Grinding EXP From Fireball Skill-Chapter 110: Contention
A massive piece of Secret Silver Ore appeared amidst the ant swarm.
Everyone who had been retreating stopped in their tracks.
Some saw this as an unmissable opportunity, risking it all to charge into the swarm in an attempt to retrieve the Secret Silver Ore.
Others deemed it too dangerous and, after a moment’s hesitation, pulled back from the hazardous area.
FWOOSH!
"Fire Wall Skill!"
Once the Secret Silver Ore appeared, even the Mages couldn’t restrain themselves.
A Tier Two Ring Mage cast his spell, and a moving wall of fire materialized on the battlefield.
It plowed forward, incinerating countless Tier Zero Iron-Eating Ants.
The Fire Wall Skill is a Tier Two Fire Element spell, an area-of-effect Attack Magic.
It killed the Tier Zero Iron-Eating Ants with ease.
The Iron-Eating Ants had no Magic Resistance.
The dead Iron-Eating Ants appeared physically unharmed, but their internal organs had been boiled and charred. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
Compared to their iron-hard shells, the internal organs of the Iron-Eating Ants were far more Fragile.
They were unable to withstand the assault of the Tier Two Fire Wall Skill.
Once the Tier Two Ring Mage made his move, the others couldn’t hold back and joined the fray.
In an instant, the dim cavern was illuminated by a Magic Radiance.
Fireballs, Wind Blades, Lightning, Wooden Spikes, Rock Pillars, and Water Waves erupted everywhere.
With the Mages unleashing their full power, the tide of battle turned in an instant.
The teeming tide of hundreds, even thousands, of Iron-Eating Ants was scattered in the blink of an eye by the magical bombardment.
Several paths opened up, leading deep into the heart of the swarm.
"Charge!"
"The ore is mine!"
"Stop fighting! Let’s get the ore out first, then we can split it!"
BAM! BAM! BAM!
Everyone was fighting both the Iron-Eating Ants and the other Professionals.
Someone suggested they work together to get the ore out before dividing it.
But no one listened.
No one wanted to share the incredibly precious Secret Silver Ore.
Everyone wanted to keep it for themselves.
The scene was utterly chaotic.
SKITTER SKITTER SKITTER!
More Iron-Eating Ants crawled out of the Flowing Silver Stone Lake.
The number of Iron-Eating Ants swelled, surpassing three thousand in the blink of an eye.
Tier One Iron-Eating Ants were now a common sight.
WHOOSH! THUMP THUMP THUMP!
A Tier Two Iron-Eating Ant crawled out from the Flowing Silver Stone Lake.
Flowing Silver dripped from its body, splattering noisily on the ground.
SKITTER SKITTER SKITTER!
The Tier Two Iron-Eating Ant was even more terrifying in size, standing a meter tall and stretching three to four meters in length.
Though smaller than the Anteater, its combat prowess was likely greater.
The Iron-Eating Ant’s Defense Power was higher than the Golden Anteater’s, and its Power was several times that of other Magic Beasts of the same tier.
The Power of a Tier Two Basic Level Iron-Eating Ant was comparable to that of a Tier Two High Level Warrior.
Its Power was absolutely terrifying!
The smaller the Iron-Eating Ant, the higher its Power multiplier.
The Power of a Tier Zero Iron-Eating Ant was enough to tear through steel, making it even stronger than an ordinary Tier One Magical Beast.
A Tier One Iron-Eating Ant could easily bite through armor and weapons, its Power comparable to that of a Tier Two Magical Beast.
Despite this, the Tier Two Iron-Eating Ant still possessed Power that far exceeded other Magic Beasts of its tier.
The appearance of the Tier Two Iron-Eating Ant made everyone subconsciously slow their pace.
Then, some people began to move even faster.
They wanted to snatch the Secret Silver Ore before the Tier Two Iron-Eating Ant got to it.
Li Wei stood at the edge of the battlefield.
He saw the few who had just fled return, charging back into the swarm and struggling toward the Secret Silver Ore.
He was puzzled. ’Why would the swarm suddenly push such a large piece of Secret Silver Ore out of the lake?’
Iron-Eating Ants didn’t eat Mithril, as they were unable to digest it.
They only ate common metal ores and Flowing Silver Stone.
’I’ll wait,’ Li Wei thought. ’No need to rush in.’
Li Wei chose not to charge into the swarm to fight for the Secret Silver Ore.
’The first person to get the ore won’t necessarily be the winner.’
