fei Yuan, however, was not particularly discouraged. He immediately sent the Beastmen under his command to search for another round of materials. For an Alchemist, the greatest taboo is the fear of failure; every failure is just another step on the road to success.
Meanwhile, Sang Luo, after returning to the Imperial Palace, had planned on getting pregnant with Fei Yuan’s child as soon as possible. To her surprise, he spent all his time in seclusion for Alchemy upon his return, giving her no opportunity for *that*.
When she heard he had failed for the fifth time, Sang Luo couldn’t sit still any longer.
It wasn’t that she doubted Fei Yuan’s talent and power. He had given her his promise, so he was surely determined to succeed. But who knew how long it would take for him to actually refine the Reincarnation Pill? It could take forever.
Sang Luo was in a hurry to reach the Emperor Rank so she could bring Little Qi to her side. Once she had the power, she would no longer have to fear Caesar trying to take their son back.
’The pregnancy with Fei Yuan’s child will surely last longer than a year. By the time I’m ready to give birth, the Reincarnation Pill will probably be finished. I’m on a tight schedule.’
"Noble female, His Majesty has come out of seclusion."
"Mm. He emerged seven days later than last time. Did he fail again?" Sang Luo mused. "Let me count... this is the sixth time, isn’t it?"
The servant replied awkwardly, "His Majesty is being more cautious this time. He said he wants to consolidate the lessons from his previous failures and will rest for half a month before entering seclusion again."
’Good. That’s perfect.’
’Half a month is more than enough time.’
"Where is His Majesty now?"
"Resting in Ningshen Hall."
"Has he eaten lunch?"
"No. His Majesty seemed rather weary after leaving the Alchemy Room, so he went straight to Ningshen Hall to rest."
After the servant left, Sang Luo had the kitchens prepare a bowl of nourishing, sweet Spirit Ginseng soup. She then changed into a lotus-pink gauze dress, a departure from her usual style. The dress clung to her lovely figure, revealing tantalizing glimpses of the pale, delicate skin on her shoulders and back. Around her waist, she tied a red silk ribbon designed to come undone with a single tug, accentuating her slender waist and making it look small enough to be encircled by a single hand.
She stood before the mirror admiring her reflection for a moment, quite pleased with the result. ’Any male with a healthy body and mind would feel his blood race at a sight like this. He’d get hard instantly.’
’I refuse to believe that old phoenix can resist this!’
Carrying the hot soup, Sang Luo went to Ningshen Hall.
Fei Yuan was not asleep. He was sitting on a divan, dressed in a dark red brocade robe. With his chin propped on one hand, he was still studying the restored Elixir Recipe.
He would occasionally lift his brush to correct a few sections where his deductions had been flawed.
Hearing footsteps at the door, he looked up. His long, narrow, dark phoenix eyes landed on her, and a strange light flickered in their depths. He closed the Elixir Recipe. "Little Luoruo, do you need me for something?"
"I heard Your Majesty hasn’t been resting well, so I had some soup specially made for you. Would you like to try it?"
"How thoughtful of you, Little Luoruo." A smile touched Fei Yuan’s phoenix eyes, but he made no move to put down the scroll in his hand.
An idea struck Sang Luo. She scooped up a spoonful of soup and brought it to his vibrant red lips.
Fei Yuan took a small sip. "The kitchen’s skill is as mediocre as always," he remarked lightly. "Take it away. I have no appetite."
Sang Luo was momentarily speechless. Then, she retrieved a jar of wine from her storage space and declared confidently, "This wine! I really brewed this myself. Would Your Majesty care for a taste?"
"Feed it to me with your mouth," he said, the smile in his phoenix eyes deepening.
Sang Luo straddled his long, firm thighs, took a mouthful of wine, and then lowered her head to kiss him.
