Future Beast World: Becoming A Pampered Beauty-Chapter 238 - 182: Si Ye Emerges from Seclusion
Sang Luo felt a vague sense of unease. She questioned Uncle Su and the other Beastmen, but couldn’t get a clear answer.
A few days later, new word arrived.
"Queen, the seas have been rather turbulent lately. On Your Majesty’s orders, we are to escort you away."
Sang Luo took a hard bite of the Spirit Fruit, its flavor an indescribable mix of sour and bitter. She then rose and strode forward, fixing the messenger with a cold, commanding glare. Her voice was resolute. "Every single one of you is hiding things from me. I know this is his wish, but I am both the Queen of the South Sea and Ah Ze’s partner. If you keep me in the dark about everything from beginning to end, how can I possibly leave with any peace of mind?"
"It’s not that we meant to hide it from you, we were just afraid of worrying you, Queen."
The Beastman, seeing he could hide it no longer, relented. "The Eye of the Ruins has become extremely unstable. His Majesty has decided to completely seal off the South Sea, and no one will be able to enter or leave. If you don’t leave now, Queen, I’m afraid you won’t be able to leave the South Sea for the next ten years."
"Where is Lou Xianyue right now?"
"His Majesty is in... the Abyssal Tomb. The Eye of the Ruins is located in a corner of the Abyssal Tomb, where the lifeblood of generations of Shark Kings and Shark Emperors is stored to suppress it." The Beastman lowered his head respectfully. "Please don’t worry too much, Queen. The seal on the Eye of the Ruins loosens over time; it has always been this way. It isn’t a major crisis. It just needs to be reinforced every hundred years, and we’ve happened upon the centennial cycle."
"Guarding the Eye of the Ruins is the destiny of every Shark King. During this process, His Majesty will expend a great deal of spiritual energy and cannot be disturbed by any outside forces... He truly cannot get away to come back. He asked us to relay a message to you, Queen: He is well, so please do not worry."
Sang Luo touched her belly and sighed. "I can stay here and wait for him."
"His Majesty gave specific instructions for us to escort you back. He said that after some time has passed, he will come to see you himself."
"Then before I leave, can I go to the Abyssal Tomb to see him?"
"I’m afraid that won’t be possible. The South Sea is being completely sealed tomorrow. By the way, His Majesty also said you may take the Young Master with you."
In the end, Sang Luo left the sea. She didn’t take Little Blue Eucalyptus, as he was still young and the Deep Sea environment was better suited for him.
She didn’t return to the East Continent immediately, instead lingering near the coast where she detected a trace of residual Demonic Qi.
This Demonic Qi was exceptionally strange, unlike that of any Demon Beast she had previously encountered. It carried an indescribable, deathly danger and gave off the faint stench of rot...
Sang Luo went to a nearby tribe to search for the source.
"I was attacked by a Demon Beast! Please, save me!"
Not far away, a female Beastman covered in blood was crying out for help. Her lower body looked as if it had been bitten off by some kind of beast.
Taking pity on her, Sang Luo retrieved a Healing Pill from her storage space and walked over to give it to her.
As she drew near, the female suddenly grabbed Sang Luo’s hand in a death grip. Immediately after, "her" facial features twisted bizarrely, and her hand melted into a pool of foul-smelling pus.
The skin on Sang Luo’s right hand seared with intense heat. Her eyes turned sharp and cold. Her other hand summoned her folded fan, which transformed into a blade. She sliced off the creature’s hand, and with another flash of the blade, its ugly head went rolling a dozen meters away.
The monster’s corpse rapidly dissolved into a pool of bloody liquid and bone fragments. A wisp of Demonic Qi dissipated, drawing countless flies and ants to feast ravenously upon the remains. It was a truly nauseating sight.
Another group of monsters emerged from the woods.
’I call them monsters because they weren’t Beastmen, nor did they resemble Demon Beasts. They were more like reanimated corpses.’
There were several hundred of them!
To her shock, Sang Luo saw wisps of black Demonic Qi rising from her hand. The skin was beginning to fester and rot before her very eyes, the wound spreading rapidly toward her upper arm.
