Gamers Are Fierce-Chapter 728 - 726: Asking
These setbacks didn’t stop the anomaly from continuing its efforts. Subsequently, events comparable to horror movies unfolded in the bathroom.
The mirror above the washbasin suddenly made a dull shattering sound. Its surface was covered in a spiderweb of cracks.
A vague shadow with long hair could be seen in the mirror, dark as ink, with white light emanating from where its eyes would be. It stared straight at Li Ang and slowly formed a smile.
Soon after, strands of black hair began growing from the edges of the mirror, spreading like vines in all directions.
Once a sufficient number had grown, they wove themselves into braids, swinging and lashing about the bathroom like tentacles or whips.
The long-haired shadow in the mirror also started to move slowly towards the surface, growing larger, as if it was about to step out of the mirror and enter the bathroom.
Li Ang glanced indifferently at the shadow in the mirror, reached into a sack filled with soil, and activated Alchemy to create a bizarre gadget.
It was a long, hollow metal tube. One end was held in his hand, and the other split into more than a dozen branches, each ending with a steel wire ball the size of a fist.
Li Ang, holding the metal tube, rubbed it fiercely next to the mirror.
The growing strands of hair were immediately entangled by the steel wire balls, preventing them from weaving into braids.
Moreover, methane gas sprayed at high speed from inside the hollow metal tube, creating flames that scorched the hair.
At the same time, Li Ang picked up a wooden-handled rubber toilet plunger from next to the toilet and poked it against the mirror.
SQUELCH.
The rubber plunger, typically used to unclog toilets, was affixed to the mirror.
If the shadow in the mirror tried to pass through, its face would inevitably come into contact with the rubber head of the plunger.
Just thinking about what the plunger had touched before was enough to make one feel sick. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
What was worse, Li Ang even fashioned a conduit on the fly, one end connected to the toilet, the other to the mirror, continuously drawing water from the toilet and spraying it on the mirror with a HISSING sound.
The anomaly in the bathroom probably hadn’t heard of the famed story: workers in Japan Islands must clean toilets to the point where the water is clean enough to drink.
Firstly, the Dolphin Hotel primarily used English, so it was unlikely to be in the Japan Islands.
Secondly, that story was an outright fabrication—a rumor. Who in their right mind would drink toilet water? It’s not like they’re making coffee.
Moreover, the innermost part of a toilet has a U-shaped bend that cannot be cleaned with ordinary tools. This means that even if one were to pour ten bottles of Mr. Muscle into the toilet and scrub repeatedly, the water inside would still be dirty.
The shadowy figure in the mirror stopped before the waterfall of toilet water, falling silent once again.
HISS...
Li Ang, with a stern face, pinched the outlet of the conduit, splitting the toilet water fountain into two streams, then three, four, and five, until it resembled Scatter Flowers, akin to a showerhead.
HISS...
Under Li Ang’s gaze, the adversary finally dissipated on its own.
And with that, Li Ang continued to shower undisturbed for twenty minutes.
Undeterred, the anomaly tried another tactic.
While Li Ang washed, he noticed that the cleaner he scrubbed the mud from his body, the hotter the water from the showerhead became.
Eventually, it surpassed one hundred degrees Celsius, turning into scorching steam that filled the entire bathroom with a foggy haze.
Li Ang evolved a thick, tough chitinous shell on his skin, allowing him to endure the scalding steam.
After a brief moment of thought, he tried to secrete oil, other secretions, and sweat on his skin’s surface, forming body dirt—what was colloquially known as "bath clay."
Sure enough, after the body dirt formed, the shower water temperature subtly dropped a bit.
Li Ang raised an eyebrow and continued to secrete dirt on his body.
At the same time, he allowed his skin to grow extra layers that sagged on his arms and belly like a multi-layered cake, producing even more body dirt.
Although this scene looked somewhat insane, it was indeed effective.
The water temperature immediately dropped to normal levels, and Li Ang, as if flipping the pages of a book, scooped up the dozen or so layers of his abdominal skin and cheerfully rubbed them together.
It had to be said, the anomaly in the Dolphin Hotel was quite dedicated to its role. Even under such circumstances, it didn’t choose to leave (perhaps it was still in a state without self-awareness), fighting relentlessly.
While Li Ang was scrubbing his hair, two ghostly pale arms stretched out from his short black hair, attempting to strangle him.
However, the opponent’s strength seemed insufficient.
Li Ang grabbed both wrists, "pulled" the entity out of his own head, and with an over-the-shoulder throw, flung it into the bathtub.
And this anomalous entity... turned out to be the girl concealing her face with a fan, from the oil painting Li Ang had encountered before.
Acquaintances meeting again, how exceptionally friendly.
This time, without the oil painting to obstruct him, Li Ang directly took out the Soul Reaping Bronze Scythe from his inventory; it hadn’t seen action in a long time.
He pressed the scythe’s blade against the neck of the girl concealing her face with a fan and began to "exchange pleasantries" with her.
Perhaps because the girl concealing her face with a fan was no longer in her incomplete state from the oil painting, or perhaps due to Li Ang’s "genial" inquiries, she—much like Carter Murphy, who resided in the typewriter—regained her self-awareness and was able to answer some of Li Ang’s questions.
She explained that she was also a resident of the hotel. Her name was Judy Cecil, a Spaniard, who had died in a car accident during a family trip.
She, her parents, and her siblings had all been in the accident, but only she had been chosen to enter the hotel.
She had arrived at the hotel about a month before Carter Murphy and knew more than he did.
For instance, she had heard that the longest-staying resident had been living in the hotel for thirty years, safe and sound, and had even found a husband, receiving the blessings of the hotel staff at their wedding.
Additionally, over the years, several residents had seen anomalies in the corridors at night and survived.
According to their accounts, there were a few distinct types of anomalies:
"One type is a creature resembling a hybrid of a monkey and a mouse. They appear in groups, are bloodthirsty and brutal, but not very intelligent; simply closing one’s room door is enough to be safe.
Another is a Caucasian man in a Dolphin Hotel staff uniform. He smiles and will gently ask residents in the corridor, in German, if they need help. To survive, one must politely refuse in English.
There’s also a decaying elderly creature carrying a sack, which is extremely dangerous. In the few documented sightings, it has even killed fully armed Dolphin Hotel staff. Upon encountering it, one must immediately enter an elevator, continuously change floors, and call for help from hotel staff to survive.
Beyond those, there are monsters disguised as trash cans, a monster that appears as an extra floor moving throughout the Dolphin Hotel, clowns wandering around with red balloons, and beings made of concrete blocks..."
