Chapter 114: Chapter 114: Absolute Defense

BANG!

The bolt fired from the Demon-Hunting Crossbow pierced through the ant swarm, sending a cluster of Iron-Eating Ants flying.

BOOM!

The bolt plunged deep into the ground, and the surrounding Iron-Eating Ants were blasted away by the impact.

After landing, the airborne Iron-Eating Ants got back up, unharmed, and resumed their attack.

The Demon-Hunting Crossbow, designed to take down powerful Magic Beasts, couldn’t display its full might against the numerous and smaller Iron-Eating Ants.

CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!

"AHHH!"

"Get away! Don’t bite me!"

"Ah! My finger...!"

CRUNCH! CRUNCH! CRUNCH!

The mandibles of the Iron-Eating Ants were incredibly sharp and immensely powerful.

A single bite on an ordinary person could sever tendons and tear flesh; in severe cases, even bones would be snapped.

Ordinary defenses couldn’t withstand the attacks of the Iron-Eating Ants either.

Leather leggings, plate iron armor—the Iron-Eating Ants could chew through them with ease.

The moment they clashed, the soldiers’ ranks broke, and they turned to flee in disarray.

They were completely outmatched.

Blades striking the Iron-Eating Ants were as useless as striking iron or stone.

"Cross Slash!"

A cross-shaped wave of Sword Qi, formed from Fighting Spirit, swept through the ant swarm, sending more than ten Iron-Eating Ants flying.

The bodies of the Iron-Eating Ants were torn to shreds by the Sword Qi in mid-air.

Brad charged into the battlefield, leading the way.

Reina shouted, "All non-Professionals, fall back!"

Hearing this, the soldiers all turned and fled.

This time, they felt no shame in retreating.

Once the Professionals took action, the tide of Iron-Eating Ants pouring from the mine was quickly contained.

SHH-SHH-SHH!

Several towering figures emerged from the cave.

"Tier Two Iron-Eating Ants!"

Everyone had a bad feeling.

Gu Ze worriedly said, "Don’t tell me the Ant King is coming out too?"

BANG!

The Demon-Hunting Crossbow aimed at a Tier Two Iron-Eating Ant and fired a bolt as thick as a man’s arm.

WHOOSH!

A tremendous sound of tearing air swept across the battlefield.

BAM!

The Tier Two Iron-Eating Ant swung its forelimbs, swatting the Demon-Hunting Arrow away. It took two steps back to steady itself, completely unharmed.

Everyone looked on in horror.

Reina immediately gave an order, "All Demon-Hunting Crossbows, target the Tier One Iron-Eating Ants."

"Knight Professionals, charge with me!"

"Charge!"

Activating the Charge Combat Skill, their Fighting Spirit enveloped their lances and warhorses, forming an unstoppable wave of energy.

A brilliant golden Fighting Spirit erupted from Reina’s body. Like a Valkyrie, she charged toward a Tier Two Iron-Eating Ant.

Seeing this, the others quickly followed suit.

Reina took the lead, with the others close behind.

BAM! BAM! BAM!

Along the way, countless Iron-Eating Ants were sent flying by the wave of energy.

"Piercing!"

Reina thrust her lance, and all the Fighting Spirit around her converged on its tip.

BANG!

With that one thrust, the air instantly exploded, and all the surrounding Iron-Eating Ants were blasted away.

A golden ray of light shot out from the lance.

BOOM!

The ray of light struck the Tier Two Iron-Eating Ant, which crossed its forelegs in front of it to block the attack.

Even the immensely powerful Iron-Eating Ant couldn’t withstand the terrifying kinetic energy of the charge.

After a brief stalemate, the ant’s forelegs were forced apart, and the ray of light drove straight through, piercing its body.

BAM!

The Tier Two Iron-Eating Ant stumbled back a dozen steps. Its body half-collapsed, it propped itself up with one foreleg to keep from falling completely.

A hole appeared in its side, green blood flowing from the wound.

Reina sighed. If she had hit the Iron-Eating Ant’s vital spot, this strike would have undoubtedly been a one-hit kill.

Unfortunately, the Iron-Eating Ant had dodged the fatal blow at the last moment.

It was heavily injured, but the wound wasn’t fatal.

