Global Disaster: I Will Slay Gods In This Second Chance!-Chapter 37: April’s News
April 25, 2025.
Almost a month has passed since the First Era Ending Calamity.
Despite this being a short time, the calamity had already been buried deep inside people’s memories.
Awakened talents, monsters, and new professions became the focal point of everybody’s lives.
As a result, adapting to the changes brought by the calamity became the sole priority for most.
Finding jobs, exploring talents, and looking for ways to rise in life became the most popular topics online.
In the wake of every nation’s new policies, people had already sensed that the world was slowly transitioning to favor those with special and strong talents.
As long as you awakened a useful talent, nations and companies would compete for you, allowing you to rise up in life instantly.
But if there were those who shone brightly, then there were those who remained in the dark.
Not all that survived awakened a useful talent.
These people remained ordinary, forced back to their mediocre lives.
Unable to rise, they have no choice but to continue scraping by paycheck to paycheck, forced to watch others become Heroes while they remain confined to their desks.
It was a bitter pill to swallow, but they were already ordinary anyway—so while there was lingering regret, it was overshadowed by the numbness of life.
However, these people would soon discover a cruel truth, one that the world desperately tries to conceal.
In a society ruled by strength, remaining ordinary was nothing less than a death sentence.
It wasn’t like before, which at least offered a basic life; this time, a person’s strength was equivalent to their right to live.
But those who realized this truth felt even more powerless.
No matter what era, one truth will remain.
The world will keep moving forward, regardless of the thoughts of the lower class.
Since April has started, a lot of changes have happened throughout the world.
On April 10, 2025, Kremlov lifted its lockdown period, becoming the last country to do so.
They also announced their decision to join the Global Summit, creating even more anticipation for the eventual world meeting.
On April 11, 2025, Crownreach had formed the Mage Association, a sub-organization under the Awakener’s Association.
The Mage Association was led by an Aurelius woman with silver hair, calling herself the Silver Witch.
After establishing, they began extending invitations to people with unique supernatural talents across the world.
On April 13, 2025, Liberty established its brand new Superhero society, with a man named Michael Reegan leading the forefront of the change.
On April 15, 2025, Oseania heralded their very first Matriarch in a hundred years, the separated tribes uniting once more for the sake of survival.
Led by the Sky Matriarch, they managed to pave a way to survival despite being surrounded by Tier III Beasts.
On April 17, 2025, Maria Auburn established the New Era Guild, becoming the first to introduce the guild system to the world.
She also led the very first live expedition in the world, gathering Awakeners of Lunaria to clear monsters in an intermediate-risk area.
Their expedition was a massive success, having zero casualties.
Maria’s active leadership also opened up a new profession to people in Lunaria, using a term she had proposed: "Hunters".
Hunters, those whose duty was to hunt for monsters in the world.
Finding her idea to be brilliant, many nations followed suit: Goryeon, Niwaria, Rhinehold, Aridia, Kremlov...
But there were also nations that differed.
The most obvious one, Liberty established "Heroes" as a profession before others, turning Awakeners into superstars.
Meanwhile, Nihono instead referred to its combat awakeners as "Demon Hunters" due to the unique environment of their nation.
This showed that different nations had different ways of adapting to the circumstances.
The world was a circle, and not a straight line.
There was no single right answer.
However, all of these changes ultimately led to one truth—
The world was in a completely new era from before.
On the internet, the forums were incredibly active.
In the Global Forums, headlines appeared.
"Kremlov’s legend: a 7’8 giant man that ate five-meter-tall bears for breakfast!"
"New Era Guild has begun its recruitment in Lunaria, prioritizing those who have specialized talents!"
"Michael Reegan, the Superhero known as Beyond, has formed a team called the New World Protectors!"
As people browsed through the forums, the posts were never-ending.
But the most viral post was by a user called "PowerScalingSon", the post was entitled, "The Current Gods of the New World".
The post’s title was striking, attracting a lot of reads.
Below the title, a long description could be read:
"After almost a month of research, and with my talent’s help, I managed to make a list of who I think are the most powerful people in the world.
"This list is based on feats, statements, and titles, so stronger awakeners might exist, remaining lowkey. This is also made for fun, and not in any way to demean or underestimate other strong Awakeners (pls dont kill me...).
"Alright, here’s the list with their name, country, and continent!
10. Zold Starks, Lunaria, Hasia.
9. Ye Fang, Longxiu, Hasia.
8. Red Hood, Goryeon, Hasia.
7. Master Kimoto, Nihono, Hasia.
6. Pope Angelo, Salvante, Euryon.
5. Maria Auburn, Lunaria, Hasia.
4. Queen Morgana, Crownreach, Euryon.
3. Sky Matriarch, Oseania, Lustrial.
2. Giant Kremlov Legend, Kremlov, Euryon
1. Michael Reegan, Liberty, North Continent.
Below the post, there were countless comments.
"StillNotOverIt: Whoa, nice job OP! What do you mean by your talent’s support? Do you have an intelligence-type talent?"
"PowerScalingSon: Indeed, I can determine the validity of a news story just by reading it."
"TinyButMighty: Isn’t that kind of overpowered?! Holy shit, you’re a legend. But I don’t recognize some of the people here, like Zold Starks and Master Kimoto."
"KingOfMildDiscomfort: @TinyButMighty Idk about Zold Starks, but Master Kimoto is a kendo legend. I’m surprised he isn’t higher in the list..."
"PowerScalingSon: There’s a description attached to each name. Zold Starks is relatively unpopular, but he has some fame in Lunaria. His strength is unknown since he operates in a low-key manner. My reason for putting him there is his status and that one time he slew a Tier III Beast the same day the disasters descended."
"User4: So his feat is only killing a Tier III Beast, then shouldn’t Isaac, who already killed 3 Tier III Beasts, be stronger...?"
"PowerScalingSon: The time it happened is important. Besides, Ishaan killing 3 Tier III Beasts is half-fake and half-true. The three Tier III Beasts were already severely wounded from something else, and then Ishaan had spotted and killed them."
"ThisIsFineDog: Liberty sure has it lucky. Their strongest superhero, Beyond, is also the strongest in the world... reading that report where he killed a Tier III Beast with a flick of his finger still sounds too unbelievable to me."
"AdultVideoReviewer: Solid list. A lot of these names are obvious. But I disagree with Ye Fang’s placement; he’s very strong. I believe he’s as strong as Maria Auburn."
"Maria’sNumberOneFan: Maria should be number one. She’s so pretty..."
"PorcupinePineapple: Hey, won’t all these people meet in the Global Summit? I wonder what will happen..."
"CaptainClumsy: Probably not. After all, it’s a world meeting, not an Awakener fight."
Reading from his phone, Zold looked through the post, finding a lot of familiar and unfamiliar names.
Some of the others were still hidden, but some had already shown their fangs.
He also tried to keep a low profile, but in the end, he was still included in the list.
"I’m in last place..."
Zold smiled, shaking his head.
’How ironic.’
He put down his phone and took out a Spirit Orb from his bag.
It was time to ascend to the Vital Spark stage!
