Global Disaster: I Will Slay Gods In This Second Chance!-Chapter 52: Namita’s Experience
Hyotokye, Kyokutso Ward.
With Seiji’s unexpected professional driving skills, the 13th Demon Hunter Squad arrived at the police station within an hour.
Zold had originally estimated it would take them more than two hours.
As they stepped outside of the car, Zold praised Seiji.
"Good job."
Seiji’s eyes widened slightly in surprise. He nodded, accepting the compliment,
"Thank you, Captain."
"Hmm." 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
Zold nodded and turned to the police station. As he went inside, the other members followed him from behind.
Almost immediately, a police officer spotted them.
The Demon Hunter Association’s uniform was rather unique, so upon seeing Zold and the others, the police officer immediately knew who they were.
"I’ll call the police chief right away, sirs!"
Zold nodded as they waited calmly.
Soon, the police officer came back, leading a tall, burly man with a mature appearance behind him.
The police chief stared at Zold, not expecting him to be so young.
"You’re the 13th Demon Hunter Squad Captain?" He asked hesitantly.
"Yes."
Zold nodded, taking out his identification card.
The police chief glanced at it and nodded.
"... Follow me. Let’s talk in my office."
He led Zold and the others to his personal office. Then, he walked to his desk and sat down.
The police chief took a deep breath.
"First, thank you for your help."
He paused, then continued in a low tone.
"This case is extremely strange. We looked into each victim’s house and found no clues or hints of the murderer’s presence."
"If not for the fact that we know powers of all kinds exist nowadays, we wouldn’t even list this case as a kidnapping or murder."
"We also looked into the victims. Not only did they stay in their homes since the lockdown, but all of their doors were also locked tightly. Their windows were even barricaded."
"If someone wants to forcefully enter, they would have to break down the houses to get in. But that didn’t happen. The houses were untouched."
"This can only mean that the suspect has the ability to spawn inside their victim’s house without alerting them. Furthermore, since there were no signs of struggle, the suspect also has the ability to make their victims disappear without a struggle."
Zold pondered quietly, then asked.
"Anything else?"
The police chief thought for a moment before shaking his head, seemingly nervous.
"No, we’re lost... we’re stuck in this part. I’m honestly terrified. The murderer, the family, it seemed as if they disappeared into thin air. I have a wife and son at home, and I’m worried every day for their safety."
Zold fell silent, thinking deeply.
Certainly, the trickiest part of this case was the fact that there were no clues.
How the murderer got in, how the victims were kidnapped, how there were no struggles...
At that moment, Namita suddenly spoke.
"Any patterns or similarities between each family?"
The police chief paused, furrowing his brows.
"We haven’t..."
Before he could finish, Namita cut him off. "Show me the list of victims’ information."
Hearing that, the police chief instinctively frowned.
"Show him." Zold’s eyes seemed to pierce deep into someone’s soul. "Now."
The police chief shuddered, quickly nodding. He took out a couple of papers underneath his desk, giving them to Namita.
"Here."
Taking them, Namita read each list, his face showing no expression.
The police chief inwardly sighed, as though expecting this outcome.
But at that moment, Namita frowned.
"Found it. There’s a pattern you all missed."
Everyone looked at him, surprised.
The police chief was astonished. Did he really find something?
"Look at this."
Namita spread the five families’ information, pointing at the location.
"Calculating the distance between each family residence, we can infer that the murderer operates only in the eastern part of the Kyokotsu Ward."
"Otherwise, we would’ve heard reports in the other parts of the ward about family disappearances. If they wanted to be discreet, focusing on one area only is obviously foolish."
"So this means they’re limited to the eastern part."
The police chief frowned. If this was the pattern he was talking about, then they already knew about this.
But before he could interrupt, Namita continued.
"However, why were only five families targeted?"
The police chief paused.
Namita glanced at the data, speaking slowly.
"If I’m right, it’s because the other families don’t have a daughter."
"Huh?"
The police chief widened his eyes.
His teammates were also surprised.
Namita hovered his finger around the children of each family.
"The connection between these five families is their daughters. Two of the families don’t have a son, only daughters. Three of the other families have both a daughter and a son."
The police chief stared at the information, his pupils dilating.
Then, he immediately stood up and shouted outside!
"Someone! Bring me the information on all families in the eastern part of the Kyokostu Ward. All the residences!"
Almost immediately, a police officer brought the information to them.
The police chief and the others read the data.
After skimming through them, the police chief and the members of the 13th Demon Hunter Squad had expressions of disbelief, looking at Namita with visible shock.
There really was a pattern!
In the entire eastern part of Kyokotsu Ward, only these five families had daughters.
"Then..."
The police chief furrowed his brows.
If all of the families with daughters were gone...
"They’ll appear here next."
Namita suddenly said, pointing at the southern part of the Kyokotsu Ward.
"The north of Kyokotsu Ward is the path to Shinjuku Ward, where most of the military is stationed. As a result, they’ll choose to go deeper here instead."
"Allocate heavy patrol to the southern part at night. But don’t make it too obvious, or they’ll run away. Mark all the households with a female child."
The police chief nodded rapidly.
"Okay! We’ll do as you say!"
He immediately grabbed his handheld radio and gave some instructions.
Zold patted Namita’s shoulders.
"Good job."
Namita shrugged. This was just a simple case for him.
"Let’s go," Zold said as he turned around. "We’ll go to the southern part now so we won’t have to drive there later."
***
Night.
Zold and the others waited somewhere in the southern part of Kyokotsu Ward, staying inside the van.
They looked at the phone in the car intently, waiting for a response.
Ring!
At that moment, the phone rang.
Zold immediately answered the phone.
The police chief’s urgent voice sounded.
"Someone appeared in one of the marked households!"
