Future Beast World: Becoming A Pampered Beauty-Chapter 345 - 284: Does He Really Think I’m Dead
’Great, I’m eating my words. I never should have asked that.’
"And another thing," Sang Luo said honestly, "Minos looks much younger than you."
"..." ’Right for the jugular. He really didn’t like the sound of that!’
Sang Luo huffed. "Hmph. And what’s more, Minos gave me his Soul Mark on our first time. I wonder who it was that dawdled and hesitated for so long, probably sizing me up a hundred times over before finally giving his to me reluctantly."
"If I’d given it to you sooner, wouldn’t you have needlessly suffered the pain of Nirvana twice?" Fei Yuan’s voice trailed off, completely outmatched. But then he seized on a key piece of information and changed the subject. "You’ve already bonded with him? Where is the Soul Mark?"
This time, it was Sang Luo whose confidence wavered.
Fei Yuan moved to pull off her clothes.
The mark was in a rather... well, a rather intimate spot. Sang Luo, blushing, quickly grabbed his hand and chided, "What’s so interesting about someone else’s Soul Mark? You can’t look!"
Seeing her rare, bashful expression, Fei Yuan’s eyes narrowed dangerously. Suspicion mounted in his mind. ’Where in the world did that Dead Angel leave his Soul Mark?’
’He knew damn well that the more ascetic and aloof someone appeared, the wilder they could be when they finally let loose—possibly even wilder than him.’
"Let me see."
"No."
"Your back? Your thigh? Where is it?"
"No, it’s none of those..."
Fei Yuan was so angry he nearly choked. ’There aren’t many places left.’
"Let me see. Just one peek."
"No. I said no."
"..."
They faced off, glaring at each other.
Fei Yuan conceded with a sigh. "You wicked little female. You find someone new and shiny and forget all about your old flame!"
He pulled her forcefully into his arms and gave her a hard kiss. "Little Ye told me you’ve been gone for almost four months. If I hadn’t come looking for you today, were you planning on never coming back?"
"No, I was actually planning to go back in a few days. But I have some loose ends to tie up. I can’t just leave without saying anything, right? Minos would definitely come after me." Sang Luo looked up at Fei Yuan, pecked the corner of his mouth, and smiled. "And you didn’t even bring the children for me to see!"
"This is my first time in the Holy Domain, too. I wasn’t sure what the situation was like, so how could I risk bringing our two little treasures here? Little Ye is at the palace taking care of them, so don’t worry." Fei Yuan pinched her cheek. "But you—you’d better come back."
Still not feeling reassured, he pressed her for a firm answer. "When will you be back? Tell me, and I’ll come get you."
’...You probably won’t be able to get in next time.’
She had just seen with her spiritual power that Minos had personally gone to reinforce the seal outside the Holy Palace. If an outsider were to break in, he would sense it immediately. Any Beastman whose cultivation realm was beneath his would be instantly annihilated by the Array.
"You shouldn’t try to force your way into the Holy Palace again. You’ve most likely provoked Minos, and he’s personally reinforced the seal outside. Your realm is probably still a little weaker than his, so you could be annihilated by the Array. Then I’d really never see you again."
Fei Yuan raised an eyebrow and smiled. "Then give me a definite date. I can’t wait."
"Seven days at the latest. I promise I’ll be back."
Minos returned.
"Are you two finished talking?"
Fei Yuan scoffed. "We have plenty more to say. We won’t be finished anytime soon."
Minos shot him an indifferent glance, the corner of his mouth twitching slightly. Unhurriedly, he said, "Since you’ve come all this way, why not stay in the Holy Palace for a few days? I’ve already had someone prepare quarters for Emperor Phoenix. We’ll have all the time in the world for a heart-to-heart."
Fei Yuan smiled sweetly. "The Holy Monarch is too kind. But there’s no need to go to any trouble. Little Luoruo and I are a lawfully bonded couple, so sharing her room will be just fine." He deliberately squeezed Sang Luo’s hand. "Isn’t that right, Little Luoruo? After sharing a bed for so many years, there’s no need to be so distant."
