Harem Legion: Queens of the Apocalypse-Chapter 222 Double Fist, Double Power
Blood gushed like a broken pipe. Magnus dashed back into the underground granary, banged on the door, and shouted, "Get me containers, big ones! And steel wire - at least thirty meters! Now! You have three minutes. Move!"
Emily and the other women panicked, not sure what happened, but didn’t ask. They just nodded and ran off to grab what he needed.
Slamming the small door shut behind him, Magnus returned to the main entrance of the granary, circling the massive corpse of the white goose, scaring off the rat-beasts that were eyeing it. He didn’t know if they’d start eating each other, but to be safe, he stayed close to keep them away from the goose’s body.
Three minutes later, the women inside were ready. Magnus pulled out a coil of steel wire, rushed to the goose, and wrapped it around its thick neck. He shouted back into the granary, "Pull!"
Inside, over fifty women pulled with everything they had. Inch by inch, the multi-ton goose was dragged to the granary entrance.
Magnus kept guard, making sure no mutated beasts got close. At the small door, a dozen women rushed out with all kinds of containers. They started collecting the blood flowing from the massive wound, one bucket filled, handed in, another empty one handed out - it went on like that.
After more than twenty minutes, the blood finally stopped oozing from the wounds. The women looked at Magnus. He nodded. They stopped.
Near the granary entrance, the women had already spread out crushed meteorite soil and mineral water. Magnus was the last to enter before turning back and setting it all on fire.
For nearly an hour, Magnus had been running around outside, using that deep red crystal. A red glow half a meter long surrounded him, driving off the mutated beasts. He just kept running circles, keeping them away.
And now? Despite all that, he didn’t feel tired - just breathing a bit heavier.
Then something flashed through his mind...
"Magnus!"
Emily saw he was covered in blood and rushed over, trying to strip his clothes off to check for injuries.
"I’m fine, Emily. Let’s get in the van first." Magnus waved her off and strode toward his armored van. Emily, Liana, and Charlotte quickly followed.
Just as he got near the van, Magnus caught the sound of water behind it. Instinctively, he crouched and leaped onto the roof. From the top, he looked behind the van.
There was a box truck, and behind that, a fire truck. Between them, a female team member was scooping water in a wash basin. Sophia stood there, completely naked, washing her hair. Another girl was beside her, pouring a basin of water over her back.
Standing up there, Magnus had a full view. The girl who was pouring water glanced up - and met his eyes.
She gasped and reflexively covered her mouth. Sophia turned at her reaction and looked up - right into Magnus’s eyes.
Freezing, she threw her arms across her chest, eyes blazing. "Shameless! Get down!"
Magnus jumped off right away and headed into the van’s lounge. The others were already guessing what had happened - Sophia had picked the wrong time to shower, and none of them thought to warn Magnus.
By the time they wanted to, he’d probably seen it all. Couldn’t blame Sophia for needing a bath right now - she reeked. The stench was so strong it stung the nose, no better than what Magnus himself was dealing with. No one could stand too close.
Liana didn’t offer him the couch this time, just dragged over a chair. Magnus sat down and immediately noticed a small heap of Fire Crystals on the bar.
"What’s that for?" he asked.
"Isabel found something. We were about to fill you in," Liana said, glancing at Isabel.
Isabel jogged over, hand over her nose, and backed off a few steps before she could even speak. "Magnus, when we were fighting those giant sparrows at the breach, I passed out some crystals. One of the team crushed two Fire Crystals at once by mistake, using both hands. And look - "
She went to the bar, picked a crystal out, and held it up to Magnus. "Take a look at this."
"Crushed two at once?" Magnus frowned, taking the crystal. Looked normal at first glance, but under close inspection... the red hue was darker than usual.
"This came from that double crush?" he asked.
"Yup, two at once," Isabel confirmed, then handed him another. "This next one’s from the experiment Liana and I just ran."
It was the same deep red crystal - the one Magnus had just used. He shut it off earlier out of habit, using the finger meant for Fire Crystals. It worked too. He hadn’t given it much thought at the time - right after, he’d heard water sounds and climbed on top of the RV, getting distracted.
Now holding it again, something clicked. "This one too? Crushed together?"
"Yeah," Isabel nodded, explaining, "We tried ten times. Used ten Fire Crystals all up. Each time we crushed a set, the crystal got darker. After the tenth, there was no more change. We stopped and brought it to show you."
Hearing this, Magnus stared at the deep red crystal in his palm, lost in thought. Liana held out another crystal to him. "This one’s not synthetic. Dug straight out of the ground. Compare it."
It looked identical. Same spiderweb of deep red cracks, same hue. No difference.
So ten Fire Crystals could make one of these dark red ones? And this was the same type he’d just used?
"There’s more," Liana said, holding out another dark red crystal. Magnus took it. This one, though, was paler. He looked up, confused.
"Try crushing it," Liana said.
Crush it?
Magnus eyed the crystal, tightened his grip - and nothing. It didn’t budge.
"What’s going on?" he asked.
"That one’s from nine Fire Crystals," Liana explained. "We all tried. Can’t crush it."
Then she asked, "Magnus, got any idea why?"
"No," Magnus shook his head honestly. Then a thought hit. "You only tested Fire Crystals? What about Metal Crystals or others - have you tried them too?"
