Getting spoiled in a woman dominating world-Chapter 237: A little time has passed
A month has already passed...
*swoosh*
The elongated blade-arm sliced through the air at blinding speed.
Brandon’s eyes flickered and he dodged, feeling the whisper of displaced air rush past his hair as the attack narrowly missed him.
Without pausing, he rolled to the side and sprang up from the cracked stone floor.
Before the aberrant could retract its arm, Brandon lunged forward, slashing his dagger across its forearm.
A spray of black blood erupted from the wound, sizzling as it hit the ground.
The creature shrieked and, in a frenzy, it swung its other arm in a wide arc.
Brandon reacted instantly and he leapt backward, his body flipping midair to avoid the strike.
As his boots hit the ground, he felt the impact of the creature’s claw carving a deep gouge where he had just been standing.
He charged again and this time, the aberrant anticipated his movement.
Its claw shot forward like a spear, aiming straight for his torso.
But Brandon had expected that. He twisted his body sideways mid-run, feeling the deadly edge graze past his jacket, and planted one foot on the outstretched arm.
Using it as a springboard, he vaulted up onto the creature’s shoulder.
With that, he drove one dagger into the side of its neck.
Dark blood spurted out in a heavy gush.
"Graargh!!" The aberrant roared and swung its arm wildly to dislodge him.
Brandon pulled the blade free and pushed off its body, flipping back as the aberrant staggered from the wound.
He landed lightly on his feet and clenched the daggers tightly.
Its body convulsed, and suddenly, black tendrils erupted from its back, thrashing through the air like whips.
They lashed out at him in all directions, cutting through the ground and walls.
Brandon narrowed his eyes and a blue glint passed through his eyes as he used ’Gravity Vortex.’.
’Too wide to dodge normally...’
The tendrils slowed mid-swing, dragged momentarily by the increased localized gravity.
It was only a second’s worth of restraint, but it was all he needed.
He sprinted forward, dodging through the slowed tendrils.
His dagger gleamed as he slashed through one tendril after another, severing them cleanly and leaving the creature shrieking in pain.
Closing the distance in a flash, Brandon slid low beneath another swipe, then sprang upward with explosive force.
SLEECH
He drove both daggers simultaneously into the aberrant’s chest, piercing straight into its core.
A violent ripple of ether surged outward from the impact and the aberrant let out one final screech before its entire body convulsed violently.
Brandon pulled his blades, flipping back just in time as the creature’s core overloaded.
BOOOOM!
The aberrant’s body imploded into a mess of etheric residue and black mist, disintegrating in a swirling cloud that faded into nothingness.
Brandon landed lightly on his feet breathing steadily.
"...Not bad," he murmured to himself, wiping the blade on a torn piece of his cloak.
It wasn’t just luck or reflexes, his movements and timings were sharper.
A month of relentless training with Naevora in dungeons had honed him.
From behind, he heard a familiar voice clap slowly.
"Not bad, kid," Naevora said, her tall figure emerging from the shadows.
Brandon glanced at her with a wry smile "I’m getting there. Slowly."
Hm? Suddenly Naevora’s eyes narrowed and she raised her gaze to look at the top of a building.
’How long has she been standing there? She just revealed her presence to me...’
Brandon followed her gaze and looked at the beautiful woman standing atop, her blonde hair swaying in the wind "Charlotte..."
Charlotte’s figure blurred, and in the next instant, she was standing on the floor before him.
Naevora blinked and thought wryly ’I can’t believe... we both are in the same rank...’
’Even between Empyrean, there is a huge gap... I need to work harder.’
Looking at the woman, Brandon’s gaze softened and he leaned forward to hug her "Charlotte, you are finally here..."
She already messaged him that she would come to France for a visit.
Charlotte stiffened slightly from the sudden hug before sighing and hugging him back.
’Why.. does this still feel so comforting?’
After finding out about the fracture in her soul, her split personality, she distanced herself from Brandon.
She knew Brandon was the trigger for her other two personalities, so she continued acting like she hated him and made him hate her so that her other personalities wouldn’t come out often.
But now... it’s all different.
He is again getting attached to her, and as his Big Sister, she is very happy.
But she is also scared of her other personality, because she doesn’t know what ’she’ will do.
The other personality... only cared for Brandon and no one else.
’She’ wouldn’t hesitate to hurt, maim, or kill anyone around him just to keep him "safe" in her twisted sense of devotion.
She knows that her other personality won’t hurt Brandon, but she might hurt the people close to him... because ’she’ only cares about Brandon.
Looking at him, she smiled faintly "...That was a good fight," she said softly, brushing her fingers lightly against a faint cut on his cheek.
"You just became a C-rank awakener... and you’re already killing B-rank aberrants. You’ve... grown so much."
Brandon’s smile widened slightly "Well, Naevora pushed me these past weeks. But still, I’ve got a long way to go before I can catch up to you."
Charlotte tilted her head slightly, her gaze softening further "Yeah..."
He grabbed her arm and pulled her "Come on, let’s go and eat now..."
Getting pulled by him, Charlotte blinked for a moment before letting him pull her "...Alright."
They exited the dungeon and reached the car standing outside.
The cool evening air brushed over Brandon’s bare skin as he pulled off his sweat-stained shirt, tossing it casually into the backseat of the car.
But as his shirt slipped from his shoulders, Charlotte’s steps faltered.
Looking at the jagged scar on his back, her gaze trembled.
For a moment, she didn’t see the strong young man standing before her.
She saw the boy from years ago, trembling and crying through the pain as his blood dripped onto the pavement.
"Big Sister... it hurts... it hurts..."
Her pupils quivered, faintly distorting for a second, and a flicker of blue threatened to seep through the green.
But she blinked quickly, steadying herself ’Is the third personality trying to take over?’
A faint blush appeared on her face ’No matter what, I will never let that third personality show in front of Brandon.’
If her second personality was born due to her obsession with protecting Brandon.
Her third personality was because of her own obsession with Brandon.
The third personality loves Brandon romantically... to death.
Brandon, oblivious to her internal turmoil, grabbed a clean shirt from the car and began pulling it on, and glanced over his shoulder casually.
"Charlotte? You okay?"
She froze and her lips parted slightly "...Ah."
Her gaze softened, but she masked it quickly with a faint smile "It’s nothing. Just... noticing you’ve grown a lot. That’s all."
Brandon chuckled, running a hand through his damp hair.
Charlotte’s eyes lingered on the faint ridges of the scar even as he covered it with his new shirt.
She remembered how, after that day, she swore she’d protect him.
"Charlotte?" Brandon tilted his head, noticing the faint distant look in her eyes.
She snapped out of it and nodded lightly, forcing a small smile "...Let’s go eat. You must be hungry after that fight."
Brandon grinned "Yeah. I’m starving. There’s a place nearby that Naevora recommended with good food. Let’s head there."
