Chapter 57: [57]Force of the Void, The Ten Billion Conversion

The Hidden Laboratory was deep beneath the university ruins. It was much different from the messy magic on the surface. Vahn Ryker and Aria walked through the heavy blast doors. Inside, the facility was made of clean white metal and floating screens. The air was cold and sterile. It felt like a place where a powerful civilization looked at planets like they were just numbers in a computer.

"This does not look like the Spire," Aria whispered. Her voice echoed in the big room. She stayed very close to Vahn. Her green eyes watched the binary code falling down the walls like a digital waterfall. "It is too clean. It looks like it was engineered by something else."

"The Spire was just a simulation to get humans ready," Vahn said. His purple eyes looked around the room. He used his Chronos-Sight to see the hidden files and codes of the building. "This is the real heart of the Galactic Arena. This is the root directory of the Alien AI."

He walked to the middle of the room. There was a huge glass cylinder there. It was not filled with water. It was filled with a bright blue light. The energy was so thick that it made the air look wavy.

"Look at that," Aria said as she stepped next to him. She almost touched the glass. "The mana coming off this is huge. What is it?"

"It is a Data Reservoir," Vahn said. He looked very serious. He put his hand on the glass. "When the Spire took over the city, it stole the energy from the planet. This battery is for the next part of the game. It has ten billion experience points inside."

Aria gasped and her jaw dropped. Ten billion! That was a number that should not be possible. Usually, fifty top players would have to grind for a whole month just to get one million EXP. Having ten billion was like having the power of a god.

"I am going to take it," Vahn said. He looked at her. He was not acting like a teasing older brother anymore. Now he looked like a cold Administrator. "Earth needs to survive. My body is not strong enough yet. I need a massive mutation."

"No, Vahn! You are only a Level 1 Architect. Your body is too weak! If you try to eat ten billion points at once, your mind will break. You will be deleted forever!"

Vahn looked at her hands pressed against his chest. He looked at the genuine panic in her eyes.

"Ten billion points. I am strong enough to do this even in my sleep," he thought. He glanced at her worried face. "But she does not need to know that right now. Does she? 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚

He looked at her hands still pressed against his chest.

"No. Definitely not," he decided.

"I know it is dangerous," Vahn said softly. He did not move her hands. He stepped closer to her. Aria felt a spark of electricity go up her spine because they were so close. "That is why you are here. My brain can handle the data, but my body will get too hot. I need you to be my heat sink. You have to keep me from breaking apart."

She took a breath. Her chest moved up and down under her clothes. "If you die, I will be very angry with you, Vahn Ryker."

"I understand," Vahn smiled a little bit.

"Do it," Aria said. She wrapped her arms around his waist. she pressed her body against him. Her red robes started to glow with a bright light. She used all her healing magic. A pink and gold light covered Vahn. It smelled like flowers.

Vahn closed his eyes and leaned into her. He pointed his right hand at the cylinder. "System. Target: Data Reservoir. Start Soul Siphoning. Turn off all safety limits."

The glass exploded!

A huge wave of blue energy roared into the room. It flew right into Vahn’s hand. The force was so strong that the metal walls started to bend. Vahn hissed in pain. Ten billion points were forcing their way into his veins.

His skin started to crack. A purple light came out of the cracks. His body was starting to fall apart. But Aria held him even tighter. She poured her magic into him to fix his body every time it broke. She was the only thing keeping him alive.

For thirty seconds, the room was a storm of blue and gold. Then, the blue light was gone.

Vahn fell to his knees. Aria fell with him. He was sweating and shaking. But he was still alive.

"You did it," Aria breathed. She touched his face and shoulders to check him. She did not even realize she was sitting on his lap on the floor. "You are okay."

Vahn looked down at her hands on his face.

Then at her sitting on his lap. Then back at her face.

"She really does find the most creative reasons for physical contact," he thought. A smile tugged at the corner of his mouth.

"Because you helped me," Vahn whispered. He grabbed her hand and kissed it. Aria turned as red as a tomato, but she did not move away.

Vahn took a deep breath. His purple eyes turned bright blue. He looked at his system screen. The ten billion points were waiting for him.

"System," Vahn thought. "Put all ten billion points into my Strength stat. Force a mutation."

[Ding! 10,000,000,000 EXP Consumed.]

[Warning: Structural evolution starting.]

[Base Strength has mutated into: Force of the Void!]

[Effect: Your punches now ignore 50% of all armor and defense.]

Vahn stood up and helped Aria. He moved his hand. He did not just feel strong. He felt like a monster.

He looked at the huge titanium door at the end of the lab. It was built to stop bombs. Vahn did not use a skill. He just walked up and punched the metal.

There was no loud noise. The Force of the Void went right through the metal. The massive door crumpled like paper. It flew off its hinges and crashed down the hall.

Vahn looked at his fist. He had a scary smirk on his face. He looked at Aria. She was staring at the broken door with a broken expression.
