Hated By The Alpha-Chapter 158: He’s my son too.
Audrey and Andrew chatted for a little longer before another knock sounded on her door.
"Come in, Green," Audrey replied.
Green gently pushed the door and walked into the room.
"Good afternoon, boss," Green bowed, ignoring Andrew.
Andrew was looking at her and realized that she hadn’t changed. She was still the same stoic lady she used to be, always straight to the point.
He remembered the first time he saw her when the last battle with the dark creatures was about to happen. She had left quite an impression on him and everyone, especially Sebastian, Lake doesn’t remember her anymore, but he was sure he would have smiled recalling how they’d all met.
Sebastian would be so thrilled to hear that he’d found Audrey and Green.
"What’s up, Green? Are there any meetings to attend?" Audrey asked.
"No, meetings. It’s time to pick Mikhail up from school. Should I go or do I drive you there?" Green asked in a steady and calm tone.
Audrey widened her eyes, "Oh, I almost forgot. Don’t worry, Green, you stay and finish things up with Leon, I’ll do the school run." She stood from her chair and walked around the table.
"Come on, Andrew, want to tag along? Get to properly meet my son?" Audrey asked excitedly as she walked toward the door.
Andrew was already on his feet, following Audrey behind.
"I’d be honored to meet the Grey Blood’s Pack future Alpha," He responded as he passed Green.
Audrey sighed and turned to look at Andrew. "Well, rightfully, he is. I’m not disputing that. It’s just that he may never get to rule his people. It’s sad, but it has to be so," Audrey felt bad for her son.
She felt guilty for being responsible for her son’s inability to fully embrace who he is and for denying him the best and most acknowledged privilege of a werewolf, the Alpha privilege.
She wished there was a way to go about all these.
"Let’s not be conclusive yet. Who knows, a miracle might happen, right, Green?" Andrew turned his neck to stare at Green.
Green remained stoic, not responding to him.
"Come on, let’s go," Audrey chuckled quietly.
She liked Green, she spoke little, but she always managed to read her unspoken words from her face, like right now, she was telling Andrew to ’fuck off’ with the way she was looking at him.
"See you around, Green," Andrew waved and walked out of the door.
Audrey and Andrew were about to enter the elevator when Green suddenly called from behind.
"Boss, there’s a situation," Green walked hastily and paused in front of Audrey.
Audrey frowned. Her life was already a situation. She didn’t want to face any additional situations.
"What happened, Green?" She asked.
Andrew was watching Green’s face, and for the first time, he saw panic in her face. It made him wonder what must have happened. It must be a grave situation.
Green hesitated before she spoke. "I just received a message from Ben. He said that Mikhail ran out of school and drove away with an anonymous man," She informed Audrey, her heart racing in fear and concern.
"No fucking way," Audrey whispered.
She knew her son was supposed to be smarter than that, he couldn’t just follow a stranger and zoom off, and she knew it wasn’t Leon, he was busy at the Company, if it were him, Ben already knew all his cars, he wouldn’t be sounding an alarm if he recognized the vehicle.
"Did he say the dish number?" Audrey questioned urgently.
Green shook her head, disappointed at herself too.
"Damn it!" Audrey kicked the side of the elevator, clenching her fists beside her.
"I have to go," She announced decisively and pressed the elevator button.
Andrew wasted no time in entering with her, Green was about to enter, but Audrey raised her hand, "Just stay here and carry on as usual," She ordered.
Green bowed and stepped away from the door.
Audrey was restless; Andrew could see it from the way she was tapping her foot on the elevator floor.
He was restless, too; he hoped nothing happened to that kid; it would be the end of Audrey if something ever happened to Mikhail.
The elevator finally opened and Audrey rushed out, heading toward the exit.
"Boss, um, boss-"
"Not now, Jane," Audrey replied curtly and walked past the reception.
Jane blinked, awkwardly fixing her glasses on her face.
"I’m heading to the station to make a report first, then I’ll head to the school. Hopefully, I can trace his scent and the scent of his kidnapper," Audrey said to Andrew as they entered her car.
Andrew nodded and got into the front seat beside Audrey.
Audrey speedily drove the car out of the gate; they had just passed a few blocks from her company when Andrew suddenly received a message on his phone; he looked at his phone in shock and surprise then slowly turned to Audrey.
"Um, Audrey...I don’t t think we need to go to the school anymore," Andrew spoke carefully.
