Global Game: I Can Choose Instance Rewards-Chapter 533 - 365: Intelligence and a Simple Plan (Part 2)
"I ask, you answer, or you die, understand?"
After easily controlling the group, Wang Zhifan quickly walked to the window of one of the off-road vehicles and questioned a native inside the window.
Inside the window was a well-built young Asian man. He wore a yellow short-sleeve shirt and had several black tattoos on his body. One hand held a rifle pointed outward, and the eye close to the window was covered with a metal and glass eyeball, likely fitted with some kind of artificial eye. At this moment, he was under the ice control of Wang Zhifan, with a look of clear astonishment on his face.
"First question, where is this place?"
"Kill me if you must... Why should I... tell you..."
Wang Zhifan’s first question was met with disrespect from the man, who stubbornly refused to cooperate despite being in a hopeless position.
Boom!
Wang Zhifan had always liked fulfilling some people’s wishes. He immediately increased the Source Power output, turning the native into exploded human ice shards, scattering them all over the other natives in the same vehicle.
"You, answer my question from earlier."
He then focused his gaze on the driver of this off-road vehicle, who was a thin black man with curly hair covered with the remains of his now-dead companion. This made him very aware of the consequences of not cooperating.
"This is... the Shadow Desert..."
Sure enough, the threat of violence was effective, and the other party quickly provided the information Wang Zhifan needed.
"Where is the nearest oasis?" 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
Wang Zhifan then asked a very important question to him since finding a suitable location was crucial to surviving this scenario.
"In that direction... a day’s drive."
The curly-haired, thin black man turned slightly and pointed in a direction.
"Really? I’m giving you a chance to answer again!"
To his surprise, Wang Zhifan’s face immediately turned cold because he had explored the direction the black man pointed to earlier, and there was definitely no oasis within a day’s drive!
"It’s, it’s over there! I pointed wrong earlier! It’s called the Great Settlement!"
The black man was a bit panicked upon seeing his murderous expression.
"Forget it... I’ll be more direct."
However, Wang Zhifan lost trust in his response and immediately activated an equipment skill he hadn’t used in a long time: Blank Belt’s Blank Bind.
This skill would release strong spiritual power to pressure surrounding targeted individuals into becoming idiots but would retain basic communication abilities, making it most suitable for extracting information.
Originally, Wang Zhifan did not like using such a terrifying method, but these people were too uncooperative, always scheming, so he grew annoyed and did not wish to continue dealing with them.
The subsequent interrogation became quite straightforward. Wang Zhifan gathered all the natives who had been mentally oppressed into idiots together and collectively questioned them for the necessary information to obtain as comprehensive details as possible. He soon understood the general circumstances of this world.
According to what these people said, they were part of a hunting team from a gathering area at the edge of the Shadow Desert called the Great Settlement. They originally came to this desert to hunt a monster known as the Red Fox because a large organization called "Lifeline" had recently been purchasing materials from the Red Fox. However, they had not successfully found any Red Foxes and, worried about the dangers of the Shadow Desert at night, decided to return. They then ran into Wang Zhifan blocking their path.
The Great Settlement is the closest gathering area to this Shadow Desert, filled with complex individuals, in constant battle. The only reason it can barely maintain is that a large organization called Lifeline has a base there, periodically issuing tasks and trading supplies with the parties involved.
Such large organizations are the top forces in this world, possessing relics from the technologically advanced era, with advanced weapons and superb industrial techniques. Most hold some cutting-edge technology, and A-class, even S-class, psychics are sure to be among their core members, serving as another huge deterrent besides technological power.
Psionics in this world are not very rare, with one naturally occurring in every fifteen people on average. Along with psionics generated by other special means, the number is even larger.
But according to the standardized classification, 95% of psionics are at a level below D, practically useless, and a gun would pack more punch.
Psionics are ranked from highest to lowest as SABCDEF, with specific subdivision rules that are complex, mainly considering the nature and intensity of the power to grade. The grading can indicate combat capability to a certain extent but isn’t absolute, and the power of a psychic is not fixed; there is potential for development, growth, or evolutionary awakening.
For example, enhanced strength is a common ability generally rated as E or F, but if a psychic’s strength is particularly immense, able to lift a small mountain, then it would surely be rated C and above.
On the other hand, gravity control is a relatively advanced ability, starting at level B, but if a psychic’s control range over a target’s gravity is very narrow and adjustments are minimal, the rating would certainly decrease, possibly dropping as low as level E in extreme cases.
Corresponding to the evaluation criteria of psionics, an evaluation system for monsters and mecha masters has also arisen.
For example, an A-class psychic corresponds to an A-class monster and an A-class mecha master. This doesn’t mean that the three would necessarily fight on equal footing if they encountered each other. This rating merely states that they are on the same level. Considering compatibility, there will be real differences in strength, possibly quite distinct, but they won’t be utterly crushed without a chance to fight back against someone at the same level.
In summary, from the information provided by the natives, Wang Zhifan learned that the situation in this world is quite complicated. Although the natural environment is mostly ruined, making it uninhabitable, various groups are living within it. Numerous organizations, big and small, constantly battle, and monsters, psychics, and technological mechas emerge endlessly. Fighting and dying occur almost every moment, and wanting to live a stable life is nothing more than wishful thinking.
"So my first destination is the Great Settlement? To eke out a living there?"
Wang Zhifan knew he didn’t like living in the barren desert, seemingly leaving him with no choice but that one. Yet, given his existing resources, he felt things might not be so absolute. He had more convenient and simple solutions.
"Isn’t it just surviving for a month? I bet that once I reach the populated area, the scenario will send a swarm of flies to bother me. Staying in this deserted desert might be more peaceful, only needing to ensure living supplies and shelter, and I happen to lack neither."
After thinking it through, Wang Zhifan takes out the black tower he had once retrieved half an hour ago. This time he placed the tower directly in the desert, adjusting its height to about three stories, partly considering comfortable living space and partly not wanting the tower to be too conspicuous and attract too many unwanted visitors.
Having made this decision, Wang Zhifan soon used his power, instantly turning the nearby natives who had been reduced to idiots into ice shards, granting them a dignified death. Then he entered the Black Tower and began to pilot this legendary creation deeper into the desert, preparing to spend this experience in the most desolate, uninhabitable area.
"Steady, absolutely steady! With the defense of the Black Tower, none in this world should be able to destroy it, and my personal space retains various foods and drinks from the Wuji Sect World and a big box of Joy Fruits from Gaia Planet. This next month will be the most leisurely experience time I’ve ever had!"
In the tower, Wang Zhifan was already in the top-floor bedroom, reclining on a luxurious, classic Western-style bed, feeling the comfortable temperature inside the tower, eating a vibrant Joy Fruit from his personal space, concluding that even though this scenario had just begun, he was already close to completing it.
