Global Game: Developing a Knight Clan-Chapter 136 - 129: Countermeasures Bureau Intelligence, Lince’s Plan to Sustain War with War
After some thought, Lince decided not to speak up in the group chat, opting for a private message instead.
He also chose to be direct and open from the start.
Anonymous: "I’m Night Owl. I need detailed intelligence on the Karte Continent regarding the Giant Demons, including their city defenses and force distribution. The more detailed, the better."
Insomnia and Rain: "??? No ID is being displayed? It seems you really are extraordinary, Chief. But how can I confirm that you are the Chief?"
Anonymous: "I don’t need you to believe me. My situation is special, after all. Besides me, I doubt anyone else could obtain this kind of permission. If you don’t believe me, you can have your people try to hide their own IDs. Of course, I have a more direct method."
"Wu Yu, age 27, former professional manager, divorced with one son. A True Game Player, Tier Three, playing the role of one of Viscount Charles Perez’s mistresses in the Jade Kingdom, part of the Human Countries. Currently employed in the liaison department of the Human Alliance Countermeasures Bureau. Current address..."
Insomnia and Rain: "!!! Stop talking... I believe you! Just stop... Night Owl, that kind of behavior really isn’t how you win a woman over."
Anonymous: "I had no choice. I have three more message-sending permissions for today. I need detailed intelligence on the Karte Continent. Please hurry. If you don’t have the authority, please report directly to your superior."
Insomnia and Rain: "Is that so? It seems that although you, the Chief, have obtained certain True Game permissions, you also face a lot more restrictions, huh?"
Insomnia and Rain: "Night Owl, don’t rush to reply. You still have two messages left. I’ll go ask my superior right away. Please wait..."
Soon, after about five minutes, Insomnia and Rain sent another message.
Insomnia and Rain: "The Countermeasures General Bureau has approved, Mr. Chief. From now on, I, Wu Manyu, liaison for the Eastern Continent’s Southern Division Countermeasures Bureau, will be providing you with my full assistance and cooperation."
Insomnia and Rain: "Mr. Chief, we only have one day’s worth of simulated data on the Karte Continent, so the information we’ve gathered is very limited. Furthermore, compiling information from the two hundred thousand Players will take a great deal of time. Could you tell us what specific area of information you need? That way, we can focus our attention and compilation efforts."
Insomnia and Rain: "Also, when you say permissions, do you mean you only have five posts per day, or per week, or something else? If you trust us, Mr. Chief, would you be willing to provide a contact method? Of course, if you feel that’s too intrusive, we could also have Ah Cheng pass the compiled information on to you. How does that sound?"
’They’re even using honorifics now? So this is her on-the-clock persona?’
Lince had to admit, the Countermeasures Bureau was indeed wise, and its upper echelons weren’t filled with idiots.
With that in mind, Lince thought for a moment and immediately typed:
"My posting permissions are limited to five times a day. This includes group chats, private messages, Q&As, and everything else. As for the intelligence on the Giant Demons of the Karte Continent, I first need a general overview. Where do they come from, how many clans and Strong Persons do they currently have on the Karte Continent, and even the situation with their Deities."
"Also, I have one more chance to send a message today. I expect I’ll be kicked out of this private chat after I send my next message, though it’s possible I won’t be. Once you’ve compiled the information, you can try sending it directly. If I don’t see the message, I will contact you again tomorrow. In return, I can answer one question for you now. Of course, this is limited to what I know and am allowed to say."
After editing the text above, Lince hit send.
Insomnia and Rain: "Understood! Please wait a moment, Mr. Chief, and please do not use your last posting permission for today. I will report this to my superiors immediately."
Following that message, Lince waited for about ten minutes before Insomnia and Rain finally replied.
Insomnia and Rain: "To ensure the information is as comprehensive as possible, please be sure to contact me tomorrow, Mr. Chief. For now, here is the preliminary information we have compiled."
Soon, as text from Insomnia and Rain continued to appear, Lince got the information he wanted.
Although it wasn’t comprehensive and was only a preliminary, rough summary, Lince was already very satisfied.
Regarding intelligence on the Giant Demons of the Karte Continent, the Countermeasures Bureau had come up with the following general points.
One: The Giant Demons appeared on the Karte Continent approximately 152 years ago. After the Deities disappeared, they took about fifty years to eliminate all the powerful Professionals of the Human Race on the continent and wipe out most of the Human Empires.
Two: The Giant Demons currently have over 350 cities on the Karte Continent, with a total population exceeding thirty million. There are three known main cities; the rest are small to medium-sized cities.
Each small to medium-sized city is managed by over five to fifteen High Tier Giant Demons. As for the three main cities, current intelligence predicts that all three contain Saint Tier Powerhouses. The exact number is unknown. However, for a world like the Karte World that has already been conquered, it’s unlikely they would leave too many top-tier powerhouses behind. This is because, according to the scarce and unreliable information available, it seems the Giant Demons are conquering more worlds than just the Karte Continent.
Three: In terms of industrial level, the Giant Demons are roughly equivalent to the Primary Stage of Blue Star’s second industrial revolution.
