Getting Stronger By Fighting-Chapter 627 - 625: Unexpected Events_1
Since Wang Zhan and the others didn't know where the Seven-star Barrier mentioned by Luo Tianhong was, they had no choice but to quietly follow her. Perhaps because Wang Zhan's words had been rather harsh, Luo Tianhong didn't say much more on the journey, simply walking ahead to lead the way.
Half a day passed, and Wang Zhan and his team had arrived in a mountain forest. Looking around, they saw a lush jungle that resembled a primeval forest. But on the Star War Battlefield, any scenery was possible due to the existence of various interfaces, each with its unique environmental conditions, which accounted for many unusual sights.
However, one thing was certain: vigilance was key no matter where they were to ensure their safety.
Wang Zhan moved to the front of the group and spoke again, "When we enter this forest, stay alert at all times. Be very cautious. If there's a sudden emergency, remember to stand by my side as quickly as possible so I can protect you."
Although the other two's abilities were inferior, and Wang Zhan had not wanted to keep them around, they had insisted on staying. Given they were both younger than he was, it was only natural he should take on a big brother's responsibility.
Luo Tianhong, on the other hand, snappishly responded, "Why don't you instruct me too? I'm younger than they are, right? So, shouldn't I be the one most in need of protection?"
Wang Zhan paid no heed. Wouldn't Luo Tianhong be the person least in need of protection here?
"Don't worry; we don't need to go into this forest. Besides, I haven't explored it," Luo Tianhong said.
"I don't know where you've been looking. Didn't you see that the Seven-star Barrier is right in front of us?"
As Luo Tianhong slowly spoke, Wang Zhan and the others looked up. They noticed that not far ahead of them, giant pillars of light shot straight into the sky, surrounded by seven stones of different colors.
Even though Luo Tianhong did not say it, anyone could figure out that this must be the so-called Seven-star Barrier.
The moment they saw the Seven-star Barrier, Xiang Tian and the others quickly sped up. In the blink of an eye, Xiang Tian and Luo Xue had reached it. Wang Zhan stood a short distance away, his Deep Fire Blade already drawn. After all, they still didn't know the situation here. The closer they got, the stronger their sense of foreboding became, especially after getting a clear view of the Seven-star Barrier before them.
"How could I not have noticed this before? There's such a magical scene on this interface. I must admit, this barrier is quite beautiful."
Luo Xue, being a girl, was naturally curious about anything new. And indeed, the Seven-star Barrier was beautiful. From a distance, it resembled a castle crowned with colorful, flowing lights. Even Wang Zhan, upon seeing it, couldn't help but marvel at its wonder.
"This is nothing," Luo Tianhong shrugged, a disdainful expression on her face. "When you've spent more time with me, I'll show you even more beautiful things. You will discover just how wonderful the Star War Battlefield is and what its charm truly is."
It seemed as though she believed she was the only one who understood the true nature of the Star War Battlefield, while everyone else was completely ignorant.
Xiang Tian paid no attention to their conversation. He walked up to one of the giant light pillars and reached out his hand to touch it. Suddenly, Luo Tianhong's face turned pale. "Don't touch it!" she shouted.
Despite Luo Tianhong's timely warning, Xiang Tian had already extended his hand. Instantly, a ripple of energy spread out, and the light pillar began to tremble slightly. At that moment, Xiang Tian felt a tremendous force slam into his chest, sending him flying backward like a broken kite.
Despite wearing protective gear, Xiang Tian was still thrown a considerable distance by the energy ripple.
As soon as he hit the ground, Xiang Tian clutched his chest, and a mouthful of Fresh Blood spurted out.
Wang Zhan and Luo Xue quickly rushed over to him. Wang Zhan's eyes turned red as he grabbed Xiang Tian's arm and asked urgently, "Are you okay? Can you hold on?"
When they had left the fifth war zone, Xiang Zhanfei had repeatedly admonished Wang Zhan to take good care of Xiang Tian. Even though Wang Zhan wasn't obligated to do so, he had always considered Xiang Tian his brother and naturally couldn't bear to see him die before his eyes.
