Wen Ran carefully inspected the [User Menu], his eyes darting from one word to another as he tried to make sense of it. Uncertainty gnawed at him. Could he touch it? Or was it only voice-activated? He wasn't sure.

But he couldn't afford to waste time. He knew his window of safety was limited, and whatever he needed to explore, he had to do it on the move. There was no luxury of standing still, no time to sit and study the system at his leisure. He could only investigate when he was certain the area was secure enough for him to risk losing focus.

"It's pretty convenient to know my body like this," Wen Ran muttered to himself. His gaze lingered on the screen, studying his current stats. "Even though I could achieve the same result by just glancing within myself... this still gives me a better understanding of what I must focus on next to grow stronger."

His brow furrowed as he focused on the details before him.

"Everything is at the low Earth grade…" he muttered darkly. "If I want to reach the world beyond this lower realm, I'll need to advance everything to at least a high grade… or even better, Heaven grade. That would be ideal. But to do that…" He exhaled sharply. "I'll have to start hunting powerful beasts or — if this world has any — visit auction houses and buy powerful bloodline essence. So far, I've only seen a few of those places..."

His gaze hardened. "When I save my master, I'll need to leave this place as soon as possible."

He spoke his thoughts aloud as he ran. Despite the added strain on his breath, the sound of his own voice grounded him. In a way, talking to himself seemed to keep him sane.

Next, Wen Ran tried another command.

"Inspect," he called out firmly.

Nothing happened.

"What? How does this one work?" He frowned, puzzled. His gaze shifted from side to side, scanning the area as he continued sprinting. He knew that understanding each system command could make the difference between life and death, and he couldn't afford to neglect any of them.

Fortunately, he didn't have to wonder for long.

Out of the corner of his eye, Wen Ran spotted a small bird perched on the branch of a nearby tree. Its feathers shimmered slightly under the sunlight, and the creature seemed unusually calm despite his presence.

"Inspect," Wen Ran tried again, this time focusing on the bird. He could only hope the command worked on living beings as well.

This time, a system screen flickered to life above the creature. The glowing green letters appeared crisp and clear:

[Name: Lucky Magpie]

[Species: Spirit Beast — Fortune Class]

[Grade: Common (Potential: Rare)]

[Cultivation Level: Early Spirit Flow Stage]

[Elemental Affinity: Wind / Luck]

{Tap the screen for description}

Wen Ran's eyes narrowed. This is… just amazing… he thought.

I can inspect anybody like this?

For a moment, excitement stirred within him, but the feeling quickly turned cold. While this newfound power seemed useful, Wen Ran knew better than to trust anything so easily.

This takes my focus away from my spiritual energy... His gaze hardened as the thought settled in. While it's good, it's also a poison... something that could make me dependent, blindly believing in this strange system. If I let myself get too comfortable with it, I could grow lazy... and that would ruin me in the long run.

His fingers twitched.

I will use it... but carefully.

But before he could push the thought aside, something unexpected caught his eye. The branch where the bird sat had text floating beside it in faint green letters.

[Name: Simple Tree Branch]

[Type: Natural Object]

[Grade: Common]

[Durability: Fragile]

{Tap the screen for potential uses}

And soon, as Wen Ran's gaze shifted, he realized that the entire tree was covered in similar text, marking every branch, leaf, and piece of bark.

So that's the trick... Wen Ran's eyes widened as the realization hit him. I have to focus directly on a specific object for the Inspect skill to work...

His heart pounded faster.

Just who created this technique?

Curiosity clawed at him. Unable to resist, Wen Ran extended his finger and tapped the system screen before glancing back at the bird.

For Wen Ran, this was a world of new possibilities — a world filled with new strategies he had never considered.

His mind shifted to another skill he could now use...

"Search," he muttered.

[Welcome to the search function; Please provide the name of the beast, area, plant, or the person and so on. The system will search the world and find you whatever your heart desires for a price]

Shit... again with a price... Wen Ran cursed silently.

"Ice Spirit Lotus," he said uncertainly.

In an instant, a sharp dizziness gripped him, twisting his mind as though something had been ripped from his soul. His heart sank as cold dread coiled in his chest.

It was the exact same sensation he had felt before — that horrible emptiness when the system robbed him of his lifespan.

His face paled, and his breath grew shallow.

How much did it take this time?

His fingers clenched tightly at his sides, his body tense as he waited for the system's response.