Audrey frowned and glanced at him.
"Why?" She asked, not stopping the car.
"Alpha Lake got him," Andrew announced.
The screeching sound of her tires breaking on the smooth-tarred road sounded loudly around them.
Andrew quickly placed his hand on the dashboard to keep his head from smashing against it due to the sudden breaking.
"What did you say?" She slowly turned to fully look at him.
Andrew turned her phone to her, showing her the message.
Audrey immediately focused on the screen and read out the displayed text. "Ask Ms. Audrey to meet me at the park. A few blocks away from Mikhail’s school."
Audrey sighed, exasperated. She suddenly narrowed her eyes at Andrew, "You were in on this with him all along right? You came to distract me so I don’t pick my son up on time, creating an opportunity for him to do it, right?" She accused.
Andrew frowned, "What? No way. I’m just as surprised as you are. I had only told him that I was going to look around the city and he said he was going to be indoors all day...I never knew he had plans," He defended himself.
"I don’t even know how he found out that I was with you," Andrew shrugged.
Audrey felt that Andrew was telling the truth.
She slumped back on the chair. Somehow, her mind was now at rest; Mikhail was safe, and Lake could never hurt him, but she had questions.
How did he find Mikhail’s school?
"It’s alright, it’s good it was him than someone else. Let’s go," She replied and resumed driving her car, this time, in a more relaxed manner.
They soon arrived at the park and Audrey parked her car and quickly got out.
Andrew was beside her in a matter of seconds, looking around to check for Lake and Mikhail.
There were a lot of parents and children; it was a recreational park so it was expected for parents to bring their children here after school.
Audrey didn’t have to search, she already located both the father and son through their scents. "Come on, they’re over there," Audrey said to Andrew and started to walk into the park.
She passed a few people sitting on a picnic and some people lining up to get some ice cream, but she knew his son wasn’t there, he’d never be found lining up for ice cream because, his grandma fed him a lot of that at home, and secondly, he’d rather be at the claw machine than at an ice cream stand.
Audrey passed the ice cream stand and saw Mikhail clinging to someone’s leg as the person focused on clawing something from the claw machine.
She couldn’t help but smile, but when she looked up and saw Lake, she forced her smile to disappear.
"There she is!" Mikhail suddenly announced and ran toward Audrey.
Audrey smiled and bent over to lift her child.
"Moma! I missed you," Mikhail kissed her cheeks.
Audrey laughed; she knew Mikhail was smart and corny, he was being overly sweet to make her not to scold him.
"I missed you too, Sweetheart," She kissed his head.
Mikhail hugged her tightly, burying his face in her neck, "Mm, Moma smells yummy, just like he said," Mikhail announced.
Audrey froze, she saw Andrew turning his face to another side to hide his smile.
"Who said that?" Audrey asked.
"Him," Mikhail pointed at Lake, who was still very busy trying to claw something out of the machine.
Audrey sighed, "Don’t discuss mummy with strangers, Sweetheart, and..." She frowned.
Mikhail blinked cutely, knowing what was coming, "Please, don’t scold me, Moma, I called him to pick me up because...you know, I told you I wanted to spend time with him and you, you agreed so I had to call him," Mikhail tried to exonerate his little self.
Audrey smiled, she kissed his cheek and said, "I’m not going to scold you, baby. I’m just sad you didn’t tell me your plans, let me know next time, okay?" She asked in a soft voice.
Mikhail nodded "Okay, Moma," he smiled at her and wriggled down from her hold.
Audrey watched her son as he approached Lake and tapped his leg.
"Lake, Moma is here," Mikhail informed.
Lake leaned over and picked up a huge wolf stuffed toy, "Here," He gave it to the boy.
Mikhail jumped with joy, hugging the wolf toy to himself.
"Thank you, Lake," He smiled up Lake.
Lake patted the boy’s head and slowly turned to look at Audrey.
"Hello, Ms. Audrey," He stretched his hand for a handshake.
Audrey bit her lips and reluctantly shook his hand.
Her son was watching, she didn’t want to act rude toward Lake.
"Mr. Aloha, I never knew you were coming to pick up my son from school," She smiled at him, but it didn’t reach her eyes.
Lake maintained eye contact with her as he calmly replied, "Why can’t I pick him up, he’s my son too."
"What?!" Audrey almost fell to the floor from shock.