"Don't worry, I can hold on," Xiang Tian said, enduring the intense pain. Yet it was apparent to everyone what he was going through, as his complexion had turned as pale as paper.
From the side, Luo Tianhong walked towards Xiang Tian. She took out a Medicine Pill from her pocket and flung it in front of him. Arms crossed, she said, "I already told you all to act according to my intentions, but you just wouldn't listen. Look at you now, you nearly got yourself killed."
However, Wang Zhan and the others paid Luo Tianhong no mind. Wang Zhan casually picked up the Medicine Pill she had thrown, his gaze falling on Luo Tianhong as he asked, "What is this?"
"Naturally, it's something that can cure him," Luo Tianhong replied, her expression indifferent. "Of course, if you don't believe me, he doesn't have to take it. It's not like I care whether this fellow lives or dies."
She glanced at Wang Zhan before continuing, "My teammates must at least follow my arrangements. Only then can I protect you all. But since he failed to do that, why should I bother looking after him?"
"You…" Wang Zhan looked at Luo Tianhong. "Shut up! Can't you see how much pain Xiang Tian is in? If you continue babbling, we won't help you open the Seven-star Barrier, and you can forget about entering the ruins. Although I don't know what you hope to gain from inside, without our help, you won't even be able to get past this current barrier."
Wang Zhan knew he wasn't as strong as Luo Tianhong. However, he could see how much she valued whatever was inside the Seven-star Barrier. This was potentially good news for them. After all, opening the Seven-star Barrier would not be easy; it required the combined efforts of several people. This gave them some leverage over Luo Tianhong.
Unexpectedly, Luo Tianhong simply shrugged her shoulders. "You don't actually think I'm only interested in what's inside this particular Seven-star Barrier, do you?" she said.
"Let me tell you, I've been on this interface for many years. Naturally, I have a grasp of everything here. So, even if I can't get what's inside the Seven-star Barrier, so what? As long as I can claim everything else in the other ruins here for myself, I won't need to stay any longer."
Wang Zhan didn't respond to Luo Tianhong's words. Instead, he helped Xiang Tian to a safer spot to rest, with Luo Xue staying by his side to take care of him.
Once everything was arranged, Wang Zhan approached Luo Tianhong. "You've been here before and have stayed on this interface for many years," he said. "Does that mean you don't have any friends, or anyone willing to help you open this barrier? Am I right?"
Luo Tianhong crossed her arms, maintaining her usual arrogant demeanor. "You're partially right. I indeed don't have any friends. But you're not entirely correct either," she said. "I simply haven't found anyone I can trust. It's your good luck that I've taken an interest in you, so you should count yourself fortunate."
"After all, if you're useful to me, it's also beneficial for you. Once you no longer hold any value to me, you won't even have the privilege of standing by my side."
It had to be said that Luo Tianhong spoke bluntly, but Wang Zhan understood that well. The relationship between people is nothing more than mutual exploitation, especially here on the Star War Battlefield. It's a dog-eat-dog world.
"Rest assured," Wang Zhan said, "I still need to protect these two by my side. So, even if there's something inside that I covet, I won't fight you for it. But don't forget what you promised. If there's no benefit in this for us, then even if I have to risk my life, I won't let you have an easy time of it."
They had endured great hardships to get here, and now Xiang Tian was injured. If this venture couldn't help them improve their cultivation, even Wang Zhan would feel it was a bitter outcome.
However, Luo Tianhong casually walked up to Wang Zhan, her eyes narrowing. "I really don't know where you get the audacity to speak to me like that," she said. "Even if I stood right here and let you try, do you think you're even capable of killing me?"
"Perhaps not now," Wang Zhan replied, his gaze unwavering. He clutched his Deep Fire Blade, his eyes fixed on Luo Tianhong with cold indifference. "But who knows what the future holds? The road ahead is long, and I've only just set foot on the Star War Battlefield. Don't forget a simple truth: everyone has a period of growth. And don't press your advantage too hard when you have it, because the wheel of fortune may one day turn."
"Very well," Luo Tianhong said. "I'll be waiting for that day to come."
