Getting spoiled in a woman dominating world-Chapter 435: Against the Divine [6]
"...My Mother?"
Brandon turned his head and stared at the woman’s face in utter shock.
The black mist that had cloaked her began to reform, swirling upward like smoke.
It coiled around her features, reshaping the sharp, divine beauty of Azyrth into something softer.
And the face beneath was unmistakable.
Marzella Quillhart.
Elize’s entire body went rigid.
She clenched her fist so hard the knuckles cracked audibly, and the faint glow around her spatial aura flickered erratically.
"How dare you..."
She uttered in a cold voice
"...use Marzella’s body as your vessel to manifest your avatar."
She leaned down and grabbed Azyrth’s neck, squeezing her throat "HOW DARE YOU..."
The air around her warped violently as space itself buckled under the pressure of her emotional outburst.
The ground beneath Azyrth’s knees cracked as fine fractures raced outward.
Elize’s eyes blazed with anger "Leave for now. I will find you and kill you someday."
The dark mist around Azyrth exploded outward, spiraling into a black tornado that roared upward into the sky.
"ELIIIZABETHHHH FLEURRDYYYSS!!!"
It twisted and clawed at the air and then vanished completely, leaving only silence and falling snow.
And in the next instant-
A woman with long black hair stumbled backward, naked, into the snow.
Elize hurriedly picked her best friend’s body up in her arms "Marzella..."
She pressed two fingers to the side of Marzella’s neck, feeling for a pulse.
Elize’s hand trembled against warm skin.
"She is... alive."
Elize’s gaze quivered... confusion, grief, joy, and rage all crashing through her at once.
...because Marzella was dead 21 years ago.
How?
Brandon stood frozen, snow gathering on his shoulders, melting against the heat of his skin as he stared at the woman who had been dead his entire life.
"What... just happened?"
Elize controlled her emotions and turned back to look at Brandon "Seems like Marzella’s body is used by that woman Azyrth as a vessel so she can manifest her avatar in this world."
With a deep sigh, she muttered "Somehow, Marzella is still alive. I-I will take her back to a hospital because her body is unconscious."
"You guys take care of things here and return safely."
Before Brandon and Charlotte could say anything, Elize disappeared from there with Marzella’s body.
A slight frown appeared on Charlotte’s face, and she turned to look at Brandon, who was still reeling in shock.
"Kael..."
Brandon stumbled back and sat on the snow, looking at the space Elize just disappeared from.
"Mother."
Charlotte kneeled beside him and reached for his hand, her cold fingers finding his colder ones and lacing them together tightly.
---
Meanwhile, back near the bunker, time resumed and the wind howled back to life.
Snowflakes that had hung motionless resumed their lazy spiral downward.
Charlotte’s team members who had been frozen mid-motion staggered slightly as the temporal lock released them.
And at that time, they noticed the devastation around them.
The snow was gouged into deep furrows and craters and steam still rose from places where ether clashed with ice.
The clearing was empty where Brandon and Charlotte had stood only moments ago.
The lead operative squinted her eyes in thought "Lady Charlotte used her time skill," she said quietly. "And a huge fight happened here."
The others exchanged glances, a silent understanding passing between them as they all know about Charlotte’s skill.
"Ha...Hahahaha."
But suddenly, someone’s laughter broke the stillness.
Maevrith, who was still bound on her knees in the snow threw her head back and laughed.
"Hahahaha!"
"Where is she?" Maevrith gasped between cackles. "She’s dead, isn’t she? How can she stand against the DIVINITY?"
Her green eyes darted around the ruined clearing.
"HAHAHAHA!"
Seeing her mocking laugh, one of the team members stepped forward and kicked Maevrith’s face.
*THUD*
The kick connected with the side of Maevrith’s face.
Maevrith’s head snapped left, and blood sprayed from her split lip.
Her laughter choked off into a wet cough, but she still grinned through the pain.
"Just you wait," she rasped, as her tongue flicked over the blood on her teeth. "My Divinity will come here and kill you too."
"HAHAHAHA!"

At that exact moment, two figures landed in front of the group.
Charlotte and Brandon touched down in perfect unison as the ether residue faintly crackled around them.
Looking at them, Charlotte’s team smiled in relief.
"Lady Charlotte-"
"Little Boss-"
Maevrith’s laughter died instantly, and her eyes shrank in horror "Huh... how are you still alive?"
Charlotte stepped forward slowly, and her cigarette, which had fallen on the snow, levitated back into her hand.
She reversed the time on the cigarette, making it burn again and held it between her fingers.
She brought it to her lips and inhaled deeply.
She exhaled a long, slow plume of smoke that curled upward into the falling snow.
Maevrith stared with her mouth open in disbelief.
Charlotte’s eyes narrowed "Your divinity is already dead."
Upon hearing this, Maevrith’s body trembled, and she shook her head "That’s not possible... No. No. No. No. NO! NO!"
Charlotte glanced sideways at her team.
"Team," she said quietly, smoke drifting from her lips. "Seize the bunker and destroy."
"Yes, Lady Charlotte!"
Eight of them moved immediately, forming a tight wedge as they advanced toward the bunker entrance.
One woman stayed behind, and she stepped up beside Charlotte in silence.
Charlotte took another slow drag from the cigarette.
"You got some oil?" she asked the operative without turning.
The woman nodded her head "Yes, Lady Charlotte. We brought oil to burn the bunker."
Charlotte’s eyes narrowed further "Pour some on her."
The operative didn’t hesitate and took the canister from her storage bracelet.
She twisted the cap and began pouring the oil on Maevrith.
Clear liquid glugged out, splashing across Maevrith’s face and pooling in the snow around her knees.
Maevrith’s eyes widened in true terror "No... no, you can’t-"
Charlotte flicked the cigarette, and the ember arced through the air before landing on top of Maevrith.
The oil ignited with a soft *whoomph*.
Flames roared upward, engulfing Maevrith’s cloak, burning up her arms and her hair.
"GRAAAARGHHHHHH-" She screamed, her body convulsing against the zip ties.
Charlotte watched her burn, taking one last drag from the cigarette before flicking it away.
"AARGGGGGH!"
"RAAARGHH-"
"STOPPPAAARGHHHH!"
The flames grew, and Maevrith thrashed as her body was getting burned alive.
Charlotte exhaled the last lungful of smoke, a white plume curling upward, and then turned to the remaining operative.
"Make sure nothing survives," she said quietly.
"Yes, Lady Charlotte."
Charlotte looked down at Maevrith one last time "You should have stayed away from my family."
She turned around and saw Brandon sitting atop a boulder in the distance.
---
A deep sigh escaped Brandon’s lips and it grew into a thick white fog that drifted upward, mingling with the falling snow
He turned his head slightly and saw Charlotte sitting beside him.
She opened her arms, and he leaned into her, tucking his head under her chin while pressing his face into the crook of her neck.
Charlotte’s arms wrapped around him completely "I’ve got you."
He glanced up at her and looked into her yellow eyes "Char, your eyes... why are you not switching back to your ’first personality’ "
Upon hearing this, Charlotte’s eyes trembled and her gaze flickered nervously.
"That’s because in the earlier fight, ’her’ core... was destroyed."
"I-I am still me," she whispered. "Just... less of me than before."