’The only true winner is the one who has the last laugh.’
Li Wei could see that those who had left the battlefield earlier hadn’t gone far.
They were hiding in the mine tunnels.
’It was obvious they were planning an ambush.’
BAM!
A Tier Two Warrior was sent flying by the Tier Two Iron-Eating Ant and crashed into the swarm.
"AHHH!"
A string of agonized screams rang out.
After a fierce eruption of Fighting Spirit, the heavily wounded Tier Two Warrior managed to escape the swarm.
He had nearly died.
Brad charged toward the Secret Silver Ore, but the Tier Two Iron-Eating Ant blocked his path and attacked.
"Sky-Breaking Slash!"
Brad slashed out with his great sword.
CLANG!
The Great Sword collided with the Iron-Eating Ant’s foreleg, creating a shower of sparks.
The Fighting Spirit-infused blade cut halfway through the ant’s foreleg.
VMMMM!
The web of Brad’s thumb split open from the jarring impact, and a sharp pain shot up his arm.
He hastily retreated.
The Tier Two Iron-Eating Ant’s Power was too terrifying; he was no match for it.
If he continued to clash with it head-on, his arm would be crippled.
Seeing this, he shouted, "Everyone, let’s work together! Get the ore out first!"
"If the ore stays in the swarm, none of us will get it!"
With Brad taking the lead, everyone hesitated for a moment before agreeing.
As the leader of the Radiant Mercenary Corps, he had a certain reputation, so people were willing to listen.
A nobody had shouted the same thing earlier, but it had been utterly useless.
They joined forces to clear out the Iron-Eating Ants, attempting to move the massive ore out of the swarm.
For some reason, the Iron-Eating Ants fought like mad, refusing to let anyone near the ore.
BAM! BAM! BAM!
Fireballs, Ice Cones, Wind Blades, Water Waves, Rock Spikes...
Under a constant barrage of Magic, the Tier Two Iron-Eating Ant soon fell.
The group successfully neared the massive Secret Silver Ore.
As Brad got closer, he felt something was odd about the ore.
It didn’t look like ore so much as a mass of mixed earth and rock.
He glanced at the Mithril on top of the chunk of ore.
’Regardless, there’s definitely Mithril inside this chunk,’ he thought.
’We’ll get it out first and figure out the rest later.’
"Provide cover! Warriors and Knights, with me! Let’s get this ore out of here!"
RUMBLE...
Pushing together, the group rolled the ore out of the swarm.
The swarm gave chase, frantically trying to stop them from taking the ore.
THUMP THUMP THUMP!
Two more Tier Two Iron-Eating Ants appeared, charging toward the group with heavy strides.
"Careful, those are Tier Two Middle Level Iron-Eating Ants!"
At these words, no one dared approach the two ants.
Unopposed, the Tier Two Iron-Eating Ants strode forward and quickly closed in on the ore.
Seeing this, Brad’s eyes went wide. "Support! We need support!" he yelled.
"Stop them!"
Li Wei watched from a distance, shaking his head.
’So stupid! They could just smash the ore and take the Mithril, but no, they have to move the whole thing.’
The spectator sees the game more clearly than the players.
The optimal strategy was obviously to just take the visible Mithril.
The strategy to maximize profit was to take the entire chunk of ore.
Without a doubt, everyone had chosen to maximize their potential profit.
No one even suggested abandoning the lesser parts of the ore or smashing it.
Li Wei raised his hand, intending to lend some assistance.
But after a glance around, he lowered it again.
’There are people nearby. Better not reveal my hand.’
The group gave their all to get the ore clear of the swarm.
The Mages managed to block one of the Tier Two Middle Level Iron-Eating Ants with their spells, while blasting the other one to death.
Brad and a few others rolled the ore out of the swarm and toward the exit.
SKITTER SKITTER SKITTER!
The Iron-Eating Ants pursued them relentlessly.
Tier One Iron-Eating Ants kept appearing ahead of them, trying to block their path.
But they were quickly surrounded and lured away.
KRAK!
Brad froze. ’What was that sound?’
BOOM!
The rolling ore exploded, sending fragments flying everywhere.
Everyone looked up to see several chunks of rock with exposed Mithril flying through the air.
Some landed in the ant swarm, others on open ground.
One lucky person managed to catch a piece in mid-air.
The next second, an arrow pierced him through the heart.
"Ah!"
A pained cry rang out.
Brad’s body was sent flying back more than ten meters, crashing into the ant swarm.
