Chapter 145: New Life

Audrey woke up with the sun streaming through her curtains, she doubled her brows and placed her hand over her eyes.

"Oh, damn, what a short sleep," She muttered.

She sat up in her white bed and looked over at her side table. She reached out and grabbed the framed picture, sighing as she stared at the person in the frame.

"How much I miss you, Lake, it’s been five years," She smiled nostalgically then kissed the picture.

"I hope you’re happy," She whispered against the picture.

There was a soft knock on the door of her room and she slowly placed the picture back on the table, stretching her hands above her head.

"I’ll be ready in a minute, Green," Audrey yawned, cracking her neck.

The knocking stopped and she slowly got out of bed, putting her feet into her fluffy slippers.

She removed her transparent night dress and wrapped her white robe around her body, standing in front of her wall length wall-length mirror, she smiled at herself, "You’re doing great, Audrey, Lake would have been so proud of you," She smiled to herself as she tied her red curly hair in a loose bun for her shower.

She moved away from the mirror and looked out the glass window, loving the morning view of the city from her window.

"So far away from you, yet it feels like it was just yesterday I left the Grey Blood Pack," Audrey murmured.

This has become her morning routine for five years now: wake up, reminisce about what might have been, and then get ready for the day.

She walked into her spacious bathroom and had a quick shower, after which she came out to the room and dressed in a white suit and white-heeled shoes.

She only applied a gloss on her lips and clipped her hair behind her back; she didn’t need makeup; it wasted her time, and frankly, she didn’t need it.

Audrey checked herself in the mirror and smiled; she loved her new self: bold, confident, competent, and focused.

For the five years she’d left her family and friends back at the Grey Blood Pack, she had transformed herself into something totally different from what she used to be. She had developed herself and her business, and today, she is a billionaire, her perfume company, Floral Fusion has become the most popular company here in Paris, and even her wine-producing industry, Lake’s Vine, yes, she just had to name it after him, the company was doing well too, and she tried her best to produce it exactly like Lake’s wine.

After spraying herself with her favorite scent from her collections, she was ready to head out.

She took her car key from the top of the table and walked out of her room.

"Good morning, boss," Green was standing beside the door in her usual white clothes, but this time, she dressed more elegantly.

Audrey smiled at her, "Morning, Green. You really don’t want to call me Audrey, huh?" She questioned, narrowing her eyes at her.

Green bowed her head, "It would be derogatory of me to call you by your name, great one," Green replied seriously.

Audrey chuckled, typical Green, "Alright, boss it is. Remember, we promised to keep everything about the magical powers away, except in the company, of course," Audrey reminded softly.

"Yes, boss, I’m sorry," Green apologized.

Audrey smiled, "Come on, we have an early meeting with Sam," She checked something on her phone and proceeded to walk down her spiraling white staircase.

As she got closer to the living room, a sweet, savory aroma wafted into her nostrils.

"Mm, what’s cooking down here?" She asked loudly as she walked into her dining room.

"Moma!!!"

"Oh no! No, no! Mikhail, no!" She saw a small boy running toward her with greasy hands, but she was too late to dodge, the boy dived her legs and hugged her tightly, his greasy hands holding her pants tightly.

"Oh no, Mikhail, not again," Audrey chuckled, unable to get angry at the cute boy standing below her.

"Oh, sorry Moma," Mikhail pouted, raising his hands to stare at how damaged his mother’s pants were.

"Aww, it’s okay, darling, what are you making with Granny?" Audrey lowered herself to the boy’s level, placing a gentle kiss on his cheek.

Mikhail’s face brightened up from the kids and the question.

"Granny is teaching me how to make Chicken and Waffle! I made it for you," He raised his hand to her face to prove his hard work.

"Oh, I can see that, Mikhail, even my pants testify to it," She chuckled and simply waved her hand over the stains on her pristine white suit pants, making them disappear as if they were never there.

"Wow, Moma, when can I do these things you do with your hands?" Mikhail was astonished every time he saw his mother do a little trick with her hands.

"When you’re older, Mickie" Isabella came out from the kitchen in a white apron, carrying a tray of food in her hands.

Audrey nodded and patted her son’s head. "What she said, baby, when you’re older," She turned him around and led him to the sink beside the dining.

"Then I can’t wait to get older and stronger, just like Moma," Mikhail smiled as he washed his hands. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

Audrey smiled at him through the sink mirror, she nodded at him encouragingly.

Mikhail was her solace, he was a carbon copy of his father. She was shocked when she realized that she was pregnant. The shock was her first emotion, then happiness. She had never thought about pregnancy, but she also forgot that having sex without protection would lead to it.

When she found out, she was very excited to have gotten something to always remind her of her time with Lake. At least, it made her know that she hadn’t imagined all those things, because as time went by, she would have started to believe that all those things were just her imagination due to time and distance, but the moon goddess decided to bless her with Lake’s replica, and each time she saw him, her heart hummed with so much love.

"Alright, Mickie, time to eat," Isabella called from the dining table.

Audrey led him to the dining table, drawing the chair out and carrying him up to sit.

"Thanks, Moma," Mikhail flashed his white teeth at her.

"My pleasure, darling," She kissed the top of his head before walking over to sit at the head of the table.

Mikhail was her world. She had thought she would lose all interest in living as she had separated from the person she loved the most, but Mikhail came and gave her purpose, teaching her that there was another kind of love, the love that she was willing to risk everything, including her life, she wouldn’t trade him for anything, and this time, she wasn’t going to let any spiritual force dictate her son’s life for her. She was going to guard him with her last sweat, and she would make sure he lived his life to the fullest.

"I got it," Green drew the chair for her before she reached the chair.

"Thanks, Green," Audrey appreciated.

"Alright, young lady, you have a seat too, work is waiting," Isabella pushed Green to the table.

"Yes, Ma’am," Green nodded and lowered herself on the chair.

Isabella dished the food onto everyone’s plate, hers too, and then she sat beside Mikhail and fed him while eating hers too.

"I can eat by myself, granny," Mikhail whined.

"I know, Mickie, I just love feeding you," Isabella patted his cheeks cutely.

"Fine, I’ll let you feed me ’cause you’re my grandma," Mikhail smiled.

"Aww," Audrey smiled, imagining what it would have felt like if Lake was here at the table with them.

After eating, Audrey waited for Isabella to dress Mikhail up for school, she never missed taking her son to school herself.

"Bye, Granny," Mikhail waved at Isabella as he entered his mother’s tinted car.

"See you soon, Mickie," Isabella waved with a smile.

Green made sure to lock the seat belt beside Mikhail, then she entered the front car with Audrey.

"Ready, pumpkin?" Audrey winked at him through the front mirror.

"Yes, Moma!" Mikhail replied gingerly.

Audrey chuckled and drove out of the compound.

"Alright, kiddo, be good okay, don’t let Mr. Ben call me to complain about your naughtiness, alright?" Audrey asked as she stood in front of his school.

Mikhail put his hand on his head in a salute.

"I promise to be a good boy, Moma!" He promised convincingly.

"Alright, baby, oh, morning, Ben," Audrey greeted the young man who emerged from the school’s gate.

"Morning, Audrey, rushing to work as usual?" Ben asked.

"Yes, Ben, I leave him in your care, his handful, but I believe you handle him well, see you both in the afternoon," Audrey kissed Mikhail and waved at Ben.

"See you soon," Mikhail waved back at the hospital mother as Ben led him into the school.

"Boss, I received a call; Mr. Sam said he’ll be coming over with someone else who’s interested in your wine production," Green informed as Audey entered the car.

"Oh, that’s awesome! More revenue," Audrey chuckled.
