Greatest Streamer System-Chapter 481 - – Game Test [2]
Inside the cave, there was nothing but darkness. Light could barely reach inside.
Walls made from brick enclosed them as they walked deeper into the cave.
"Be careful." Lily reminded him as she created a ball of light that floated on top of their heads and illuminated the surrounding.
The corridor was straightforward without any branch. And after they went through some stairs leading down, they finally saw something move inside the darkness in front of them.
There was no sound and there was no voice at all. However, Max sensed a movement as he stepped closer to Lily and extended his arm, ready to block anything that might attack.
Noticing this, Lily also prepared herself, holding her staff tightly. She pointed it forward and activated one of the spells she read earlier.
"Lighting Bolt."
A flash of light shone brightly as a bolt of lightning appeared on top of her staff before shooting forward, lighting the large room briefly. The shadow that moved inside the darkness was immediately illuminated by this lightning strike and they saw it clearly.
It was a troll, an ugly humanoid creature with a flat nose and broad limbs. Its muscular body stood around two meters tall and covered in short bristly hair. In his arm was a club larger than Max himself while its eyes glared at the two intruders with a fierce bloodlust.
Seeing the troll roar angrily at them, Max immediately gave out instruction.
"Cover me, Lily."
He immediately rushed toward it with his sword in front of him, confronting it without any hesitation. His sword was swung up in a single arc which left a mark on the troll's skin but it did nothing more.
The troll laughed at his poor attempt and swung its club with both hands, aiming for his head.
But it never managed to swing it. A fast fireball hit its head from the back, creating a scorching explosion upon impact that stunned it briefly.
Max took this opportunity to reduce the distance between them. He dashed forward, slashing his sword one after another as fast as possible without pausing as if he was unleashing a fury of blade attacks.
He aimed at the troll's vital spots such as neck, armpit, and groin areas where it would be more effective to hurt the monster.
Also...
"Lily!"
Once he noticed the troll was about to attack, he quickly side-stepped to allow Lily's magic do the trick.
"Frost Nova!"
The cold chill blew past him, freezing the troll's right arm as ice particles formed around the troll's body which hindered its movement temporarily. It was frozen in place with its club stuck in mid air before Lily finished it with another spell.
"Magic Missile."
Multiple magic missiles flew toward the troll's head one after another from different angles, bombarding it relentlessly until its head exploded from the continuous blast. Blood splattered everywhere from its gaping mouth and wide open eyes before it fell back onto the ground.
Max looked at it stupidly. Then, he turned to Lily to look at her bewildered face.
"I did it." She said with a bright smile and clapped her hands excitedly.
"You did." Max said while glancing at the dead troll that turned into sparkling particles before disappearing into thin air.
This dungeon was supposed to be a test. But... Wasn't the monster too easy for it to be a test. Or was it designed like this just to test their compatibility with this new capsule?
He didn't know how to feel about this dungeon.
'No need to think about it deeply.'
What he needed to do was to clear the dungeon. In fact, it was better for him to concentrate on clearing this dungeon rather than thinking too much about it.
With a resolve, Max advanced forward through the cave with Lily walking beside him. A ball of floating light illuminated their path forward as they searched for the exit and reached the goal of this dungeon in less than an hour as StoneSword had said. There were no traps at all, so their journey was smooth.
They ended up finding an open area where many orcs and trolls gathered around, grunting and chanting loudly for some reason. This time, it was two versus many.
'Three enemies, huh?' He mocked in his mind, 'How can this be 3 enemies? It's obviously more than that.'
Surely, Lily wouldn't be able to defeat them all with just one spell. He wanted to get some action too.
"Support me, Lily." He ordered, "If any monster tries to attack you, cast Frost Nova or something to freeze them."
"Alright." Lily nodded her head.
She already understood what Max wanted to do based on his actions up until now, so she simply followed him while preparing herself to attack any monster that dared to come close to her.
Seeing Max dashing forward bravely, Lily's eyes glistened as she muttered silently.
"He's so cool."
