He thought that his two sisters would become his support once he married instead they became a burden to him.

Chen Fu Qi snorted. "Why? They can take my hard-earned money but I cannot make a few remarks on them?" She then picked Chen Yihai in her arms and stated, "It’s fine if you want to dote on Jinning, I will not stop you but don’t even think about cutting the flesh of my son and feeding it to your daughter. They both are my children and get what they deserve!"

Sometimes Chen Fu Qi wanted to divorce Bing Lan but she dropped her idea when she saw how much Chen Yihai wanted to be loved by his father but that did not mean that she would let Bing Lan run amok!

The two of them were together with one another because of the child, if Bing Lan disappointed Chen Yihai too much then she would not think twice before sending him awake.

Bing Lan naturally did not take Chen Fu Qi’s warning to heart. The two of them have been together for so long and even had two children, Chen Fu Qi was also a very simpleminded woman and did not want to marry any concubines as she did not want to cause trouble in her house. Thus Bing Lan did not believe that a woman like her would divorce him.

"What’s so good about treating him so well? Sooner or later he will get married and leave!" Bing Lan harrumphed. He then turned to look at the stove that was not alight with fire and felt a fire surging in his own heart. Good very good, what was the meaning of this?

"Mother, I don’t need meat buns," Chen Yihai said sensibly as he knew that his mother had lost two hundred taels at the hands of his father. "I can drink vegetable soup. You should save the money."

He was not picky about food, no matter what, he could eat and drink anything.

When Chen Fu Qi heard the words of her son, her gaze softened and she couldn’t help but feel guilty. In the past when her father was at home, he could reign over Bing Lan. Thus even though Bing Lan was a mer who favoured girls over mers, he did not go too far. But ever since her father left, that mer had gotten more and more out of control.

Now he treated Chen Jinning like she was a treasure while Chen Yihai was left in the home to clean and cook. Chen Fu Qi sometimes put a stop to it but she had to manage the shop and couldn’t pay attention to Chen Yihai every day.

This allowed Bing Lan to treat Chen Yihai as he liked.

"There is no need for you to worry about money, Mother can still afford a bowl of meat buns and broth soup," Chen Fu Qi said to Chen Yihai.

Just then the server of the shop came over and placed three bowls that he was carrying onto the table.
