"Get ready to fight! Don’t hesitate... They’re not going to listen to you." Kai reminded everyone as he brought the group to the window and watched the enemies approach.

Thankfully, all of them knew that they could not risk their own lives saving those strangers.

Suddenly, Kai noticed that the ones carrying guns raised their weapons!

Without hesitation, he also gave his command!

"Open fire!"

The survivors raised their revolvers, and just like that, the gunshots echoed through the compound!

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Muzzle flashes lit the night as bullets tore into the advancing line of the listless or controlled humans.

Thud! Thud! Thud!

The first wave or those humans in front fell quickly... Their crude blades and scavenged clubs were no match for disciplined volleys of gunfire.

It was not comparable at all.

Yet those who weren’t heavily injured and could still move just pressed forward without hesitation!

Kai’s heart tightened as he spotted Samantha among them.

He had hoped, for a fleeting moment, that she might resist the control, that some spark of her old desperation and humanity would remain. But there was nothing. She was gone... although not dead, but enslaved, since her will was stripped away.

"Target them all!" Kai said, forcing himself to stay cold. "No hesitation!"

Well, he could probably order them to just subdue these underequipped people.

However, doing so could put those on his side at risk of injury.

He couldn’t just let those who trusted him get hurt. That would be the dumbest thing to do!

Samantha had her chance after he trusted her to join this raid.

However, because of her bad decisions, it ended up like this...

Soon, the survivors fired once again!

At this point, even Samantha staggered as a bullet struck her shoulder, yet she kept advancing with blade raised! They were like Zombies at this point!

Still, another shot hit her chest, and she collapsed to the ground, motionless. Kai exhaled as he noticed this...

In the end, Samantha remained under control by the enemy. Even after she got shot multiple times, she didn’t wake up at all. Whatever was controlling her, it seemed that it was something that could never be released through normal means.

"What a strong ability... Is this a Legendary Talent? Or maybe another triple S?" Kai frowned at this thought.

They didn’t even know how the mind‑control worked... If it was done through a parasite, brainwashing, or some other Talent.

All they knew was that these people were enemies now, and hesitation meant death.

Russel reloaded quickly.

"There’s more coming! But they’re just humans! Keep your distance!"

Soon, grenades were thrown as smoke filled the courtyard, obscuring the survivors’ positions.

After all, they had no idea about the clear number of the enemies!

"I thought there was a limit to the number of people he can control? Is he actually just hiding the real limit?" Kai was confused.

According to Russel’s observations, the man should only be able to control 10 or so humans. However, it was clearly different now since they had already eliminated at least 20 people!

But there were still more than 20 people outside!

’Just where is he getting all these poor people?!’ Kai was confused. However, he also realized that there must be nearby shelters around

Still, he had to continue moving!

The strike team used their camouflage suits to blend into the shadows, firing from cover while the mind-controlled Survivors charged blindly forward.

But the few who were carrying rifles managed to return fire!

She met his gaze and nodded. "He must be watching then."

Kai smiled... "That’s right... So we have to find this person."

Leaving Russel and Ralph to command the survivors, Kai and Claire slipped away from the main fight.

Their camouflage suits blended with the night and they moved silently. They circled the battlefield, using the chaos as cover.

Just like that, gunfire and screams masked their footsteps as they crept along the perimeter.

"He won’t be far. He definitely needs to see them, to control them." Claire whispered.

Kai agreed. His Keen Senses picked up faint vibrations around him and soon, he sensed a heartbeat...

It was steady and calm, unlike the frantic rhythm of battle. Someone was standing still, observing!

"Follow me..."

They moved closer, beyond the collapsed outpost...

’He’s here...’

Kai finally spotted him.

A lone figure was watching the slaughter silently... His eyes were glowing red and seemed unbothered by their obvious presence!

Without a doubt, this person was the mastermind.

Kai froze for a moment... Then, he raised his pistol!

They had to eliminate this person!

He steadied his aim, but before he could fire, the figure smirked!

In an instant, his body split... not into smoke or illusion, but into perfect duplicates.

Two, then four, identical versions of the mastermind stepped forward from the rubble!

Claire was shocked. "What? He even has that ability? Clones... He’s multiplying himself!"
