Harem Legion: Queens of the Apocalypse-Chapter 235 Surrounded by Beauties, Numb to Love
With sorrow in her heart, Dakota thought of her family. She and Victoria cried quietly for a bit, not daring to make too much noise - didn’t want to unsettle the others.
After a long moment, Dakota wiped her eyes and asked, "But... doesn’t Charlotte have a daughter too? How can she just..."
"Her?" Victoria let out a cold chuckle, voice laced with bitterness. "She knows how to please a man, get it?"
"Please a man?" Dakota didn’t quite follow. Victoria’s eyes lit up as she leaned in, voice low, "Wait, you mean... you’re still pure?"
"Pure? What are you talking about - I..." Dakota’s face flushed. She was starting to get it.
"For real?" Victoria’s tone turned eager. "If you’ve never... well, that’d be perfect!"
"Victoria..." Dakota had just learned her name and already had to change her tone. But something about how she spoke now didn’t match the earlier story she’d shared. "What are you really trying to say?"
"Think about it..." Victoria sighed, gripping Dakota’s hand. "The First and Second Teams’ leaders all have their favorites. You’re in Team Two now, sure - but your goal’s still to get back to Team Three, follow Lana, right?" She’d gotten that from Chloe.
Dakota didn’t answer. Victoria held her hand tighter. "But Lana... Don’t blame me for being blunt - she’s not pretty, and she’s what, in her mid-thirties? You really think Magnus doesn’t have his own agenda? If you were him, and danger came knocking - would you risk your own woman, or the captain who once turned on you?"
"If he dares pull that! We’ll leave! Go to Queenstead City!" Dakota snapped. Most of them had come from the same prison - they’d saved each other’s lives more than once in the Anomaly Zone.
"Queenstead City?" Victoria blinked, surprised. "Wait, what? Where exactly - "
"I can’t say." Dakota cut her off and stuck with that, no matter how Victoria pushed.
"Fine, I won’t ask," Victoria muttered, bringing the talk back to her point. "So you want to walk away now? Ha! Let’s not kid ourselves. Back when you first joined, maybe you were seen as something special - Awakened twice and all. But now? Our camp has plenty of those. You think you’re still some rare treasure? And even if you did try to split, you really think those eighty-some folks from the prison would still side with you again?"
Dakota’s mind wavered a bit under the words. "Victoria, what are you really trying to tell me? Just be straight."
"What do you think?" Victoria looked forlorn. "I’m trying to help you. Show you the way. Among your lot, only you and that little girl - what’s her name, Fisher? - have some looks worth mentioning..."
"Leave Paige outta this!" Dakota cut her off, voice rising. Whatever mess of emotions she’d felt earlier was hardened now - Victoria’s meaning was all too clear. But when it came to Paige, she couldn’t stay calm. That girl was just a kid.
"That’s why I didn’t go to her - I’m here talking to you, aren’t I?" Victoria glanced at Dakota, her tone both coaxing and serious. "Honestly, our team’s not that bad. Magnus is a decent guy. He really does his best for everyone, and we all see that. But he’s got this one issue... I mean, I get it, he’s a man in his prime, stuck in the middle of a bunch of pretty girls every day - who wouldn’t be tempted? Who wouldn’t get curious and want to try something new?"
"And that gives him the right to mess around within the team?" Dakota couldn’t stop herself from raising her voice.
"Shh..." Victoria quickly squeezed her hand, looking around nervously. "Keep it down. If they hear you, it’s gonna cause trouble..."
She pulled back the curtain, scanned their surroundings, then turned back and spoke in a hushed voice. "Why are you being so stubborn? Look where we are, look at the situation... you’re still acting like this matters? Tell me, between you and the captain, who do you think holds the cards here? He can have any woman he wants. What are you still clinging to? Let me be blunt - you’ve seen Isla, right? Are you prettier than her? Even someone like her, a big celebrity, she’s trying everything she can just to get close to him. And you’re still holding onto your pride?" 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
"Even if you don’t do it for yourself, think about Lana. Think about Paige. Think about the girls who came out of Everrest Women’s Penitentiary with us. Others would kill for this chance, and you’re here throwing a tantrum..."

Magnus stepped out from the underground garage and hopped into the off-road truck. He’d asked that cheerful girl, Harper, about her driving earlier - seemed capable enough, so he couldn’t be bothered to look for someone else. He’d handle the kill himself; she’d drive.
"Captain!" Harper called, her voice light and chipper.
"What is it?" Magnus settled into the passenger seat and looked over at her.
"I’m only saying this once - I like you."
Her confession was loud and clear. Harper had that playful grin on her face, with those two tiny tiger teeth showing as she looked his way. Then, like nothing had just been said, she started the engine. "Where are we headed?"
"That..." Magnus stalled for a second before snapping back, "Just drive forward slow. I’ll tell you when to stop. Stay in the truck and follow my hand signals."
"Got it. I won’t stop unless you tell me to. Not till you’re satisfied..." she chirped, still grinning as she drove off. Magnus acted like he didn’t hear her.
He’d heard stuff like that more times than he could count.
The teaching block was flanked by a few narrow buildings - barely enough space for chickens or ducks to squeeze through. Right across from it was the entrance where the convoy had rolled in. They drove through that way and onto the soccer field. Three chickens roamed the pitch - one rooster and two hens. The rooster was having too good a time, while the hens just looked exhausted.
Alongside them, there was one duck and one giant white goose. The goose was the biggest, full of blood and muscle. It waddled lazily to the edge of the field, seemingly bored of watching the chickens’ playground antics. Maybe it was looking to find a goose of its own.
Looked like a good target.
Magnus jumped out, hugging the edge to avoid drawing the goose’s attention. When the moment was just right, he darted forward in a sudden burst, leaping onto its back.
He had his Fire Crystal powered up.
The goose let out a screech, feathers flying, its body flaring in pain from the burn - but then, something Magnus didn’t expect happened.
The damn goose took off and flew.