Without hesitation, he plunged into the army of Orcs. In a glance, they looked identical to the ones in fantasy games that he played before but... these ones were very different from the fantasy orcs. These orcs were bigger and stronger than those in any games he had played before. They stood around two meters tall, much taller than most men Max had seen so far, and all of them carried a weapon in their hands as if waiting for prey to devour.
However...
Slash!
Max was faster. He appeared in front of one of them in an instant and slashed his sword swiftly. His footwork was amazing. He could duck under the swing of an axe while performing a series of spinning attacks with his sword like a whirlwind before backing up again.
Sometimes, he jumped on the Orc's head and used it as a foothold to attack the troll from above using his sword skill before flipping backward with his arms extended to deliver more strikes on his way down.
Everything that happened so fast.
'This is great. The new setting feels nice.'
A smile emerged on Max's face as he became immersed in the thrill of fighting against these orcs one after another without fearing for his own life.
They couldn't touch him. His body moved extremely fast, dodging every attack that was thrown at him.
Having had enough fighting, he jumped backward and landed near Lily.
"Now, Lily." He signaled her with his eyes.
Nodding her head in understanding, Lily stretched her staff forward and aimed her staff at the monster army in front of her.
"Frost Nova full power!"
Her voice rang out through the empty cave and a blizzard struck down like rain, freezing the orcs and trolls that were rushing toward them in anger.
Following that, Max used his sword to slice all the monsters one after another as fast as he could.
Lily still bombarded using a smaller spell called Magic Missile when she had to shoot down the remaining ones that had their ice prison broken.
Fighting monsters was much easier than Max thought it would be. Usually, monsters were at least ten times stronger than him when he played games in the past. He could guess why it was easier. It was a perfect game for a test. And this game could help someone to release their stress.
But he knew for sure that Lily wouldn't be interested in playing this game. This game was only made for a test purpose only, after all.
One by one, the monsters fell and disappeared into light particles. Both of them stood side by side and smiled at each other.
"Good job." Max raised his fist, which Lily bumped slightly in return.
They noticed a large opening on the wall, leading further down into the cave. Tentatively, they approached it and went inside. It was dark and eerie, but Lily's floating light kept their path illuminated as they traversed forward and saw a chest at the end of it.
Max somehow enjoyed this test game. It was a pretty fun dungeon to clear. Without the danger, though, it felt like a date. In fact, it was like a date for him as he played with Lily as his companion inside the virtual world.
Upon reaching the end of the tunnel, Max and Lily found themselves surrounded by lava. Bubbling in the depths of this large cavern, the molten rock glowed brightly as it illuminated the inside of this cavern with red light. There was a small island in front of them with a creature sleeping peacefully on top of a pile of gold coins.
"Hey, that's..." Max pointed at it, gulping nervously at the sight of this creature's unique appearance. "That's a dragon, right?"
It was a large lizard with bright-red scales and wings on its back. Its long tail ended with a spike which swayed slowly like a snake waiting to strike. As it opened its eyes, a pair of slit pupils stared at them fiercely while showing its large canines that were sharp enough to tear anything apart.
Lily nodded at his question, "Un. I think so. It's not a lizard. That is a dragon."

"I thought so."
He looked at the dragon carefully before asking, "What spell do you think can kill it?"
"I don't know. I have never fought a dragon before. Have you?"
"I fought a Behemoth, but that's when my physical ability is enhanced by the game system and I have a large weapon. Right now? I am not so sure that I can kill it with just a sword."
"Ah..."
At that moment, the dragon was fully awake after resting on its pile of gold coins and stared at them with cold eyes that caused both of them to feel uneasy.
Without warning, it roared loudly.
"Don't get too close to Lily!"
Fire came out from its mouth and headed straight at Max. He moved quickly and pulled Lily by her hand to run away from the fire breath, avoiding it by a hair's breadth as he rolled on the ground together with her while the fire breath blasted through the rock wall behind them before making a loud rumbling sound that echoed throughout the cavern.
Raising his head, he looked at the dragon.
He noticed the dragon raised its head highly and looked down on him. The last enemy wasn't an AI controlled boss. It was alive! That meant someone controlled it manually.
And based on the voice earlier...
"StoneSword!" He yelled loudly at the dragon, "You're controlling the dragon?!"