’Damn it. A single touch from these things and my skin starts to rot instantly. I don’t know if I’ll be assimilated and turned into one of these monsters...’
The monsters swarmed her.
Divine fire rained from the heavens, and the ground was filled with agonized screams.
A few of the monsters that slipped through the barrage tried to ambush Sang Luo from behind, only to be sent flying dozens of meters by a kick from the newcomer. She looked at the red-haired young man who had just landed. "Ah Ye?"
"Don’t be afraid, Luoluo. I’m here."
Si Ye dispatched the monsters with a speed that suggested this was not his first encounter with them.
Once he had burned all the monsters to cinders, he rushed to Sang Luo’s side. Taking her hand, his brow furrowed deeply at the sight of the pus and blood. "How could you be so careless?" He immediately led her to the edge of a clear lake, immersed her hand in the water to wash away the pus and blood, then retrieved a special salve from his storage space to bandage the wound.
The stinging, swollen feeling in her palm quickly subsided.
Si Ye took off his cyan outer robe and draped it over Sang Luo. He carefully checked her for any other injuries, sighing in relief when he found none. He reached out to gently rub her cheek and murmured, "What are you doing in such a dangerous place?"
"I should be the one asking you that. Weren’t you undergoing your tribulation?"
"I... I’ve completed it!"
Sang Luo could sense the deep, powerful aura he now radiated and knew he had successfully passed his tribulation and ascended to the Emperor Rank.
"Didn’t you say you’d come looking for me after you finished? Counting the days, it should have been over a month since your tribulation ended."
"I did! I went back to the Phoenix Palace to find you, but... you and Fei Yuan were still..." Si Ye’s handsome face fell, and his anger flared anew.
Sang Luo suddenly remembered something and quickly clamped her mouth shut, her face flushing slightly. "Well..."
Seeing her guilty expression, Si Ye grew even more furious. "I shouldn’t have come back."
After completing his tribulation, he had immediately gone back to find her, only to walk in on her and Fei Yuan being intimate. Si Ye had been half-dead with rage. Deciding it was a case of ’out of sight, out of mind,’ he left to travel and train. He’d unexpectedly detected the auras of numerous Demon Beasts and had been tracking them ever since, slaying many along the way.
A moment ago, Si Ye had sensed Sang Luo’s aura and thought he was imagining it. He rushed over anyway, arriving just in time to see her in such a perilous situation.
It was a good thing he was nearby. Otherwise, he couldn’t bear to imagine what might have happened to her.
Sang Luo pulled him down to sit by the river and gave him a kiss on the cheek. "I went back to the clan’s territory a while ago to see Little Zhenzhen. She’s already up and about, full of life and energy. Fei Yuan also showed me a portrait of you as a child. The two of you, father and daughter, look almost identical, aside from the color of your plumage."
Si Ye wrapped an arm around her, and his expression softened as he looked at her lovely face. "After I left the Phoenix Palace, I also returned to the clan’s lands. My mother, who used to wish every day for my return, is now ready to kick me out, terrified I’m going to run off with Zhenzhen."
"I heard from the Beast Mother. She said you took Zhenzhen last time without a word. The entire Bian Clan thought an enemy had snuck in and kidnapped her. They searched frantically for over half a month before you finally sent word that she was safe." Sang Luo looked at his handsome, unruly face and broke into a grin. "I really can’t believe you were afraid of heights when you were little."
"...Did that old phoenix, Fei Yuan, tell you that?" Si Ye’s face flushed slightly. "I’m not afraid anymore!"
"Haha, Fei Yuan said it’s all thanks to him. He said throwing you off a hill a few times helped you get over your fear of heights."
"Did he tell you a nearly ten-thousand-meter-high cliff was a ’small hill’?"
To this day, Si Ye gritted his teeth in frustration just thinking about it. Back then, when that old phoenix saw how long it was taking him to manifest his Phoenix Body, he’d acted like he’d lost his mind and had just thrown him off a ten-thousand-meter cliff. It was simple: transform into his Phoenix Body or die.
"Right, what exactly are these monsters?" Sang Luo asked after she finished suppressing her laughter. "They seem like Demon Beasts, but not quite. They’re far more disgusting."