Her charge’s momentum spent, Reina quickly wheeled her horse around to avoid getting bogged down in the ant swarm.

"So strong!"

Everyone was amazed to see Reina single-handedly almost kill a Tier Two Iron-Eating Ant.

Li Wei gave Reina a deep look and thought, ’Has her Power grown stronger again?’

Seeing Reina’s stunning performance, Brad refused to be outdone.

After all, he was the leader of the Radiant Mercenary Corps.

He was arguably the highest-Level Professional present.

"Aurora Sky-Breaking Slash!"

Brad unleashed his true strength.

He swung his sword, his Fighting Spirit solidifying into a single line.

SCHLICK!

The thread-thin line of Sword Qi sliced through the Tier Two Iron-Eating Ant, severing a foreleg and shearing off a piece of its incredibly tough carapace.

"As expected of the leader! He’s so strong!"

"You sly dog, Brad! Hiding your strength so well. How many other secret moves are you hiding?"

Some gasped in amazement, while others grew wary.

The Shooters and other ranged Professionals swarmed the two Tier Two Iron-Eating Ants that had been heavily wounded by Brad and Reina.

Before long, both Tier Two Iron-Eating Ants met their bitter end.

Everyone’s morale soared.

"Drive these Iron-Eating Ants back!"

"Kill all these Iron-Eating Ants!"

After the Tier Two Iron-Eating Ants died, the rate at which the other ants poured out slowed.

Just as everyone was about to counterattack the cave entrance.

Suddenly, the number of Iron-Eating Ants surging from the cave exploded.

A massive number of them swarmed out frantically, a dense, layered tide of bodies.

Seeing this, Li Wei knew things were bad.

At this rate, the Ant King was probably about to appear.

"HIIISSS!"

With a piercing roar, a massive figure stepped out of the cave and into the sunlight.

Its crimson body glinted in the sun, like a blazing fire.

The red Ant King emerged from the cave.

At the sight of it, everyone retreated, not daring to advance.

The memory of the Ant King’s earlier rampage was still fresh in their minds.

No one dared to step forward and fight it.

THUD! THUD! THUD!

The Ant King advanced on the crowd, its steps growing faster and faster.

After adjusting to the light outside, the Ant King launched its attack.

Reina shouted, "Knights, help me block the Ant King! Everyone else, focus all your fire on it!"

Her words fell, but no one stepped forward with her.

Seeing this, Reina dismounted immediately and snatched a large shield from the hands of a nearby Knight.

"I’ll hold it off! You all focus on damage!"

Reina strode forward, a golden radiance emanating from her body and coating her shield in a layer of gold.

"Absolute Defense!"

THUD!

Reina planted her shield directly in the Ant King’s path.

Seeing this, the Ant King seemed to sneer.

It quickened its pace.

It was going to crush this insolent human.

THUD! BANG!

The Ant King slammed headfirst into Reina’s shield, stopping instantly. Its front half dipped down while its rear end shot up.

It face-planted into the dirt, getting a mouthful of mud.

Reina took a step back, her expression changing.

"Attack now!" she yelled.

The Ant King’s Power was beyond imagination; that single blow had consumed a fifth of her Fighting Spirit.

Even with Absolute Defense, she could only withstand five of the Ant King’s attacks at most.

Everyone was shocked to see Reina stop the Ant King in its tracks.

Her shout snapped them back to their senses, and they hurriedly launched their attacks.

"Frost Freeze!"

Gu Ze began Casting, and a layer of frost crept over the Ant King’s body, freezing its joints.

This slowed its attack speed.

"Magic Shield!"

Someone cast a Magic Shield on Reina, hoping she could hold back the Ant King.

"Armor-Piercing Arrow!"

"Vine Binding!"

"Corrosive Magic Ball!"

Everyone went all out to deal with the Ant King.

They unleashed all sorts of skills.

The Ant King took two steps back and easily snapped the vines coiled around its body.

It shook its head, regaining its bearings.

The Ant King looked at the humans before it, enraged.

This was the first time it had suffered a setback since becoming the Ant King.

It swung its sharp foreleg, slashing down at Reina.

Reina raised her shield.

"Absolute Defense—Perfect Shield Counter!"
