Grinding EXP From Fireball Skill-Chapter 49: Invisibility Cloak
Li Wei returned to his room and sat at his desk, lost in thought.
Things had developed in a somewhat unexpected way.
It had disrupted his original plans.
’It’s too late to learn an escape spell on the fly. I need to find some way to get my hands on something for survival.’
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK!
At the sound of the knock, Li Wei opened the door.
A Magic Servant handed him a box.
Li Wei took the box and closed the door.
Returning to his desk, he opened the box. Inside were five small red vials of Life Recovery Potion and five small blue vials of Mana Recovery Potion.
This was the resource pack for combat participants.
A message arrived from the Magic Butler, and text materialized on the back of his Magic Badge.
"During the war, Apprentice Mages will receive 1 Contribution Point per day. Exceptional performance may earn additional Contribution. Points will be distributed starting tomorrow."
"The wartime special supply store is now open. The Mage Association and the Professional Association have enabled store sharing. Contribution Points can be used to exchange for any item in the wartime special supply store."
"The item exchange list has been distributed. Please check for it."
Li Wei found a Magic Text Scroll at the bottom of the box.
He opened the Scroll, and words formed from Magic flickered and shifted.
Looking at the Magic Text Scroll in his hand, Li Wei couldn’t help but feel that the Mage Tower was really bleeding resources.
Normally, Magic Text Scrolls were only used for recording and transmitting important information. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
A single Scroll was worth several Gold Coins. Unless the information was extremely important, no one would be extravagant enough to use a Magic Text Scroll for communication.
When Mage Allen saw the Magic Servants moving the Magic Text Scrolls out of the treasury, he couldn’t help but feel a pang of pain.
"Mage Martin, is it really necessary to be so extravagant with the Magic Text Scrolls?"
Martin smiled and said, "These Magic Text Scrolls have been stockpiled for years and are about to expire. It’s a good time to clear them all out. We can get reimbursed by the Mage Association and the Professional Association later."
"Later, we’ll also sell off the soon-to-expire Potions and Magic Items at a discount to clear out the inventory."
Marina walked in and said, "The Mage Association and the Professional Association have also put out quite a few good things. It seems they’re clearing out their warehouses too. Everyone wants to take this opportunity to take a big bite out of the Macher Kingdom."
Li Wei perused the Magic Text Scroll, searching for what he needed.
It was too late to learn an escape spell, so his only option was to get a life-saving Magic Item.
After searching for a long time, Li Wei selected a piece of Magic Equipment that suited him.
"Invisibility Cloak (Tier One Magic Item). When activated, the Invisibility Cloak simulates the colors of the surrounding environment to achieve an effect of invisibility and camouflage. Wartime discount price: thirty Contribution (original price: forty Contribution)."
Having chosen his equipment, Li Wei rushed to the Xinghuo Literature Society that very night.
The next day was payday for his manuscript, but he had to leave Maple City early in the morning and probably wouldn’t have time to collect his fee.
So, Li Wei decided to go to the Xinghuo Literature Society a day early to ask for his payment.
When he arrived at the Xinghuo Literature Society, Jimmy was just about to leave for the day.
Hearing Li Wei’s request, he couldn’t make the decision himself and had to find Director Gus.
Gus heard that Li Wei was going to fight against the Beastmen for the Macher Kingdom tomorrow.
He made an immediate decision, saying, "No problem. Jimmy, go tell Shanshan to work overtime and calculate Mage Li Wei’s manuscript fee before she leaves."
"Yes, Director."
After waiting for half an hour, Jimmy returned with a statement. "Director, this is this month’s fee for ’Dragon Knight’."
Gus glanced at it and said, "Go get fourteen Gold Coins."
Li Wei took the opportunity to peek at the statement. The fee for April was just over 130,000, not quite 140,000.
While Jimmy was getting the money, Gus said, "Compared to last month’s explosive growth, sales have stabilized this month. They’ll likely remain at this level for some time."
"This doesn’t even include the revenue from our partnership with the Treasure Basin Commerce Association. We won’t know how much that is until their traveling merchant caravans return at the end of summer."
Li Wei nodded, indicating he understood.
A short while later, Jimmy returned with fourteen Gold Coins, and Gus handed them to Li Wei.
"Mage Li Wei, be careful. You must come back safely!"
Li Wei took the pouch of coins and said with a smile, "Thank you for your concern, Director Gus. I’ll definitely come back safely."
"Next month’s manuscript might be delayed for a while before I can get it to Jimmy."
Gus said, "Don’t worry about the manuscript, Mage Li Wei. The Xinghuo Literature Society currently has enough of a backlog to continue serialization for two more months."
"That’s good. Then I’ll be going."
Li Wei took his leave from the Xinghuo Literature Society and went straight to the treasury on the third floor of the Mage Tower.
He spent all the Gold Coins and Contribution he had to exchange for the Invisibility Cloak.
Back in his room, he put on the Invisibility Cloak, his entire body enveloped beneath the gray garment.
Li Wei stood before a full-length mirror and activated the Invisibility Cloak with his Mana.
He watched his reflection in the mirror slowly fade away until only his face remained, hovering in mid-air, the rest of his body having vanished.
He pulled down the cowl, and his face disappeared into thin air as well.
After moving around for a moment, Li Wei discovered that the Invisibility effect was best when he stood still. When he moved, there was a delay in the shifting of light and shadow, making him easier to expose.
The Mana consumption was also acceptable; he could easily maintain the Invisibility effect for dozens of hours.
The cloak also had large pockets on the inside, capable of storing many items.
Even his Short-Handled Staff could be easily stored in the pockets inside the cloak.
Li Wei placed everything he needed to bring with him into the cloak’s inner pockets.
After taking a shower, he lay down on his bed to rest and build up his strength.
’I wonder if Master Rota is asleep yet?’
The thought suddenly struck Li Wei.
It would be for the best if he could obtain the Chain of Small Fireballs Skill that Rota had created before he left.
He decisively activated the "Great Dream Traveling Skill."
He slipped into the Dream World. The fog inside the house had completely disappeared.
Although the gray fog was gone, the room still had a hazy quality to it. Perhaps this was the difference between a dream and reality.
Li Wei walked to the door and pushed it open.
Outside was no longer an endless darkness, but the Dream Fog. A gray, hazy mist shrouded the entire world.
His visibility was only ten meters.
This happened to be the exact range of his extended Spiritual Power.
The fog beyond ten meters was chaotic and indistinct; no one knew what might be hidden within.
’Why is the dreamscape different today?’ Li Wei wondered.
Following the path beneath his feet, he finally saw Rota’s Dream World.
Rota was walking alone in a jungle, seemingly lost.
The edge of the jungle was shrouded in fog. Li Wei stepped out of the fog and into the jungle of Rota’s dream.
After Li Wei appeared, Rota seemed to sense something.
He whipped his head around to look at Li Wei, his eyes filled with terror.
"Beastman! Die!"
Rota raised his Magic Staff and launched an attack at Li Wei.
Hearing Rota’s shout, Li Wei looked bewildered.
He looked down and saw that his body had, at some unknown point, transformed into the hairy physique of a Beastman.
"Chain of Small Fireballs Skill!"
Four or five Fireballs shot out consecutively from Rota’s Magic Staff.
A look of astonishment crossed Li Wei’s face.
