Gateway of Immortality-Chapter 934: Fierce Battle Against Three Enemies
Qin Sang and his incarnation attacked together. Had it been any other Core Formation cultivator, their fate would have been no different from Daoist Fang's.
What surprised Qin Sang was that although the ease on Bai’s face had disappeared, there was still little fear to be seen.
Does he truly have the confidence to face both me and my incarnation at once?
Qin Sang’s heart sank. Many of his techniques could not be used against Bai, such as the Blood Defilement Divine Light. Even treasures like the star turban would be restricted.
Bai had taken over the yaksha’s body and seemed to be able to abandon it at will. Even if the star turban destroyed that body, it might not harm his ghostly shadow's true body. Moreover, the yaksha had been under Bai’s control for so long that who knew what changes had taken place? Its former weaknesses might no longer exist.
Qin Sang’s mind raced as he pushed the sword wheel with all his strength.
On his incarnation, blood qi surged upward. The blood sword seemed jubilant, bursting with dazzling crimson light. A beam of blood-colored sword qi, several zhang long, slashed out, howling as it came. The stench of blood was overpowering.
Bai stared at Qin Sang and the incarnation’s combined strike. He did not move, remained abnormally calm, and swept both arms forward, attempting to fight them alone.
Whoosh! Whoosh... Ghost-claw shadows filled the heavens like a black tidal wave, surging back against Qin Sang’s side.
Already familiar with their power, Qin Sang and his incarnation did not hesitate. They poured even more true essence into their flying swords, which rang with a sharp metallic cry, tearing through everything in their path.
The barrier of ghost claws could not hold long. Countless claw shadows perished beneath the overwhelming sword qi and steadily retreated. Yet Bai showed no sign of panic.
He drew a deep breath, and corpse qi boiled from his body. A faint layer of corpse qi appeared on his skin, carrying a strange ripple. Closer inspection revealed that the corpse qi had turned pale, eerily similar to the surrounding ghostly mist.
For decades, Bai had tempered this body. Before seizing the yaksha, its corpse qi had come from refining Earth Malevolent Qi, darker and heavier than the ghostly mist.
Bang! Bang! The sound rang out again and again as the ghost-claw shadows were shattered by the two flying swords. The barrier thinned further.
Bai let out a low shout. Without warning, corpse qi erupted from within, forming chains of gray-white light that shot into the depths of the ghostly mist, inscribed with eerie runes.
In an instant, the ghostly mist boiled. Heaven and earth changed color.
The mist was drawn by the corpse qi, surging madly toward Bai and swiftly condensing into a hurricane around him. The ghostly hurricane spread outward. Bone mountains collapsed, skeletons shattered.
Startled resentful spirits roared in anger, but sensing the terrifying power in the clash, they shrank back, circling only at the edges, too afraid to approach.
When the battle began, resentful spirits had already gathered outside. Their ghostly wails now rose in waves, as if cheering both sides on.
But now, every resentful spirit old and new was bound by the chains and dragged into the hurricane.
The mist spun wildly, filled with horrifying screams, surging like a white storm that blotted out the sky. Muttering under his breath, Bai’s eyes shone brightly. He flung his hand forward.
With a deafening roar, the ghostly hurricane collapsed downward, smashing toward Qin Sang and his incarnation with crushing force, as though it would grind all things into dust.
Qin Sang was secretly shaken. Bai had somehow mastered a supernatural ability to command the ghostly mist and harness the strength of countless resentful spirits.
The pressure of the storm tightened Qin Sang’s chest. Without hesitation he flew backward, signaling his external incarnation to retreat with him and avoid the brunt of the attack.
The hurricane swallowed their sword wheel and the beam of blood-red sword qi. The sword wheel was forced into a defensive stance, while the blood sword trembled repeatedly, both suppressed.
In the next instant, Bai’s pupils flickered, and his figure vanished, melting into the mist. Ignoring the incarnation, he blinked several times and went straight for Qin Sang himself.
His palm swept forward, infused with the power of the ghostly mist, forming a giant gray-white hand that slammed down. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
Qin Sang gave a cold snort, retreating swiftly. With a sharp flick of his wrist, the Primordial Unity Ring pierced through the massive hand and appeared above Bai’s head.
With a flash of astral light, the Two-Headed Hou leapt out. With a blur, it split into several phantoms, each baring its fangs and claws, lunging at Bai’s face.
Bang! The phantoms of the beast shattered, and its true body tumbled through the air before rolling back to Qin Sang’s side.
Bai, suddenly ambushed, was forced to block. His offensive faltered for a moment. Qin Sang and his incarnation seized the chance to break free from the hurricane, recalling their swords and pulling back.
"You even have a spirit beast?"
Bai was even more astonished, clearly not expecting Qin Sang to be such a troublesome opponent.
His eyes flickered. Pressing his advantage, he urged the ghostly mist forward once again. The two sides clashed in chaos, the battlefield shifting constantly.
The hurricane, swollen with resentful spirits, rampaged everywhere, glowing with interwoven streaks of blood-red and azure. Bai unleashed his might, hidden deep within the ghostly mist, untouchable.
Qin Sang grew more and more alarmed. Even with his incarnation and the Two-Headed Hou beside him—three late-stage Core Formation fighters together—they had gained no advantage.
"I told you before. As long as we are within this space, you will never be able to defeat me." Bai’s voice drifted faintly out of the mist.
Qin Sang gave a cold snort. "Stop pretending! Manipulating the ghostly mist and those spirits must place an immense burden on you. With your strength, you cannot hold out for long. And more importantly, you have not even fully taken this body!"
Amid the battle, Bai had failed to conceal himself completely. Qin Sang had caught the slip. Within the yaksha’s primordial spirit, the soul imprint he had left remained, not fully erased.
This surprised Qin Sang. He did not know if it was due to the Heavenly Corpse Talisman, or because his imprint carried a trace of the Jade Buddha’s aura.
When he had last come to Seven-Kill Hall, Bai had surely been too weak, even unwilling to face him directly.
Now Bai could contend with three powerful foes, but only a few decades had passed since then. It was entirely possible he had not yet finished refining the yaksha.
If the yaksha’s primordial spirit still existed, once Bai weakened, Qin Sang might be able to wrest control of it back.
Perhaps struck at his weak point, Bai fell silent for a moment before replying. "You are indeed sharp. But can you wait until I am spent? I may not know what happens outside, but I do know that many years pass between each visitor, and they always leave in a hurry. Surely you cannot linger here either? Unless you mean to be trapped with me."
Qin Sang said nothing. The battle raged on. With the help of his incarnation and the Two-Headed Hou, Qin Sang pressed relentlessly into the mist, searching for Bai’s true body.
Sensing Qin Sang’s silence as tacit admission, Bai’s spirits lifted. "Since neither of us can overcome the other, why don’t we cease fighting and discuss a trade? It could benefit us both."
Qin Sang gave no reply. Inwardly sneering, he formed a hidden seal. Within his body, the sound of wind and thunder stirred.
