Guide To Reign My Tycoon Husbands-Chapter 555: Drum made of human skin
He Chuman sat right in front of Luo Huian; thus, even though they were at some distance, he could see that it was Luo Huian who was stopping Qi Yongrui from bidding.
It seemed like Luo Huian was the one who was leading the bid. Because she was sitting in the corner, no one could see that it was Luo Huian who was taking care of the bid. However, He Chuman could see what was going on through the full glass wall.
The more he looked at Luo Huian, the more He Chuman became shocked, as he could understand what she was saying.
When he was a child, he learnt how to read lips. Thus, he understood everything that Luo Huian said to Qi Yongrui.
He raised his head and turned to look at the assistant who stood behind him. When the assistant saw that his boss was calling him, he immediately leaned his upper body forward and asked, "Yes, Master He."
"Do you remember the land in the Dan Dan district?" He Chuman said to his assistant, who arched a brow but still nodded in response.
"I do." the assistant answered promptly. "We are supposed to sign the contract with the Li family in two days regarding that land." He thought that his boss had some questions regarding the deal that they were going to sign; thus, he immediately answered according to his thought process.
"No, we are not signing that deal with the Li family," stated He Chuman. He interlocked his fingers and placed his chin on the bridge of his fingers. "Send the contract to the Luo family. It seems like there are tigers crouching in that family."
The assistant was surprised upon hearing the command of his boss, as he couldn't understand what made He Chuman change his mind. As far as he knew, He Chuman was not whimsical. He would never change his mind for anyone or anything.
So, how come he suddenly changed his mind and handed such an important contract to the Luo family instead of the Li family?
To make matters worse, the He and the Luo families had never joined hands together in any kind of deal before. If they suddenly got together, he was worried that the Shi and Song families would raise their guards.
"Boss He—"
"Just do what I asked you to do," said He Chuman as he knew what his assistant was going to tell him. He raised his head slightly to one side and stated in a low voice, "I know what I am doing."
He Chuman was not Song Hexiu, who couldn't see through things. He was someone who noticed the smallest detail, so how could he not notice such an important detail? A woman who could see through fake and real antiques. If she were the trash of the Luo family, then everyone in the auction house was worse than trash.
Including him.
When his assistant heard the stern tone of his boss, he pursed his lips and turned silent. "I understand, boss."
Though he didn't understand what made He Chuman suddenly change his mind, the assistant had no choice but to agree. He raised his head and looked at Luo Huian, who was sitting in the VIP room and sighed. Sure enough, beauty was really the cause of the downfall of many countries.
The assistant believed that it was due to Luo Huian's beauty that He Chuman had suddenly changed his mind.
Of course, He Chuman knew what his assistant was thinking, but he had no desire to change his mind.
"Ah." Miss Ni, who was sitting in the VIP room as well, looked at the sight in front of her and chuckled. "It seemed like we came here to waste our time, Master Tian."
Tian Lisong raised his head and turned to look at the woman with a hint of amusement in his eyes. "If I were you, I wouldn't be laughing, Miss Ni. If there is something wrong with the antiques being sold in the auction this time around, I believe that something was definitely wrong the last time as well."
As soon as he finished speaking, Miss Ni stopped smiling. She raised her head and turned to glare at the man. She didn't need him to tell her this. Just the thought of how much money she had wasted on this auction made her heart ache and her head hurt. She wondered how long it had been going on.
Since it was impossible for the auction organisers to suddenly make such a bold move of exchanging the entire stock of antiques, they must have done it before, or else they wouldn't be this bold.
"Call an appraiser," Miss Ni ordered her assistant. "Go and bring him to the guild and have him appraise every antique that we have purchased from this auction." After her assistant left, she glanced at the two organisers of the auction. She commented ruefully, "It seems like the reputation their mother earned by working tirelessly for the nation will be ruined in their hands tonight."
"Well," Tian Lisong drawled with a hint of amusement in his eyes. "This is their comeuppance; what can we say?"
Miss Jing and Mr Xu didn't know what was happening, but the pace of the auction was getting slower and slower with each passing second. Though the auction's items were still being bid on, they had no idea what was going on. For some reason, the stretching silence of the auction hall made them really uneasy.
And they were not the only ones.
Li Ying, who was in charge of collecting these fake goods and dealing with the black money, was even more worried. She was the one who had been arranging the money flow to the black market where they were selling and buying Gloom Poison.
Not to mention the continuous supply to the underworld. If the truth about the auction was found out, then she was worried that she would be caught and thrown in a prison cell for more than ten years.
The more Li Ying thought about it, the more concerned she became.
And as if the heavens were bent on making her pay for all the sins that she had done, the antique that was rolled on the stage was a gigantic drum.
"Oh." Luo Huian scrunched her lips in disgust. She looked at the drum as if she were looking at something dirty, which caused Qi Yongrui to stare at her nervously. He asked, "What is it?"
What was the drum made for his wife to make such an expression?
"It is made of human skin." Luo Huian tilted her head to one side and looked at Qi Yongrui. "What should we do now? Should we call the police?"
As soon as she finished speaking, there was a loud crash, and the two of them turned to look at the wall opposite them. What was going on? What kind of ruckus were their neighbours causing?
"What's wrong with you?" Shi Meifeng turned to look at her fiancé. She arched her brow and said to him, "There is no need for you to think so much."
"You know I—"
"I know." Shi Meifeng upturned her eyes and glanced at the mer with a calm look in her eyes. "I was there with you when it happened, so of course I know what you are trying to say."
She, along with Cheng Mingyu and Luo Huian, was kidnapped when they were really young. Together they were taken to a human traffickers' ring where they found out that the human traffickers killed young children and mers to make some illegal goods and illegally smuggled human organs.
Though they were found before they could be killed, Chen Mingyu and Luo Huian were unlucky to be dragged into the room where they skinned living humans. It was Chen Mingyu who protected Luo Huian, who was really young back then. Of course, it also seriously affected his mental state.
Shi Meifeng was not even surprised that Chen Mingyu was reacting in such a way after finding out that the drum was made of human skin.
She turned to look at Chen Mingyu, who was breathing harshly, and her expression shifted slightly. She reached out and patted him on the back before saying to him, "If you are not feeling good, then you can leave."
"No," Chen Mingyu replied through gritted teeth; he was not going to leave. "It seems like these people are connected to that human trafficker ring. I don't believe that they have any idea where they are getting these items from."
Chen Mingyu was sure that these people were connected to the leader of that human trafficking ring, who had run away the last time.
"You may be right," Shi Meifeng replied as she called the police. "Let's see what happens when we send these people for an investigation?"
She remarked with a sneer as she ended the call once she was done reporting the crime. Now all they needed to do was to wait and watch the drama.
