GLOBAL AWAKENING: My 10,000x Exp Multiplier-Chapter 30: []The 15th Floor Gatekeeper, A Breath of Crystals
The Mist Wraiths shrieked, diving toward the cave entrance in a massive, swirling tidal wave of deadly wind and gray fog.
"System," Vahn commanded, his voice echoing with absolute dominion. "Engage[Inferno Nova]. Limit the output. Toggle: [Sun-Aura]. Radius: Three meters."
A blinding, pristine ring of pure white plasma erupted from Vahn’s boots, creating a perfect, impenetrable dome of heat around the party. The Wraiths crashed into the aura. Because they were made of pure energy, the catastrophic heat of the dying star didn’t just burn them; it instantly melted their foundational code, reducing the terrifying monsters to harmless, floating orbs of raw, blue experience points.
"Now," Vahn murmured, placing his hand flat against the scorching surface of the Devouring Egg. "Eat."
He aggressively channeled the massive influx of EXP directly into the egg. The crimson scales began to glow with a blinding, violent light. The egg didn’t just absorb the data; it aggressively inhaled it, pulling the blue experience points from the air like a black hole.
The thousands of Wraiths outside continued to mindlessly crash into the Sun-Aura, melting instantly and feeding the rapidly expanding hunger of the egg.
Crack.
A deep, resonant fracture spider-webbed across the crimson shell.
CRACK.
With a localized explosion of golden light and intense heat, the Devouring Egg shattered. Vahn canceled his Sun-Aura, the blinding plasma fading away to reveal the entity standing in the center of the shattered shell.
It wasn’t a dragon. It was a girl.
She looked no older than fourteen, possessing wild, untamed waist-length crimson hair and glowing gold eyes with sharp, reptilian slit pupils. Small, jagged obsidian horns curled from her forehead, and shimmering red scales traced the sides of her neck and her lower arms. She wore a simple, tattered tunic woven from her own shell’s membrane, and she radiated the terrifying, unadulterated aura of an apex predator.
Kora. The Devouring Dragon.
She blinked her glowing gold eyes, looking around the cavern. She ignored Aria and Sia entirely. Her gaze locked instantly onto Vahn. She didn’t hesitate. She moved with a blur of speed that rivaled Vahn’s own Agility, launching herself forward and wrapping her arms around his waist.
"Mine," Kora announced, her voice carrying a strange, telepathic echo that vibrated directly in their minds. She rubbed her cheek possessively against Vahn’s jacket, glaring fiercely at Aria. "My Hoard. My Master."
Aria’s jaw dropped in absolute shock. "Vahn... did you just hatch a child? A highly aggressive, territorial child?!"
"She is a Mythic-tier companion," Vahn corrected mildly, entirely unbothered by the feral dragon-girl currently clinging to him like a limpet. He gently patted Kora’s crimson hair. "Her behavioral algorithms are based on draconic hoarding instincts. She views me as her most valuable asset."
Kora turned her head toward the cave entrance. A dozen Mist Wraiths had survived the initial purge and were slowly drifting into the cavern, their scythes raised.
Kora’s gold eyes narrowed. She didn’t cast a spell. She simply opened her mouth and inhaled sharply.
The air warped. A localized vortex of pure gravitational force erupted from her jaws. The remaining Mist Wraiths shrieked in terror as they were violently sucked through the air, their digital forms compressing until they were swallowed whole by the tiny dragon-girl.
Kora closed her mouth, chewing thoughtfully for a second before swallowing. She let out a small, highly satisfied burp, releasing a tiny puff of golden Primal Energy into the air.
She looked up at Vahn, her slit pupils wide with expectation.
"More," Kora demanded, her telepathic voice ringing with sassy entitlement. "Snacks."
Vahn let out a loud, genuine laugh. He looked at Aria, who was staring at the girl in sheer, unfiltered disbelief, and Sia, who was looking at Kora as if trying to calculate if she needed to fight a dragon for the Vanguard’s position.
"I think she’s going to fit in perfectly," Vahn smiled, his purple eyes gleaming. "Come on, team. Let’s go feed the dragon."
__
The 15th floor of the Chronos Spire was heavily industrialized, featuring massive, floating metallic platforms connected by glowing light-bridges. It was the designated threshold separating the ’lower-tier’ beginners from the true mid-game elites. Because of its strategic importance, the primary transit gate had been completely locked down.
Vahn Ryker and his incredibly chaotic party approached the massive, gilded archway of the transition matrix.
The area was swarming with players, most of them sitting on the metallic floor in utter defeat. Blocking the gate was a highly militarized checkpoint operated by the "Golden Dragon Guild," one of the premier corporate factions that dominated the server’s economy.
Standing at the front of the barricade was Guild Leader Zhao. He was a tall, excessively arrogant man draped in an absurdly flashy set of Platinum-Tier armor that glowed with a continuous, obnoxious golden aura. He held a massive halberd resting lazily on his shoulder, his face twisted into a permanent, condescending sneer.
"Next!" Zhao barked, his voice amplified by a local wind spell.
