Giant Dragon Lord: Starting from Daily Intelligence-Chapter 215 - 209: Blue Dragon vs. Thunderboltous Giant Eel
The great army departed from Wind Cry Plain, slithering like a giant python into the hills that bordered the Nu River.
The desolate air of Wind Cry Plain was left behind, replaced by the humid, earthy scent of the riverlands.
It was the flood season for the Nu River. The water was wide and the current swift, its murky waves crashing against the shoreline reefs with a dull roar.
The marching column stretched for miles. An army of over ten thousand strong, along with thousands of warhorses, Pegasi, and various Magical Beast mounts, kicked up a towering cloud of dust.
Raylo rode on Baofeng’s back, gliding steadily hundreds of meters above the column.
From his high vantage point, his gaze swept over his troops below.
After its expansion and re-equipping, the Black Stone Territory’s formation was particularly conspicuous within the Allied Army.
The pure white square formation of over two hundred Pegasus Knights gleamed in the sunlight, looking like a flowing cloud.
Suddenly, Moonlight let out a low, questioning whimper.
At almost the same instant, Raylo felt it too.
The ground was trembling faintly. It wasn’t the rhythmic vibration of ten thousand galloping horses, but a dull, chaotic thrumming from deep within the earth.
A faint, oppressive feeling hung in the air, like the calm before a thunderstorm, as wild traces of Magic Elements began to stir.
"All troops, on alert!"
From the front of the column, Commander Luke’s powerful voice boomed like a clap of thunder.
The Iron Blood Knight’s reaction was astonishingly fast; he issued the command the very instant the anomaly appeared.
The army’s advance came to a sudden halt. The well-trained soldiers quickly formed defensive formations, their eyes scanning their surroundings warily.
In the sky, the Griffin Knights and Pegasus Knights gained altitude and began to circle.
Raylo urged Baofeng to climb higher, and his field of vision widened accordingly.
He finally saw the source of the disturbance.
Several kilometers downstream, a section of the Nu River was the stage for a war beyond imagination.
The river seemed to be boiling. Monstrous waves surged, crashing against the banks and churning up mountains of white foam.
A colossal blue figure, taking up nearly half the river’s width, was churning up colossal waves.
It was a dragon—a giant Blue Dragon whose body exceeded two hundred meters in length.
Its scales, like the purest of Sapphires, glittered dazzlingly in the Sun. Every sweep of its Dragon Tail could raise a wave comparable to a tsunami.
At its command, tens of thousands of bizarrely shaped Aquatic Magical Beasts had formed a vast legion and were surging downstream.
There were giant Cannibal Fish the size of small boats, their mouths filled with razor-sharp teeth. There were deep-water crabs wielding massive iron pincers, their backs bearing rock-like shells. And there were countless venomous water snakes, as agile as whips, throwing the entire river into chaos.
But the force opposing them was not to be underestimated.
Thick bolts of purple Lightning erupted from beneath the surface, bathing the murky water in an eerie glow.
A Thunderboltous Giant Eel, its length likely rivaling that of the Blue Dragon, was coiled in the center of the river channel.
Its body was a deep, blackish-purple, its skin covered in natural, golden thunder patterns. With every writhe of its body, countless arcs of electricity exploded through the water, charring any nearby monsters to a crisp.
Surrounding it were countless smaller electric eels and a species of strange, single-horned fish capable of unleashing Chain Lightning. Together, they formed a deadly Thunder Net.
"It’s the ’Deep Blue Dominator’ from the upper Nu River and the ’Thunderbolt King’ from the middle."
Luke’s voice drifted up, tinged with gravity.
"I never expected them to go to war right now."
"Those two have been fighting for control of the Nu River for over a hundred years."
Luke continued.
"Every one of their great wars turns the Nu River red with blood. Relay my command! All troops fall back two miles, away from the riverbank! We’re taking a detour. Do not get involved in a war between monsters of this level."
"Yes, sir!"
The commanders of the various units responded at once.