Four: The Giant Demons do indeed have Deities, but no human has ever seen them. These Deities never appeared, not even when the Giant Demons were conquering the Karte Continent. As for which Deities exist or even where the Giant Demons originally came from, the Countermeasures Bureau has no sources of information.
Five: It is currently known that human survivor settlements still exist on some overseas islands. The Giant Demons are continuously scouting and sweeping these areas, so the situation for humans is not good. They are scattered, with some even hiding underground or in shallow seas.
According to Insomnia and Rain, there was very little information that the current wave of 200,000 Players could obtain.
This was because Players couldn’t randomly become Giant Demons. Not a single one!
Moreover, eighty percent of the Players in this batch chose to be human, and the current state of the Human Race was terrible. As a result, among the tens of thousands of surviving Players, the highest Equivalent Tier was only a few Players who were similar to Tier One Professionals.
As for non-human Players, strangely enough, not a single one had been able to become a Demon mount or the like tamed by the Giant Demons.
This might be related to the current gameplay loop the True Game had implemented on the Karte Continent, which was singularly focused on killing Giant Demons for item drops and experience.
All in all, Lince felt that getting this rough information was not bad.
At the very least, Lince didn’t have to worry about the threat of Giant Demon Deities in the short term.
Furthermore, based on the Countermeasures Bureau’s summary, the Karte Continent had likely become the Giant Race’s backyard—one of their rear-echelon worlds for troop replenishment.
’They’re conquering more than one world? The Giant Demons’ power is truly immense!’
This made Lince wonder if he needed to be more cautious.
After all, it would be a disaster if the Giant Demons’ main force found out about him and Dawn City.
One hundred and fifty years ago, the combined might of the entire Human Race on the Karte Continent couldn’t win. Lince didn’t dare become so arrogant as to think he could fight the entire Giant Race.
’This is a problem!’
Lince was in a tough spot. He had already destroyed Copper Hammer City. You can’t hide something like that forever.
’Rise to the challenge? Race against time?’
’Try to out-develop the Giant Demons?’
’Between the two of us, whose development will be faster—mine, or the Giant Demons’ reaction?’
Putting everything else aside, as long as Lince reached Saint Tier, or even Demigod, he should have nothing to fear.
’So, is there even a need to think about it?!’
Even at the risk of Dawn City’s destruction, Lince was prepared to go all in!
’Worst case scenario, if I can’t win, I can still run!’
He had to remember that the Growth Level gained from war was the real deal.
Lince held the absolute initiative, and this would be a surprise attack.
Now, with the support of the Earth Dragon and the Red Dragon, it would be a complete waste not to pull off a few big moves after receiving so much backing.
Moreover, if he could break through to Tier Nine, or even Saint Tier, during his surprise attacks on the Giant Demons, he was highly confident he could bring the entire Demon Beast Mountain Range under his command!
Lince could even train Ah Cheng later and have him raise an army of the Undead!
’Snowball. I have to get this snowball rolling!’
There was nothing more to say. The information from the Countermeasures Bureau was enough for Lince to make his decision!
WAR!!!
There was nothing else to consider.
As soon as the Red Dragon and Earth Dragon delivered the next batch of Middle-High Tier Magical Beasts to Dawn City, Lince would launch surprise attacks on all surrounding Giant Demon Cities!
He had to race against time with the Giant Demons!
Just as Lince was contemplating a full-scale surprise attack against the Giant Demons, the final message from Insomnia and Rain arrived.
Insomnia and Rain: "This is the general intelligence we have on the Giant Demons of the Karte Continent for now. I will check for omissions and fill in the gaps tomorrow, then send a more detailed report to you, Lord Chief."
Insomnia and Rain: "Now, for our request. In closing, Mr. Chief, the Countermeasures Bureau would like to ask you: is the situation in the Blue Star Arctic Circle related to the True Game? If you know anything, Mr. Chief, we implore you to tell us what you can within the limits of your permissions. The entire Human Alliance Countermeasures Bureau would be eternally grateful."
(Warning: The Q&A above contains sensitive content related to the True Game’s internal operational permissions. The True Game will censor parts of the Cheater Sealer Player’s response accordingly. Please be advised.)
’As expected, this is what the Countermeasures Bureau wanted to ask about.’
However, seeing the red warning text that only he could see appear below their question, Lince was once again taken aback.
’Well, it’s not so bad. At least there’s no punishment for me.’
As for what was sensitive and what would be censored, Lince could only choose his words carefully. What they would be able to see was out of his control.
"It’s somewhat related, but not by much. There’s more to this matter, but I really can’t say. You wouldn’t be able to see it even if I did. However, the Arctic Circle situation won’t get too serious. Besides, there’s still a chance for a turnaround. That chance involves me and even other Players."
"That’s about all I can say. Let’s talk again tomorrow. Also, thanks for the intelligence."
Lince clicked send.
And then, on the other side, in front of a computer, a female staff member and a group of people behind her stared at the message Lince had sent, all of them looking slightly stunned.
[*******, There’s more to this matter, but I really can’t say. You wouldn’t be able to see it even if I did. However, the Arctic Circle situation won’t get too serious. Besides, *******]
