Glamour and Sass: A Rejected Bride's Revenge-Chapter 62: Mitchell’s Business
Chapter 62: Mitchell’s Business
Everyone looked toward the direction of the voice and saw a stern face—it was Steven.
Steven stepped forward and looked at James and Elena.
"Mr. Mitchell, I want to take your goods. The Lawrence family has many construction sites that currently need building materials. We will need to rely on your help."
James nodded. Ever since Marianne fell ill, they had not imposed much on Steven. Moreover, Nathan was always the one who had been providing the Lawrence family’s building materials, so they naturally did not interfere. However, Steven bringing it up here meant he had already thought through handling his family affairs, so there was no need to be reserved anymore.
"No problem. We will give you the lowest price."
Steven nodded back. James was correct; Steven’s move was partly to help him out and partly because he was prepared to assume Nathan’s authority.
Nathan had been cutting corners with the materials for a while, and Steven had long wanted to reprimand him.
Steven glanced at Warner, his impatience evident.
"Do you have any more questions?"
Although his business had a slight improvement now, Warner still didn’t have the guts to be overly presumptuous in front of Steven and responded with a fake smile.
"No questions at all. I’ll follow whatever you say, Mr. Lawrence."
Then, feeling the pain from where he had fallen earlier, he rubbed his back and muttered bitterly to Cecilia.
"So what if someone wants your materials? No workers are willing to go to your company now. Without workers, even if you have a hundred factories, you can’t make anything!"
Upon hearing this, both Elena and James fell into worry again.
He was right. If the occupational disease issue wasn’t resolved, none of the workers would still be willing to work. It was indeed a big problem.
While they were deep in thought, Cecilia nonchalantly said, "The special medicine will be ready soon; there’s no need for your concern."
Then, she turned to Steven.
"Oh, and thank you for your offer, Mr. Lawrence. But business is business, and we still need to discuss the pricing and process for the building materials."
The Mitchell family was already facing financial strain due to this setback. Selling materials to Steven at a minimum price might result in three years of wasted effort. Why bother doing that? After all, she had a solution for the occupational disease issue.
Elena and James were shocked, wondering why Cecilia had started talking nonsense.
A hint of surprise flashed in Steven’s eyes. While he acknowledged Cecilia’s capabilities, the issues plaguing the Mitchell family for decades—occupational diseases and material backlog—could not be resolved with just mere words. She seemed to be going overboard with her claims!
Elena gently pulled Cecilia aside and asked, "Since when was our special medicine developed?"
Cecilia smiled.
"It’s the same medicine I used last time to treat your illness."
That medicine was indeed effective, but its further development required time and, crucially, a significant amount of money. The financial turnover during this period was vital...
Steven raised an eyebrow.
"Miss Morrison, you might not be fully aware of the domestic situation. I’m inclined to follow the market rigorously in purchasing Mr. Mitchell’s materials, so there was no need to mention that...
"But you really spoke boldly—if this delays the Mitchell family’s funds, I’m not sure if you can bear the consequences of it."
Even Zane, who had been observing on the sidelines, couldn’t help but complain, “Exactly. Our Mr. Lawrence is helping you, Miss Morrison, yet your attitude...”
James nodded.
"Cecilia just returned to the country and isn’t familiar with many things. She doesn’t have any bad intentions. We have no problems cooperating with the Lawrence family. As for the workers, I’ll resolve the problem as soon as possible..."
Warner, watching the spectacle, sneered.
"Resolve it? These issues have been unresolved for decades, and you expect them to be sorted within a few days? You truly live up to your family name—so fond of big talk!"
Cecilia lifted her foot, deliberately startling Warner, who quickly hid behind his assistant.
Then, she confidently stated, "No need to wait for a few days; I can resolve this matter by today!"