The army receded like the tide, turning in an orderly fashion to begin their detour through the more distant hills.
To these battle-hardened soldiers, wars between men were already brutal enough. To deliberately provoke two King Level Magical Beast overlords was nothing short of suicide.
Raylo, however, did not immediately follow.
He hovered in the air, his gaze captivated by the earth-shattering battle below.
This wasn’t a human war of formations and coordination.
This was a primal, savage, and pure collision of Power against Power.
The Blue Dragon opened its massive maw, and a freezing Dragon Breath mixed with ice crystals erupted forth, instantly flash-freezing a hundred-meter-wide stretch of the river.
Countless followers of the Thunderboltous Giant Eel were sealed within the thick sheet of ice, unable to move a muscle.
Then, the Blue Dragon whipped its massive Dragon Tail around, smashing it into the ice like a Siege Hammer. The ice sheet—and the Magical Beasts trapped within—shattered into countless fragments.
Not to be outdone, the Thunderboltous Giant Eel let out a silent roar as every golden thunder pattern on its enormous body lit up simultaneously.
The next second, a purple Thunder Pillar, thick as an instrument of Divine Punishment, shot skyward and struck the Blue Dragon squarely on its back.
"ROOOOAR!"
A deafening dragon’s cry shook the heavens and the earth. Writhing in pain, the Blue Dragon’s enormous body thrashed violently. The waves it kicked up surged over the hundred-meter-high riverbanks, wiping out entire swathes of forest.
A few blue scales, each the size of a washbasin, broke loose and sank to the river bottom, trailing plumes of blood.
Raylo watched, his spirit trembling.
’Is this the power of a top-tier Magical Beast?’
’Every casual movement creates a scene of natural disaster.’
’Compared to this, the power of humanity seems so insignificant before such pure, immense might.’
’These two Magical Beasts... they must both be at the Tier Five Peak Level.’
The battle below had reached a fever pitch.
The two armies of retainers tore at each other in a frenzy. With every passing second, hundreds, even thousands of lives were extinguished.
The river was no longer murky, but had turned a deep, dark red. The thick stench of blood was so strong it could be clearly smelled even from a thousand meters in the air.
Severed limbs, shattered Scale Armor, and the corpses of Magical Beasts floated downstream, transforming this river of life into a River of Death.
The Blue Dragon and the Thunderboltous Giant Eel were now in a killing frenzy. They abandoned their long-range Magic barrages and resorted to the most primal form of combat.
Their massive bodies coiled around each other, talons ripping at flesh and teeth gnawing on hardened Scale Armor.
Every impact made the very earth tremble.
The powers of Lightning and Frost exploded in a mad frenzy at the center of their struggle, creating a deathly Domain that no living creature could approach.
The battle raged for a full two hours.
As the Sun dipped westward, casting its golden afterglow on the blood-red surface of the river, the sounds of battle finally began to fade.
There was no victor. Both Giant Beasts, grievously wounded, sank into the depths of the Nu River and vanished from sight.
A dead silence fell over the Nu River.
Only the blood-red water, carrying countless floating corpses, flowed silently eastward.
Raylo slowly exhaled, the shock in his heart taking a long time to subside.
’This is the Law of nature—cruel and direct.’
’In comparison, the so-called ancient feuds and conquests between human Kingdoms seem to follow the very same principle.’
He glanced toward the hills where the army had disappeared, and lingered no longer.
"Baofeng, let’s go. We need to catch up to the main army."
"KREEE!"
The Storm Griffin King let out a clear, piercing cry. With a powerful flap of its wings, it transformed into a streak of yellowish-brown light, racing in the direction the army had gone. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
They drew closer and closer to the main battlefield.
Small-scale skirmishes between their own Scouts and the reconnaissance cavalry of the Fiery Sun Kingdom broke out from time to time. The scent of war in the air grew stronger with each passing day.
Everyone knew they were approaching the giant meat grinder that would decide the fate of two Kingdoms.