Minos’s expression grew even colder. ’This is the bedchamber of the Holy Monarch and the Holy Queen!’
’If *he’s* staying in the bedchamber, where am *I* supposed to stay?’
An undercurrent of hostility surged between the two males. The tension was palpable.
Sang Luo reached out and pinched Fei Yuan’s waist hard. ’This damn bird is going to be the death of me! Can’t he see Minos’s face is practically black with rage?’ She had known Minos for a long time, and this was the first time she had ever seen the publicly aloof and composed Holy Monarch look this furious.
’In Minos’s mind, Fei Yuan had probably already been sliced into a thousand pieces hundreds of times over.’
Sang Luo had no doubt that if she weren’t there, the two of them would have come to blows on the spot.
Fei Yuan had come looking for her the moment he emerged from seclusion, professing how he’d missed her to his very bones. Sang Luo didn’t have the heart to be harsh with him. She could only clear her throat and whisper, "You... if you want to stay for a few days, you should stay in the palace that Minos prepared."
Displeasure flashed in Fei Yuan’s eyes. He snorted. "No, thanks. The children are waiting for me to get back and take care of them. I came all this way just to bring you home. If you don’t want to leave, there’s no reason for me to stay in this place."
Minos said coolly, "A banquet is already being prepared. I must insist that Emperor Phoenix stay and join us tonight."
"Heh, it’s not some kind of fatal banquet, is it?"
Sang Luo tugged at his sleeve. "What nonsense are you talking about!"
’At least with her here,’ she thought, ’the most they’ll do is snipe at each other out of jealousy. They wouldn’t dare actually fight.’
Minos chuckled softly. "Emperor Phoenix will know once he attends, won’t he?"
’It’s like choosing between the palm and the back of your hand.’ Sang Luo looked between the two men, who were ready to pounce on each other. Her heart twisted, and for a moment, she had no idea what to do.
Fei Yuan gently stroked her hand, not wanting to drag her into their conflict. "Since the Holy Monarch has so graciously invited me, it would be disrespectful to refuse. Let’s set a time tonight for a proper discussion."
"I couldn’t ask for more."
"..."
’Forget it. Let them do whatever they want.’
Sang Luo wasn’t asking for much anymore. ’As long as nobody dies, I’ll be happy.’
Minos still had other matters to attend to, so he left first.
Before leaving, he glanced at Sang Luo, a hint of loneliness in his eyes.
Sang Luo had just taken a step forward when Fei Yuan pulled her back. She looked at his soft smile and sighed. ’It’s hard to divide one’s heart evenly.’ She realized she was being biased—biased toward the Beast Husband who had been with her the longest.
Minos saw this, and the warmth in his eyes gradually faded.
In that moment, he was once again that indifferent, cold Saint Heir, in whose eyes it was impossible for anyone to leave a mark.
Minos went to the Holy Hall.
He had only recently ascended the throne and had a mountain of work to deal with. He had idled away two months; it was time to get back to business.
His mating season was over; he had just been trying to keep Sang Luo with him.
He had wanted to put it off for as long as he could, but Fei Yuan’s arrival today had shattered that desperate hope.
He couldn’t get through half a page of the documents in his hands.
Leaning on the desk with one hand, he massaged his temples.
His head throbbed.
A Servant presented some cooling tea.
Minos held the teacup, closed his eyes, and asked, as if it were a casual afterthought, "What are those two doing now?"
The Servant glanced at him nervously. ’The entire Holy Hall is under the Holy Monarch’s control. What could His Majesty possibly not know? Why would he need to ask me?’
"Perhaps... perhaps they are taking a stroll in the garden. Or maybe..."
CRACK!
The teacup shattered. The Servant jumped in fright and hurried forward to clean up the mess.
Minos’s hand, dripping with tea, clenched so tightly his knuckles turned white and veins stood out. His expression was frighteningly placid, but his blue eyes had transformed into vertical, golden beast pupils, and his aura was terrifying.
’That damned bird, daring to flirt in *my* bedchamber!’
’Does he think I’m dead?!’
"Someone! Prepare the banquet for the Phoenix Emperor."
If he didn’t do something soon, his own child would really have to take a number.