Vahn walked forward casually, his hands in the pockets of his cheap academy jacket. Kora, the feral dragon-girl, was walking right beside him, her small hand tightly gripping the fabric of his sleeve as she glared suspiciously at the surrounding crowd. Aria and Sia flanked him, their Legendary-tier auras completely suppressed to look like standard, unremarkable gear.
Zhao looked down at Vahn, taking in the brown, completely unarmored tunic. He let out a harsh, barking laugh.
"Are you lost, commoner?" Zhao sneered, pointing his halberd at Vahn’s chest. "This is the 15th floor. The mud-farms are back down on level three. If you want to pass this gate, the Transit Tax is one hundred thousand credits. Real-world currency. Pay up, or go back to chopping wood."
Vahn didn’t even blink. "A toll," he observed dryly, his voice carrying effortlessly over the ambient noise. "You are utilizing fifty high-level vanguards to extort pocket change from independent players. It is a staggering display of localized inefficiency."
Zhao’s face flushed a deep, ugly red. "Watch your mouth, data dross. I own this gate. I dictate the rules." Zhao’s eyes drifted past Vahn, locking onto Aria and Sia. A sleazy, deeply unpleasant smile spread across his face. "Though, if you don’t have the credits, I suppose your little party members could work off the debt. The Priestess looks like she knows how to serve tea."
Sia instantly drew her secondary blade, her silver-grey eyes flashing with absolute, murderous intent. "Commander. Requesting permission to sever the target’s vocal cords."
Kora hissed violently, a tiny wisp of golden flame escaping her lips. Trash, her telepathic voice echoed in Vahn’s mind. Can I eat the shiny trash, Master?
Vahn reached out, gently placing a hand on Kora’s head to calm her down, and raised a finger to halt Sia. He didn’t look angry. In fact, he looked profoundly, terrifyingly amused.
"You know, Zhao," Vahn said smoothly, stepping directly into the Guild Leader’s personal space. He didn’t draw a weapon. He didn’t adopt a combat stance. "The problem with relying entirely on heavily plated armor and numerical stat advantages is that you forget the absolute basics of human biology. For example, you forget how to breathe."
Zhao frowned, genuinely confused. "What the hell are you babbling about, you crazy peasant? Guards! Throw this idiot off the edge!"
Vahn’s deep purple eyes suddenly flared with an intense, blinding azure light. The[Verdant Chronos-Sight] engaged, immediately followed by the activation of his Mythic-tier control skill.
’System,’ Vahn commanded internally, his authority seizing control of the localized rendering engine. ’Activate [Architect’s Domain]. Radius: Five meters. Target: Ambient Oxygen. Override chemical structure. Convert to Solid Mana Crystals.’
[Ding! Architect Permission Granted. Localized environment modified.]
The effect was instantaneous and absolutely horrifying.
Zhao and the six heavily armored guards standing closest to him suddenly stopped moving. The arrogant sneer vanished from Zhao’s face, replaced by a look of sheer, unadulterated panic. He dropped his massive halberd, both of his hands flying to his throat.
He couldn’t breathe.
Every time they tried to inhale, the oxygen entering their lungs violently crystallized. Faint, glittering blue dust began to spill from their lips as they coughed, their bodies fighting a losing battle against a localized rewrite of physics. They were drowning on dry land.
Zhao fell to his knees, his Platinum-Tier armor clanking heavily against the metallic floor. He looked up at Vahn, his eyes wide and bulging. He saw the glowing green circuit lines mapping across Vahn’s irises, and realization struck him like a physical blow.
The forums had been screaming about a monster in the lower floors. A player with green eyes who deleted spells and completely ignored the game’s mechanics. The Tutorial Ghost.
"P-Please," Zhao choked out, blood and blue crystals leaking from the corner of his mouth as his health bar rapidly plummeted into the critical red zone.
The entire plaza was dead silent. Hundreds of players watched in sheer terror as a man in a cheap brown jacket casually choked out one of the most powerful Guild Leaders on the server without even moving a muscle.
Vahn looked down at Zhao, his expression the perfect picture of cold, detached curiosity. He wasn’t doing this out of anger. He was simply proving a mathematical point.
Right as Zhao’s health bar hit one percent, Vahn snapped his fingers.
The[Architect’s Domain] deactivated. The oxygen returned to normal. The crystals dissolved into harmless air.
Zhao collapsed onto the floor, gasping frantically, violently sucking air into his burning lungs. His guards were in similar states of ruin, completely paralyzed by the lingering shock of systemic suffocation.
Vahn casually stepped over Zhao’s gasping form, leading his party toward the glowing threshold of the 15th-floor gate. He didn’t look back. He simply offered a final, parting observation to the shattered elites behind him.
"The Spire does not belong to the rich, Zhao," Vahn stated cleanly, his voice carrying the heavy, undeniable weight of a prophecy. "It belongs to the fast. And you are all moving entirely too slow."
Without waiting for a response, Vahn Ryker and his team stepped through the matrix, leaving the Golden Dragon Guild broken in the dust.
