Gate of Revelation-Chapter 770 Swift
Chapter 770 Swift
As the Divine Master led the other priests to attack, Chen Xiaolian and Miao Yan had already stepped backwards. Their hands were placed on their backs as they observed the battle with a smile on their faces.
The priests appeared to be proficient in magic. The symbols they summoned using their gohei had varying shapes and they shone with different colours. There were ice, fire and electric, all shooting towards Sawakita Mitsuo’s team of three.
Sawakita Mitsuo had only just bowed towards Divine Master Amago. He had yet to even straighten his posture when his figure suddenly disappeared to re-appear behind one of the white-clad priests.
Before the priest could even react, Sawakita Mitsuo’s hand struck his back.
The priest cried wretchedly as the attack sent him flying, blood spraying out his mouth while his figure was still in mid-air.
Coincidentally, he flew towards another priest who had just summoned out a strange-looking symbol.
He then smashed into the symbol that his companion summoned. Instantly, he screamed in pain again as a crackling current of electricity wrapped around him.
A folding fan had – at an unknown moment – appeared in Sawakita Mitsuo’s hand.
The folding fan opened with a swooshing sound. Next, over 10 fan sticks flew out, transforming into streams of light before swirling around him.
Another priest, waving his gohei, had fired out a symbol. However, several of the streams of light split off. Like vipers, they circled around the symbol and shot towards the priest.
Straight through the heart.
Nagase Komi and the young man named Naito took action as well.
Nagase Komi’s entire body turned silvery white in colour and her right hand transformed into a blade. Evading the swing of a gohei, her body contracted before dashing straight towards the priest’s chest.
The blade swiftly stabbed into the priest’s chest. Then, with a slash, the priest, who did not even get the chance to cry, had two thirds of his chest cut. His internal organs scattered down the floor.
Naito, on the other hand, quickly retreated to the corner of the hall, where he summoned a mech.
“Eh?”
Chen Xiaolian cast a curious gaze at it.
The mech was bigger than the Sentinel mech. More, there were also complex symbols engraved upon its surface. It seemed like magic arrays.
He had never seen this type of mech before. Likely, it was not a common item that one could purchase from the system. Rather, it was a loot from some instance dungeon.
The moment Naito entered the mech, three thrusters spewed out flames and the mech immediately appeared at the top, almost hitting the top part of the hall.
The bottom plates of the mech’s hands suddenly opened and a wave of super-small missiles flew out like hornets towards the priests below.
Back then, seeing Nagase Komi slap him, Chen Xiaolian had assumed that Naito’s strength was at the same level as his status, not that high in Sawakita Mitsuo’s team.
Unexpectedly, his equipment was so strong.
Although this mech had yet to unveil all of its weapons and its defensive power, overall, it should be stronger than the average Sentinel mech. Only, it was far inferior compared to Roddy’s big one.
Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!
While the missiles were all small, the might of their explosions was anything but small. The missiles exploded upon striking the ground, but the shockwaves shook the entire hall.
Swiftly, the interior of the hall became filled with smoke and bloodied flesh littered the ground.
The battle ended in less than one minute.
Although the gohei that the priests wielded were capable of summoning strange symbols, they were not fast. And while the symbols appeared fairly powerful, they never managed to hit Sawakita Mitsuo’s team of three, not even once.
As for Divine Master Amago, he was only able to summon more symbols that appeared bigger.
Most importantly, none of them appear to possess any defensive moves. Their bodies were that of ordinary humans. The missiles from the mech and the blades produced from Nagase Komi’s liquid metal body could easily inflict fatal damage to them.
At that very moment, Divine Master Amago was lying on the floor, his back against a pillar as he cast a resentful stare at Sawakita Mitsuo.
His chest had been pierced in three different spots and one of his arms had been severed.
“You… cough, cough! You betrayed the Emperor! And… Amaterasu!”
Sawakita Mitsuo gave him a faint smile before ignoring him. Turning to Chen Xiaolian, he said, “Then, Chen-san, according to our previous agreement, this mitama is mine.”
“Of course.” Chen Xiaolian shrugged. “However, I doubt he would so easily hand it over, no?”
Sawakita Mitsuo was slightly shocked. Next, he turned, following Chen Xiaolian’s gaze.
A smile of despair appeared on Divine Master Amago’s face. “I offer my body to you… Takemikazuchi!”
Sawakita Mitsuo’s brows furrowed slightly. His index and middle finger placed together, he then pointed them at Divine Master Amago.
Following that, the streams of light formed from the fan sticks immediately gathered up and shot forward.
When there was only one metre between the streams of light and Divine Master Amago, the near-dead Divine Master Amago suddenly released a loud roar.
At the same time, the streams of light seemingly struck a layer of translucent wall. The resulting shockwaves created water-like ripples, visible to the naked eye.
Divine Master Amago stood up, looking at Sawakita Mitsuo with a stern demeanour. However, the pupils in his eyes had disappeared. Instead, they were pure white.
The wounds on his body were still there and his severed left arm remained severed, but he was no longer bleeding.
“You all… are the remnants of the Gods of the Land!”
Divine Master Amago’s lips were closed tightly, but the voice spread throughout the hall, bringing with it wave after wave of tremors. It was filled with peerless majesty.
“Take…” Sawakita Mitsuo’s face sank. His fingers beckoned and the streams of light flew back before swirling around him again. “Takemikazuchi? A God descended?!”
He had not expected this. The instance dungeon had only just begun. Yet, the system would actually arrange such a formidable enemy.
It arranged a… God to descend into the body of Divine Master Amago?
This was just the first phase.
As a professor of theology at Gakushuin University, there was no way Sawakita Mitsuo did not know of Takemikazuchi.
