Half-Hearted: Mr. Sinclair, Stop the Act!-Chapter 190: Suits You Well
Sebastian Prescott heard the remark, and couldn’t help but recall the thought that unexpectedly popped into his mind when he saw the keychain again that day.
No logic, and quite baffling.
Yet he inexplicably felt that this rabbit resembled Sienna Monroe.
Back then, he didn’t think much about it, just felt that he should buy it and Sienna would like it.
He pondered for a moment and said, "It suits you well."
"Suits?"
It was the first time she’d heard of a keychain being suitable for a person.
Sebastian nodded, "Yes."
Now comparing her to that plump white rabbit, he felt the resemblance was even stronger.
This feeling was quite inexplicable.
Without further explanation from him, Sienna was momentarily speechless.
Alright.
However, since this keychain symbolized a blessing of safety, she had no reason to refuse it.
She smiled softly, her eyebrows instinctively curving, and said, "Thank you."
Sebastian gestured towards the potted plant in his hand, "Do you need me to bring it inside for you?"
Sienna thought about the question she wanted to ask, leaving someone outside to talk seemed inappropriate.
So she smiled and said, "I’m sorry to trouble you."
After speaking, she stepped aside to let him in and then closed the door.
Sebastian smoothly stepped inside.
Entering the living room, Sienna turned back and asked, "Is black coffee okay for you?"
Sebastian paused as he was about to bend down in front of the low table by the floor-to-ceiling window, then turned and said, "Tea would be better."
Sienna was a bit surprised, thinking perhaps he thought her black coffee wasn’t good.
But she didn’t ask and nodded, went to the kitchen to brew two cups of tea, and brought a plate of sliced fruit.
On the low table, there were already six pots of azalea flowers.
The four newly placed pots were blooming elegantly, while the other two had only a few small buds, with a faint greenish hue.
Sebastian watered them with a jug, then sat on the sofa, sipping his tea.
Sienna got straight to the point, asking, "Is there any progress in the case with Vivian Nash?"
Sebastian looked up at her, "Regarding the case of unjust enrichment, the court should notify us of mediation soon. Once there’s a specific date, I’ll inform you promptly.
Meanwhile, the case involving the Radiance Beauty Spa’s organized prostitution is scheduled for trial on the ninth of next month."
This case was originally supposed to have its first trial before the new year, but due to the ties to a prostitution ring from decades ago, the judicial process was adjusted.
He took another sip of tea, "This matter is now quite complex, involving as many as fifty to sixty people, maybe more.
It’s all dependent on how the prosecution, defense, and court present their arguments; a verdict is unlikely at the first trial."
Ever since June Ewing went in, she basically no longer paid attention to the case.
She only occasionally heard Sebastian mention a few things.
But since June Ewing’s past organization surfaced, the likely punishment might be harsher.
For her, it was not necessarily a bad thing.
Sienna nodded lightly, "Alright, I understand."
"Would you like to attend the hearing?"
"No need."
The day at the police station’s detention room was her final farewell.
No need to attend the hearing.
June Ewing has already received her due punishment.
It’s enough.
She shifted the topic back to the lawsuit with Vivian Nash, "Do we need Caleb Sinclair’s presence during the mediation hearing?"
"No need."
Sebastian put down his teacup and replied earnestly, "This case is a dispute between the original wife and the mistress, the ex-husband is not a concerned party. The current evidence is sufficient to support the claim for the return of assets."
He paused before saying, "However, once this money is recovered, since it is considered the joint property of you and Caleb Sinclair,
the court will likely redistribute it. But he is the party at fault, so the distribution will naturally favor you, you needn’t worry."
Sienna pursed her lips.
Redistributing this money with Caleb Sinclair wasn’t particularly important to her.
The important thing was for Vivian Nash to experience the pain of losing everything.
These things never belonged to Vivian Nash, they were stolen from her.
Therefore, having her return them is only natural.
"Alright, I understand."
After acknowledging, both picked up their teacups, and just as the awkwardness was about to creep in, Sienna remembered something.
"By the way, I still have an IOU written by Vivian Nash."
"An IOU?" Sebastian frowned slightly, "What amount is it for?"
"Three hundred thousand," Sienna said, "With so much happening, I almost forgot about it. Hold on, I’ll find that IOU."
Sebastian nodded, his voice still crisp and indifferent, though upon close notice, there was a touch of warmth usually absent.
"Alright, take your time, no rush."
Now focused on the IOU, Sienna didn’t catch this nuance.
She went to the study to search among the books she hadn’t yet organized.
It took about five to six minutes before she finally found a slightly yellowed piece of paper.
It looked like it had been around for some years.
Sebastian took it, glanced at it.
It read "Vivian Nash borrows three hundred thousand from Sienna Monroe," followed by Vivian Nash’s signature and date, along with a red fingerprint.
Calculating the time, it had been roughly four years.
Sienna explained while standing beside him, "This was the IOU Vivian Nash gave me when she borrowed money four years ago to buy an apartment."
At that time, their relationship was still good, and three hundred thousand wasn’t much to her.
She knew Vivian Nash really wanted to have a house of her own in Imperial City, to establish herself there.
When Vivian asked to borrow money, she didn’t hesitate.
As for the IOU, Vivian wrote it to show sincerity in front of her.
Back then, she even self-righteously didn’t want the IOU, thinking it would be too distant to ask for it.
But Vivian insisted, saying it’s best to have clear accounts, even between close friends.
Thinking back now, what Vivian said was right.
All these years, the IOU had been tucked inside her college book, "Sophie’s World."
Only a few months ago, after realizing Vivian’s deceit, she checked the IOU for the first time in four years.
Sebastian calmly explained to her, "Since the IOU was written by her own hand, you can demand repayment for this sum. The IOU is protected for up to 20 years.
The statute of limitations begins counting the day after the creditor sends a written demand notice, lasting three years. When do you plan to pursue this from her?"
After hearing his explanation, Sienna was slightly relieved and said thoughtfully, "One step at a time, let’s first focus on reclaiming the things Caleb Sinclair gave her."
