Getting spoiled in a woman dominating world-Chapter 230: Tea?
That day, Brandon went back to Church of Rheanne.
Brandon leaned back against the plush couch casually.
Across from him, Callista von Aubrecht sat gracefully, "I understand, My Lord," she said after a brief silence.
Her fingers rested elegantly on her lap, "It is good for you to focus on training. The recent events have only proven how unpredictable things can become. Strength is the one thing we can never have enough of."
Brandon gave her a faint smile "Yeah."
She paused briefly, lowering her gaze before looking back at him "Would you need my help in this matter? If you wish, I could accompany Naevora and assist in your training. It would also serve as an added layer of security for you in the dungeons."
But Brandon shook his head slowly, "No, Calista."
"You stay here. You’re the only Empyrean who remains consistently stationed in the Church. If anything goes down while I’m away you’re the only one I can truly rely on to handle it swiftly."
He leaned forward slightly as he looked into her blonde eyes "Also... you’re the only one in the Church I trust the most. So, while I’m gone, I’ll need you to watch over things here. That’s more important than following me."
For a split second, Callista was taken aback and her eyes widened slightly.
It wasn’t often she was left speechless, but his words pierced through her usual calm demeanor like sunlight breaking through a clouded sky.
She lowered her gaze immediately, hiding the faint shimmer of emotion that threatened to show in her eyes.
She stood slightly from her seat and bent her head in a graceful bow "...Understood, My Lord."
"Thank you... for having such trust in me. I will not let you down. I swear it on my life and my name."
Brandon’s lips curved into a warm smile and he gave a small nod "I know you won’t, Calista. That’s why I’m entrusting you with this."
She straightened her posture again and her heart fluttered hearing his acknowledgement.
But as the room settled into a more thoughtful silence, Callista’s gaze became slightly more serious.
She hesitated for a moment before speaking again "My Lord... there is another matter you should be aware of. I’m not sure if news has already reached you... but the Empyrean Ji Lingsha is dead."
Brandon let out a deep sigh "I know."
Callista tilted her head slightly, watching his reaction "Then you must also know it was your sister Charlotte who killed her. There are discussions within the Government, the Sovereign Circle."
"They’re questioning her actions and, by extension, the stability of your influence."
Brandon rubbed his temple and muttered "Yes. I’m aware of the talks."
"The Council knows better than to try and make a move against her carelessly. Let them talk. Their whispers won’t change anything."
Callista inclined her head respectfully "Then I will ensure no further complications arise in your absence. I will keep the Church steady."
Brandon gave her a small, approving nod "I’m counting on you, Calista."
Her blonde eyes softened faintly as she bowed once more "Always."
She raised her gaze and asked "Then... will I get another kiss if I did a good job?"
EH? Brandon blinked, and then he remembered that he kissed her when she saved his life that day.
With a wry smile, he nodded "Yeah, sure..."
(A-n: It was Chapter 124, she asked for a kiss.. a reminder in case you have forgotten)
As they were speaking, the door opened and Seonhwa stepped inside with her usual maid dress.
In her hands, she carefully balanced a small silver tray with a kettle of steaming tea, two delicate cups, and a small dish of neatly arranged tea snacks.
Calista glanced over her shoulder at Seonhwa before standing up.
With one last look toward Brandon, she placed a hand lightly over her chest and bowed her head.
"Then I will take my leave, Lord Herald."
Brandon gave a soft nod, watching her turn and walk out of the room.
Now only Brandon and Seonhwa remained.
Seonhwa stopped just in front of him and lowered her head with a gentle smile "Master, here is your tea." 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
Brandon relaxed slightly in his seat, giving her a small smile in return "Thank you, Seonhwa."
She set the tray down on the low table before him "It’s my pleasure..."
Seonhwa then lifted the kettle with delicate hands and poured the tea into the fine porcelain cup.
The steam curled softly upward, carrying a faint herbal scent.
Brandon took the cup, smiling lightly as he lifted it to his lips.
But the moment the tea touched his tongue, his smile faltered.
...Salt?
Instead of the soothing, subtly sweet flavor he was expecting, a sharp saltiness hit his taste buds.
He blinked, momentarily surprised ’Did she... mix up the sugar?’
He slowly raised his gaze to look at Seonhwa.
She leaned slightly toward him now and her eyes shimmered with an almost childlike anticipation.
"How is it, Master?" she asked softly, her voice carrying a rare note of excitement.
"It’s been a while since I made tea for you... I wanted to try again."
There was something so sincere in the way she looked at him that Brandon found himself pausing.
For a moment, he could have pointed out the odd taste.
But seeing her hopeful gaze and her slight nervousness behind the soft smile, something in him softened.
He let out a small, quiet chuckle "Yeah. It’s really good."
Seonhwa’s eyes brightened instantly and a faint blush crept onto her pale cheeks "I’m glad... I was a little worried."
Brandon forced down another sip, hiding the subtle twitch of his lips at the overwhelming saltiness "No... it’s fine. I appreciate it."
"Really?" She clasped her hands in front of her and tilted her head slightly with hapiness "If you like it... then I’ll make it for you more often."
Brandon smiled faintly, setting the cup back down "I would like that."
She sat gracefully at the edge of the chair nearby, quietly placing the small plate of snacks closer to him.
For a few moments, Seonhwa just watched him quietly, as though simply being allowed in his presence was enough for her.
To ease the strange taste lingering in his mouth, Brandon reached for one of the snacks, a soft tea biscuit, and took a bite.
It balanced the salty tea enough to keep his expression composed.
Seonhwa tilted her head slightly "...You’re very calm today, Master. Did something happen with Lady Calista?"
Brandon shook his head lightly "No, nothing bad. Just... preparations for the training ahead. I’ll be leaving for a while soon."
Her fingers froze slightly against her lap "...Leaving?"
"Yeah. I am heading into different dungeons for a few months. I need to grow stronger. I won’t be here for a while."
Seonhwa’s gaze lowered and her lashes brushed her cheeks as a faint shadow passed over her expression.
But she nodded slowly, "...I see."
Brandon caught the faint dip in her tone and smiled reassuringly "It’s only for a while. I’ll come back."
She blinked, then nodded once more, "...I will wait."
Brandon finished the last sip of tea and set the cup down with a soft clink.
Seonhwa stood and carefully gathered the empty kettle and cups "I’ll prepare a fresh pot later."
"Sure," Brandon replied with a soft smile.