According to the Record of Ancient Matters, Takemikazuchi was not just the God of Thunder, he was also the God of Swords, God of Archery, God of Martial Arts and the God of Military.
Although his position amongst the Gods of Heaven was not particularly high, he possessed a very formidable combat power.
Sawakita Mitsuo swiftly backed away, his lips moving swiftly as he chanted. His hands were also forming hand seals non-stop.
Under his command, the streams of light formed from the fan sticks swiftly gathered up to form a massive lance of light. The lance then shot towards Divine Master Amago, now taken over by Takemikazuchi.
This time, in the face of the lance formed by tens of the streams of light, Takemikazuchi stretched his right hand out to take on the lance of light.
The lance pierced through the defensive barrier to heavily strike Takemikazuchi’s right palm, instantly creating a violent explosion.
The whole lance was sent flying away, but Takemikazuchi was also incapable of withstanding the formidable impact, which forced him to stagger while taking several steps backwards.
Seeing that, Sawakita Mitsuo felt slightly at ease.
Thankfully… although this body had been taken over by Takemikazuchi, the body was only that of Divine Master Amago. He could not be counted as a true ‘God’.
Although that first strike did not cause any noticeable damage to Takemikazuchi, it was at the very least, not something that Takemikazuchi could ignore.
In other words, there was hope for victory for his side.
Without waiting for Sawakita Mitsuo’s command, Naito and Nagase Komi attacked simultaneously.
This time, their target was a single person. Naito, who piloted the mech, no longer utilized the area-of-effect attack like the missiles. Instead, a minigun emerged from the mech’s left shoulder to open fire.
Nagase Komi did not engage in a melee battle this time. She quickly backed away, pulling out an electromagnetic rifle from her storage space before aiming and firing at Takemikazuchi.
Neither one was using spirit-type bullets. With the exception of big guilds such as Thorned Flower Guild and the resident guilds of Zero City, spirit-type bullets were a luxury. Those items had to be used sparingly.
This enemy of theirs was not a true God, after all. It was only borrowing a human body to appear here.
Due to that, ordinary bullets and energy-type weapons should be able to – at the very least – wound the human body that it was using.
Earlier, Takemikazuchi’s barrier had been penetrated by the lance of light and had yet to fully recover. Thus, in the face of this barrage of attacks, the barrier was torn apart once more.
After making their way past the barrier, the bullets lost a portion of their kinetic energy, which greatly reduced their might. Even so, they managed to leave a high number of bloody holes on Takemikazuchi’s body.
Takemikazuchi, however, simply stood there motionlessly. It was as though he could not feel any pain. Raising his right hand up high, his palm closed up, seemingly gripping a weapon.
Next, it swung down.
Seemingly having appeared out of thin air, three bolts of lightning, each as thick as a water bucket, suddenly descended from the sky. The lightning bolts pierced through the roof of the hall and descended upon the three of them.
Boom!
The three bolts of lightning were practically fused together and the protective suits that Sawakita Mitsuo and Nagase Komi were wearing were utterly incapable of withstanding the formidable lightning attack. They were thus knocked away.
Naito’s mech absorbed most of the lightning bolt’s power and crackling sounds rang out. A cloud of smoke burst out from the mech and it abruptly fell from mid-air.
A small part of the mech’s body and one of its arms had already turned red due to the high temperature. Some parts were already melting.
There was no telling how badly damaged the components inside were.
With just one lightning strike, the mech had lost its combat power.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The cockpit hatch shook non-stop. Naito was kicking the hatch in an attempt to get out. However, part of the hatch had become deformed due to the high temperature. No matter how hard he tried, he could not open it.
On the other side, Sawakita Mitsuo and Nagase Komi had only just gotten up, their figures staggering.
Takemikazuchi, though, had already raised his hand up high, an indifferent look on his face.
His body was already full of bloody holes from all the bullets he received, but he continued to stand.
The moment Nagase Komi got up, she clenched her teeth and charged. Sawakita Mitsuo also leapt towards Takemikazuchi.
The power of the lightning attacks was simply too strong. The two of them were wearing [A] class protective suits, but even those suits were incapable of fully blocking the earlier attack.
At present, their protective suits had already lost their functions. One more of that lightning attack and they would certainly die.
The only thing they could do now was to close the distance so that Takemikazuchi could not fire the lightning attacks again.
The two of them had only taken a few steps forward when they noticed a figure standing before Takemikazuchi.
Chen Xiaolian!
“Yo, we got ourselves a God here?”
Earlier, Chen Xiaolian had been standing in the corner of the hall with his hands behind his back as he leisurely observed the battle between the two parties. He had not made a single move.
Those priests were simply no match for Sawakita Mitsuo’s team, after all. They did not even have the time to attack Chen Xiaolian.
But now, Chen Xiaolian had suddenly chosen to take action.
When Chen Xiaolian appeared before him, Takemikazuchi’s face, which had been one of indifference, suddenly flickered. His upraised hand abruptly descended and three pillars of lightning descended upon Chen Xiaolian at the same time.
Sword light!
Chen Xiaolian, who had equipped the Sword in the Stone earlier, slashed.
Sword light shone and the three bolts of lightning, each as thick as a water bucket, disappeared without a trace.
The top part of the hall had been cleaved into two even halves.
“You…”
Shocked, Takemikazuchi had been about to say something when Chen Xiaolian’s sword reached his throat.
Sword light flashed and his head fell to the ground.
“Who are you?!”
The decapitated head, having fallen to the ground, continued to speak. After that, the mouth fell silent.
That sword attack was too fast, too sharp.
“Done!”
Keeping the Sword in the Stone, Chen Xiaolian then patted his hands and turned around with a smile. Walking towards Sawakita Mitsuo and Nagase Komi, he said, “Don’t worry. I promised. If there is a need to help, I will help.”
