Chapter 639: The Match or The Tie VII
*Fweeeeeeee*
{We’re back for the second half of the Champions League Semi-finals between these two sides}
{It’s the first leg of this tie. Madrid has the lead with the only goal in this game so far. They managed to score a goal just a few minutes before halftime, but were unable to further their lead thanks to stubborn defending from the Uventus players}
{What does the second half mean for these two sides? I guess we’ll soon find out} the commentator gave opening remarks as the second half began with the Uventus team kicking off the game.
{Madrid has made one change to their line-up with Luka Jovic coming on for Benzema who seems to be injured}
{He seemed to have pulled a muscle right before halftime, and this change has the fans wondering if there is more to his injury than just a pulled muscle} the commentator stated, notifying inattentive fans of the changes to the lineup.
#48th minute…
The Uventus team was in possession of the ball in the middle of the field and they were clearly looking to launch an attack, but when Mckennie tried to pass the ball to Bentacur nearby, Casemiro burst off his line to intercept the pass and then quickly sent the ball forward to Hazard on the left flank.
On receiving the ball, Hazard faced off against Cuadrado, wanting to run down the flank, but Cuadrado seemed to have no intention of getting too close nor letting him get past and was seemingly content on just slowing him down and killing the counter attacking chance before it even began.
However, Hazard wasn’t having it and suddenly pushed the ball forward down the flank, using a sudden burst of pace to barely get past Cuadrado.
Cuadrado reacted immediately and tried to push him off the ball, but despite his small body stature, Hazard managed to hold off Cuadrado enough for himself to stabilize and he once again took off after the ball with Cuadrado chasing him down from behind.
On reaching the left side of the penalty box, Hazard didn’t hesitate and hit a powerful cross into the Uventus penalty box.
The ball flew powerfully across, somehow managing to make it past all the Uventus players in the box before Jovic somehow appeared at the far post in mid-air with his leg outstretched in mid-air and poking at the ball with his leg.
The ball bounced off his leg and flew at the goal.
Buffon was unable to reach the ball from where he was despite jumping at the ball with all he had, and the ball safely nestled in the back of the net .
{Ohhhhhhhhhhhh!!!}
{What a goal and what a time to score!}
{He’s barely been on the field for three minutes and already he’s given his team a two-goal lead} the commentator screamed excitedly while the Madrid fans went wild with excitement and wave after wave of excited cheers burst through the stadium’s stands.
In one of the luxury boxes, Selina Gomes and Temz watched with surprise at the outburst of noise that surpassed any show they had been at or performed at, however, their focus wasn’t on the noise at the stadium, but on what was going on down on the field.
“I think Madrid scored again… that’s not good, is it?” Temz asked Selina.
“Of course it isn’t. It looks like your friend’s team will lose,” Selina said calmly, a bit more knowledgeable about football than Temz.
“Ugh, come on Jason,” Temz muttered in such a low voice that even Selina who was seated right behind her didn’t hear anything.
Jason definitely couldn’t hear anything either and he was crouching and touching the grass in slight exasperation after his team had gone two goals behind.
Once again, they had no excuse.
The defense had slipped up and they had been hit quickly on the counter attack.
Things were going south and they were going south fast.
“Fu*k!” he cursed in a low voice and got back up, not willing to give up yet.
He wasn’t the only one unwilling to give up and the match soon resumed with the head strong Uventus players once again kicking off in the second half just a few minutes after they kicked off the second half.
It was ironic, but it was happening.
#60th minute…
After going behind by two, the Uventus team had played as hard as they could, doing their best to create chances, but the Madrid defense stood strong.
Like an impregnable fortress, the Uventus players could hardly find any way to get past and the few attempts they managed to launch were quickly blocked by the Madrid team.
Meanwhile, Madrid had not had much success either as despite Uventus not having had much success in breaking past them, they had more success with holding on to the ball, thereby cutting off most of Madrid’s chances.
Unfortunately, the Uventus team couldn’t hold onto the ball forever and Valverde who had just stolen the ball from Kulusevski tried to move the ball infield before suddenly changing direction and launching the ball into the path of Marcelo who was making an overlapping run on the outside of the left flank.
Catching the ball perfectly with an outstretched leg, Marcelo skillfully flicked the ball over Cuadrado, then ran around him to collect the ball behind him before continuing his run at the Uventus penalty box.
Not wanting to be caught on the counterattack a third time, the Uventus defenders responded much quicker than before, quickly arranging themselves in Marcelo’s path, but the Brazillian man suddenly tapped into the powers of his bloodline.
Marcelo did a double stepover in front of De Ligt before suddenly darting towards the right.
With him having been moving over from the right, De Ligt couldn’t respond immediately to the sudden change in direction, but Chiellini immediately rushed forward at Marcelo intending to reach the ball first and clear the ball before, but Marcelo once again stretched his leg, catching the ball and flicking it back to the left running to De Ligt’s back and dodging Chiellini’s tackle.
While dribbling past the Uventus defenders, Marcelo had at some point, stepped into the Uventus penalty box, so immediately after dodging Chiellini’s tackle, he immediately let a grounded shot fly at the Uventus goal.
Buffon instantly dropped to the ground while stretching himself as wide as possible to try to cover as much of the goal as possible.
Fortunately for Buffon, his leg somehow managed to block the ball and deflect the ball off it’s intended direction.
The ball looked to bounce out of play, however before it bounced out of play, Rodrygo, who had been subbed on for Asensio arrived near the ball at the perfect moment and jumped at the ball that was mid-air.
{Rodrygooooo!!!}
