Greatest Legacy of the Magus Universe-Chapter 723: Balanced Duality
Tumultous waves rose inside Adam's heart, and his mind was a chaotic storm.
The soul is made up of three parts. The Vessel, the Will, and the Spark? And these three are inseparable from each other?
But the white lotus has the miraculous ability to purge the Will of the soul?
Meaning… it leaves behind only the memories and experiences of the soul as well as its spiritual energy!
That is exactly what I have been consuming within the mysterious space of the white lotus!
Wait! So this is the reason why I haven't gone insane or developed multiple personalities after having devoured so many souls!
This is why I was able to retain my true self... my true personality!
It's because the lotus had purged the Will from the souls that it had absorbed!!
Involuntarily, the raven-haired youth's mouth widened in sheer disbelief. So much so, that he even ignored the fact that he was in the presence of an extremely powerful Magus who could read him like a book!
Seeing his reaction, Lord White frowned ever so slightly, "What's gotten into you, young magus?"
Adam hurriedly snapped back to his senses, effortlessly coming up with a lie, "My Lord, it's just…I'm thinking of what would happen to me if my personality, emotions, and individuality were removed from me. Wouldn't I then become an empty husk of my former self?"
Lord White chuckled lightly, "Rather a gruesome fate, wouldn't you say?"
"…Yes," said the youth. "So is that why powerful factions of the Greater Universe would wage such a large-scale war over it? Because this lotus allows them to extinguish others' souls?"
The old man's lips curled up into a mysterious smile, "The Eternal Soul Lotus doesn't just allow its wielder to extinguish the soul of others, it also grants the power to absorb them.
"And once these souls are purged of their will, the extent to which the Lotus' wielder can strengthen their own soul is…"
"Limitless!" Adam whispered in quiet realization.
Lord Whilte nodded with the same smile. "Can you imagine a being whose spiritual energy knows no bounds? Or a being who has absorbed the experiences of countless others? Truly a limitless Magus!"
Adam remained silent for a very long time. Only now was he beginning to realize the true worth of the lotus that he had come to possess by a sheer stroke of fortune.
In his heart, he grew exponentially more cautious so as to never let anyone know about the fact that he possessed such a divine artifact!
He looked up at Lord White and asked eagerly, "I'm curious about something. What happens to the people whose soul the lotus devours?"
"What do you think happens to them?" The old serpent shook his head. "Of course, they completely cease to exist."
That left a bitter taste in Adam's mouth. There were people he knew, people that he'd fought alongside, that he had once called comrades who had died in his vicinity, resulting in their souls being devoured by the lotus.
He controlled his facial expressions, and instead of displaying hope in his eyes, he faked curiosity instead.
"Then does that mean they are entirely removed from the cycle of life and death?"
Lord White gazed at the youth with an intrigued look on his face. "Oh? But that would imply that beings are reborn after they die. How are you so sure that such a cycle even exists in the first place?"
Adam shook his head, smiling wryly, "I'm not sure, my lord. Just a guess. Everything in this world follows a cyclical nature. The seasons change and repeat, night is followed by day, and even empires rise, flourish, and fall, only for new ones to emerge. So going by that reasoning, shouldn't there be a cycle of life and death?"
"Hoho!" The old man heartily chuckled, "You're quite the perceptive little fellow. But I can neither confirm nor deny whether the cycle of life and death, the concept of reincarnation holds true or not."
He paused for a moment before speaking, his words laced with wisdom, "The law of life and death, the law of fate and destiny, the law of space and time, the law of creation and destruction, the law of knowledge and perception, and finally the law of order and chaos.
"These laws govern existence, they transcend mere physical mechanics and delve into the very essence of reality itself. As such, these laws… they are not merely difficult to grasp. They are the most elusive, the most unfathomable forces in existence."
"…I see, my lord." Adam nodded in understanding.
He felt like he had become a student once again, learning words of wisdom from an old man.
Coincidentally, both of these old men were bald.
Suddenly, he thought of something and couldn't help but ask, "Lord White, all those laws you mentioned just now, they follow the concept of balanced duality, representing the dualistic nature of existence, the duality of everything."
Lord white silently nodded.
"Then…" Adam asked, his emotions slightly conflicted, "Would that mean there is a counterpart to the Eternal Soul Lotus?"
The old serpent deeply looked at Adam, his lips slowly forming a cryptic smile. However, he didn't answer the youth's question.
"I believe I have already indulged much of your curiosity today, Adam Constantine of Tron."
Adam's heart sank and he hurriedly apologized. "Forgive me, my lord. I overstepped my boundaries."
However, based on the old serpent's reaction and the intended meaning, Adam was now certain that there existed a similar artifact somehwere in the Magus Universe that was similar to the Eternal Soul Lotus.
Adam speculated that perhaps they were two sides of the same coin!
"So then," Lord White asked, "why are you here, young magus?"
That's right! Adam thought to himself incredulously.
He was so invested in the white lotus and what happened during the great war fifty thousand years ago, that he overlooked the main reason he was had come to the Coil in the first place.

Adam took a deep breath and began, "My Lord, in the near future I will be facing a very dire situation where my life would be on the line. I will have to face enemies far stronger than me."
He paused for a moment before adding, "Thus, I would like to humbly ask your permission to summon serpents that are stronger than me."
Lord White deeply looked at the youth before solemnly answering, "I refuse."
